Chapter 1847
When Bertha and Lea arrived at the hotel, Thaddeus had just received the news of Sophia's arrest
and was on his way out to rescue her.
Upon opening the door, Bertha and Lea blocked the entrance,
Thaddeus paused. âBertha, you're back? Is your best friend discharged from the hospital? Never
mind, I have something to handle. Take Lea in first, and we'll talk when I get back.â
Bertha frowned. âWhere are you going? Are you planning on bailing out that ruthless daughter of
yours?â.
After hearing this, Thaddeus stopped and stared at his wife. âYou have already known that?â
Bertha grumbled, âSheâs done such a heinous act! Why are you bailing her out? If you do, she won't
realize her mistake, and she will feel even more invincible! She'll just keep doing as she pleases!â
Thaddeus rubbed his temples. âBertha, Sophia might be a bit willful, but sheâs not as outrageous as
you claim. This time, I suspect she was framed by that Ellinor, so I need to get her out.â
Bertha exhaled in frustration. âFramed by who? Ellinor acted within the bounds of the law, but what
about your daughter? She threw sulfuric acid at her! That's acid, not tap water! She clearly intended
to harm Ellinor! This is the work of your precious daughter! And yet, you still intend to rescue her?!
If you save her this time, next she might commit murder!â
Thaddeus was speechless. âBut...â
Bertha grabbed Thaddeus's arm. âListen to me; don't interfere. Let her face the consequences of her
actions; only then will she understand the gravity of what she has done. Thaddeus, you can't keep
spoiling her, do you understand? To indulge a child is to ruin them!â
Thaddeus took a deep breath and closed his eyes to compose himself. âBertha, you're right! I've
failed her. If I had disciplined her properly, then she wouldn't have committed such an act.â
Bertha patted his arm, hoping her husband could see reason. âThere are more things we need to
talk about. Come in."
A calmer Thaddeus followed Bertha back into the suite.
âBertha, what's the matter? Speak up. There's nothing I canât handle now.â Thaddeus sat on the
couch, rubbing his temples anxiously.
Bertha sat down next to him with their younger daughter and sighed heavily. âThaddeus, Marcus
has returned to the Blanchet family. He's remembered his past, his legs have recovered, and he's
now with Ellinor.â
Thaddeus paused, but was not surprised. âHmm, I figured. Ever since Sophia said he was missing, I
had a hunch.â
Bertha continued, âNow that Marcus is back with the Blanchets, he will inevitably come after you
and Sophia for what happened these past three years. You need to be prepared.â
Thaddeus grunted irritably. âSo what if he wants to settle scores? Am I supposed to be afraid?â
Bertha looked at her husband, feeling a sense of sorrow. âThe Marcus back with the Blanchets is not
the same man who used to be pushed around; he is Mr. Blanchet, and he has the means to deal
with you. Thaddeus, we are the ones at fault, so perhaps we should apologize before they come
knocking. Ellinor has not only saved my life, but she's also Marlinieâs long-lost daughter. They might
be more forgiving for Marlinieâs sake.â
Thaddeusâ brows furrowed. âWhat? Apologize to them?â
