Nicole POV:
"Where in the world is my fucking phone?" I yell frustratedly searching frantically in my bedroom. Then I remember I lost it during the run
I'm so dumb!
I've been in this room for hours looking for the fucking phone!
"Nicole would you hurry up? We are running late!" Trina hollers from downstairs.
"Coming!" I holler back and glance at my reflection in the mirror for the last time. I need to get a new phone! I pick up my satchel and it weighs a ton. I sling it over my shoulder and exit my room.
"Its about time" mom scoffs.
"Sorry! I was looking for my phone" I apologise.
Mom rolls her eyes and we all walk to the garage and sit in the car.
I wonder what Alec is doing right now. He was dumbstruck when he heard he was going to be a father. I know his mom is going to be so disappointed in him! And maybe we cannot continue with our fake relationship anymore.
Trina gets down first.
"Mom can I have a new phone? I lost the old one" I tell her nervously. I told her I slept over at a friend's house the day I didn't show up at home. If I told her I was chased by a bear, she would have a heart attack and would have taken me to see the doctor for a series of check ups.
"What happened to the old one?" Mom asks with bewilderment evident in her tone. How am I going to tell her that I lost it whiles running from a grumpy brown bear?
"It just got missing" I reply.
She sighs
"How did it get missing?" She interrogates and I let out a sigh of defeat.
"I think I dropped it or something. I bumped into someone and it fell without me noticing" I lie and I was glad when she nodded, obviously buying the idea
"When did you lose it?" She presses on and I huff.
"Two days ago" I lie again hoping she would quit the interrogation now.
"Okay! I'll get you a new one today"she promises and I let out a silent scream
"Thanks mom" I yelp and kiss her cheek. Her phone rings , distracting us and she puts it on speaker.
"Hey honey! I'm back" my dad's voice booms from the phone.
"That's great! So where are you?" Mom spits
"At work! But tonight we will be having dinner together alone so tell Nicole to take charge"
"Sure! I love that!" Mom spits
"Okay! See you tonight! Look beautiful" dad says and hangs up.
"Nicole! Your dad and I will be having dinner tonight so you'll take charge of the house baby"
"No problem mom! Am at your service" I reply and she chuckles. She enters my school's parking lot.
"Be a good girl! " mom says. I get down and wave her as she leaves. I spot Jake's new car enter the parking lot and I frown slightly.
I need to talk to him. I have to. I watch as he gets down from the car looking breathtakingly handsome. He shuts the door after taking out his bag
I approach him nervously. His gaze lands on me and a frown becomes apparent on his features. He begins to walk in the other direction trying to ignore me. I stride faster to catch up with him as I call out his name.
"Jake!" I call but he doesn't respond and he keeps on walking. I call him again and he doesn't even turn to look at me. He walks faster and faster and l have to jog to catch up with him. I continue to follow him and call his name until we get to the hallway. He turns to face me. His eyes dark and jaw clenched
"Leave me alone Nikki!" He states coldly at me and I shudder suddenly regretting for calling him.
He turns around and gets punched in the face. He lands on the floor beside me and I flinch.
A guy stands there. He has red hair and green eyes. His fists are balled at his sides and he glares at Jake on the floor.
"Stay away from my girlfriend! Do you hear me?" He yells at Jake. Jake gets up. His mouth is busted. He actually deserved that punch for treating me like a total stranger!
Jake laughs.
"Look here Mister! You don't own her!" Jake spits in his face.
"You don't own her too! Leave her alone! If I see you close to her again, I'll ruin you"
Who are they talking about? The students in the hall are watching.
"She doesn't need you anymore you jackass! Why don't you move on?" Jake taunts.
"Don't you dare tell me what to do!" The guy says and grabs Jake's collar. My heart skips a beat.
"Just fuck off man" Jake says and shoves him onto the floor.
"I'm not leaving Kate alone!" Jake spits in his face and my heart drops. Oh so Kate is the person they are talking about!
The guy sneers at him and punches him. They begin to fight and the crowd of students cheer them on, like they always do. I was worried.
The guy is on top of Jake punching his face so hard. Jake throws him over and is on top of him now. He has a purple eye. He punches the redhead and kicks him in the stomach.
"Jake stop!" I yell but he doesn't listen. He shoves the guy into a locker and he hits it head first. Blood spills on the floor.
"Fight! Fight! Fight!" The students chant and I roll my eyes at them. Jake is thrown towards a locker and he crashes into it with his face. I cringe as blood oozes out of the new wound on his forehead.
"Leave her alone" the red head shrieks and kicks Jake in the tummy.
"Ooh"the crowd bellows and I quickly move in to stop the redhead from creating more damage.
" hey stop this madness okay?"I tell the redhead.
"Okay Señorita" the redhead says with a chuckle and he punches Jake in the tummy again.
"Hey!" I snap at him but he doesn't budge and continues his assault.
Kate comes over and shock engraves her face as she sees the two guys fighting over her â drained in blood and fresh sores.
"Stop!" She yells but they keep on fighting.
Jake begins to choke the guy and hits his head repeatedly on the row of lockers. He's gonna kill him!
Aaron, Danny and Troy finally tears
them apart and the redhead collapses on the floor. I think he's suffered a concussion.
"What's wrong with you?" Kate yells at Jake.
"He is the one who brought himself" Jake says with a shrug. Blood was all over his lips with lots of bruises on his face.
"What's going on here?" The principal says and she sees the guy on the floor and Jake's condition
"Mr Winters! Come with me!" She says and Jake follows her leaving Kate. She kneels beside the redhead trying to revive him in a way.

