Chapter 70

Nikami POV

"Are you fucking kidding me-" Raijin covered her face, embarrassed by the fact said that with her presence.

"Wh…" Shukona paused, gulping before just staring at me in awe.

Her face was a mix of emotions. Confusion, jealousy, sadness, regret, anger, all spiraling and mixing inside of her. She didn't like it, not at all, she didn't like having such intense emotions.

Shukona wants to cry, she wants to, but she can't. A noble girl doesn't cry, especially in front of people, that's just simply inelegant. Nikami was the girl that gave her purpose, she was the one that never saw her as a spoiled brat, nor looked down at her like the others.

Shukona had a crush on her saviour.

"I see, congratulations." Was all that came from Shukona's mouth, her face having a pained expression, biting on her lip to stop herself from crying.

"I shall go back now, I'm not even sure if I'm supposed to be here for long, I don't want to get into trouble. Please take care." Shukona bowed down, looking down at the floor so that they couldn't see her pathetic face.

She immediately stood up and walked away, biting on her lip so hard it started to bleed. She didn't want to cry. She can't cry. She CAN'T.

"Ah… Okay." I nodded towards the Shukona that was walking away, feeling confused at her sudden farewell.

"Shu…" Raijin froze from Shukona's face, it looked familiar. It was… Filled with so much pain… She wanted to run towards her and grab her hand, but the weak body she had couldn't allow her.

"Nika, run after her!"

"And why would I? If I do stop her, she'll just get into trouble for staying too long. Now that we're finally alone. We can kiss, yes?"

"Nika…" Ugh… These two are so difficult, Shukona doesn't want to tell Nikami straight up that she's frustrated and Nikami just doesn't even care…

Wait, what did she say?

"Nika! Stop it!" Raijin yelled at her, and I stared over at her in confusion.

"Sorry if you got uncomfortable." Nikami shook her head, maybe she really doesn't want to kiss. That's fine though, they'll kiss sooner or later.

"Who wouldn't be?! Nika, I… I just… Feel like you're forcing yourself!" Raijin leaned on the wall, glaring over at me.

"Isn't that the logical conclusion in being in a relationship?" I asked her, titling my head.

"Logical conclusion, sure, but do you even care about emotions?! It's just… Progressing so fast! Just like earlier, You didn't care about Shu! She likes you! That look on her face… It was similar to the face I keep making when you talk about Yasachu…! Do you not just care about her anymore?!" Raijin exclaimed, pointing towards me in an angry fashion.

"I know she does. I didn't want to lie to Shu out of all people, she'll know one way or another. It's better to tell her now than in a more shocking way, she'll have time to understand our situation. I'm sure she already knew this would happen sooner or later, Shukona knows we're engaged. And that we'll get married in the future. So I don't see the problem here." I was confused on why Raijin was so mad at me, it was inevitable. We had to tell Shukona sooner.

"The problem is Shukona is already so  fucking stressed right now! You getting hurt, us getting hurt, helping with the construction, being in a new school with new people, and you just dropped a bomb shell! We could talk to her about it over some tea or something, in a more calm and peaceful environment! I was fine with it but I never knew that she liked you! But you, you fuckin knew she liked you, yet you didn't even hesitate. God, you really are such an asshole…" Raijin groaned, leaning her head on the wall and looking up.

"That… Didn't even cross my mind…?" I stared down at the floor, putting my hand on my head out of frustration. Shukona was thinking of so many things at the same time, I… I didn't even…

"Damn it. This must be this world's punishment for trying to break my code." I thought in my head, shaking it as I looked at Raijin.

"I'm not an asshole because I chose to be. Please, just… Bear with me for a while. I'm sorry. I didn't even… Think of that so I…" I apologized to Raijin, closing my eyes as I rubbed my nose in frustration.

"N-no! I'm sorry too! I mean, I snapped at you too and… I got too heated. I just couldn't help but get mad at that bullshit. I forgive you, I'm sorry too." Raijin frowned, Nikami was in the wrong, but she didn't really need to call her an asshole…

Raijin slowly, and awkwardly, walked towards me and hugged.

"Sorry."

"No, I'm sorry."

"You're the only person that understands my situation, why is it that the world is always trying to pull us apart? It's dumb. It's so dumb. I just want us to play like we were children again… Without this stupid change in our personalities." I thought for a moment, hugging Raijin back as I slowly calmed down.

How stupid of me.

"Thank you." I looked up at her, her face being close to me since we were embracing each other. I turned my head away, being bashful from my mistake.

"Th-thank me for what? I was bein rude." Raijin tilted her head, looking down at me as she flinched. Ugh, hugging in a weak body like this, so painful…

"Just for being here in general. If… If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have noticed my mistake. Nor will anyone have the guts to even say it, if it weren't for Shu or you I… I would have succumbed to the in game Nikami Shiromoru." I spoke out my feelings, being more comfortable in her embrace.

"Hah, I could say the same thing! It was a good idea being friends with Shu, huh!" Raijin chuckled, giving a large grin.

"Uck… You don't have to rub salt in the wound… I just hurt that girl." I clicked my tongue, looking up at her and glaring, my arms around her tightened.

"O-ow! Go easy on my body, please!" Raijin squealed out, feeling the pain from her current over sensitive body.

"Ah, that's true, we should probably get back to the infirmary… Would you like help walking?" I asked, pushing her away gently as I reached out my hand for her.

Raijin stared at my hand for a moment, hesitating. Raijin didn't like showing weakness, but she… She trusted me. Raijin gave a grin, scoffing as she placed her hand on top of mine.

"No shit, I can barely even stand by myself." Raijin laughed, and I stared at her in silence.

Right in front of me, was a glitch. A bug that hasn't been deleted, despite all of the world's effort. She was an anomaly-, no, we're both anomalies.

But she gave a tear in this lovely yet sickening piece of fabric, woven from the golden string of poison crafted from the gods that was this world. Something that I couldn't even imagine, the least I can do is open that tear further, to completely rip apart this reality that keeps on trying and trying to split us apart.

Your love for me, may be the only hope I have to stop this cycle.

This cycle of admiration and regret.

We entered the infirmary, Raijin sat on her bed and looked up at me.

"Hey… Uh…" She paused, looking away as she thought about something, adjusting her collar as she cleared her throat.

"Do you like… Wanna cuddle or something…?" Raijin mumbled, gulping before glancing over at me.

"Look at this princess, taking the initiative." I scoffed, folding my hands as I gave a slight smirk in response.

"Sh-shut up! I wasn't the one that immediately tried to kiss someone!" Raijin huffed, but despite that, she was smiling brightly like an idiot.

"You say that, but why are you smiling so brightly?" I asked her, confused at why she was like that. It was odd.

"A-ah… It's just that… Eh… Uh… No one really calls me princess and… That makes me really happy…" Raijin scratched the back of her head, muttering as she did so.

"Ah… Shall I call you princess when we're in private then?" I remembered how in the route of Raijin, she was always so frustrated when she gets called a guy. One of the reasons Raijin is always so angry is because she's pretending to be a guy and she detest it. But this is the only way she could really get the throne without much problems…

"Wh-what?! You… You'll do that for me?" Raijin widened her eyes, smiling brightly as she squealed. Her voice became soft, higher pitched than normal, her real voice came out.

"Of course, princess. Pft, isn't this your pet name for me? How odd, even though you're the royal here." I chuckled, seeing how oddly excited this girl is. Being called princess makes her so happy, to the point of even squealing. That's cute.

I sat down on the opposite side of the bed, laying down as I looked over at her sitting down.

"W-well… You'll be a royal soon too… So…-" Before she could even continue, a knock was heard from the door.

"Excuse me…"