I left for my locker. I took my books and slammed my locker. I remember I never got a birthday present for Jenna. I sigh. But I helped Claire design her present for her.
I know Jake is going to get into serious trouble for fighting.
"Hey Nikki! What are you up to?" Kimberly spits out of no where.
"Just getting ready for class" I reply
"Yesterday, I didn't see you and Alec the whole day! What happened?"
"Its a long story" I reply.
"Hey you two!" Troy says walking towards the two of us.
"Did you see the fight?" He asks.
"Yeah we did! I know you feel bad Jake was fighting for Kate" Kimberly says. I did feel bad. I realised that he has really rejected me and I feel alone.
"No" I lie.
"Let's get to class, shall we?" I add trying to change the subject
"Sure" they both say. Trina told me to stay away from all three and I didn't listen!

I trudged to my table and sat beside Jenna to eat. Its finally lunch time at school and I'm ecstatic I made it halfway through the day without seeing Jake, Aaron or Alec in my classes. The fight I witnessed in the morning has made today a very dull one for me. I feel heartbroken and lonely at the same time.
"Nikki! Are you okay?" Danny enquires.
I nod with a weak smile. I was far from happy! I just wanted to go home! No even better, transfer schools or move to another state. I know I'm being selfish but its for the best! So that I wouldn't have to see Jake and Kate together! But I cannot deny the fact that I'll miss my friends.
"Nicole! You don't look okay! You are far from happy" Jenna says.
"What's wrong Nikki?" Troy asks and I suddenly feel tears rush into my eyes.
I get up and walk out of the cafeteria. Someone spins me around. Troy
"You're crying? What happened cupcake?" He asks worriedly
I just hugged him and cried in his shoulder whiles he rubbed my back to soothe me.
"Did we say anything wrong?" He asks the moment I stop crying. I wasn't this weak! What's happening to me?
"I'm okay Troy" I reply confidently and he furrows his eyebrows at me.
"You are weird Nikki" he says and I laugh.
"I know right" I reply releasing all the sadness I feel.
"Okay, let's go back and finish our food" Troy says and pulls me back into the cafeteria. I spot Kate and Jake sitting together on a table. Jake's face has lots of band aids on it. He looks awful. I take my eyes off them and it lands on Aaron sitting with Melissa at another table chatting.
I sigh and sit on my table. I need to forget about them! They moved on!
Aaron is with Melissa now, Jake is with Kate and its possible Alec will be with Madison very soon. I need to get someone else. But who?
I think its better if I continue to be alone. All they do is break your heart.

School finally comes to an end and mom picks me up. She picks Trina too at her school and we are heading home. She buys us some drinks and chow mein.
"Did you buy me my new phone mommy?" I ask and Trina goes wide eyed
"You bought Nicole a new phone mom?" Trina spits.
"No sweetheart! Am so sorry! I was too busy, I couldn't go to the shop to get some" Mom says and my heart drops. So much for asking!
"But don't worry! I promise you'll get it before the end of this month"
"Okay mom"
"What about me mom! I need to get a new one" Trina says.
"I'll think about it." My mom says
We finally arrive at our house and we get inside. I took a long shower and got into my favourite polka dotted pyjamas. Then I tied my hair in a messy bun
Mom says before the end of this month I will have a new phone! But which month are we in? I check the calendar in my room. October.
I check today's date and it 13th October. My birthday is coming and I can't wait! My birthday falls on 15th October!!! I actually have two more days to go! And I can't believe Jenna and I are the same birth month! October is the best!
Trina will be celebrating hers in December. I wonder what our parents will get for us this time. I walk out of my bedroom.
Mom gives me a lot of instructions before she leaves me and Trina alone in the house. She looked ravishing in a navy blue sleek dress with a complicated hairstyle.
Trina and I are currently sprawled in the couches in the hall watching Maleficent on the Television.
I can't stop thinking about what happened in school today. I didn't expect Jake to behave that way towards me.
I sigh and guzzle my chow mein. "So how'd it go at school?" Trina drawls when the movie comes to an end.
"School was fine" I lie ignoring the bile rising in my throat. All I feel is hurt.
"So did you take charge and play?" Trina asks. No its the other way around! The boys took charge and played.
"I did" I lie again.
"So how was it? Was it fun?" Trina spits.
"Yeah really fun!" I lie and fill my mouth with food.
"I knew you would enjoy it!" Trina gushes.
"So what about you? How was school today?" I ask her.
"I got bullied today by Mason's crush" she admits and I sit up annoyed.
"What did she do to you?" I demand
"She poured her chocolate drink on my shirt and faked an apology. Then she pulled my hair and yelled in my ear to stay away from Mason." Trina spits.
"She did that?" I ask
"Yes she did! It was so embarrassing" Trina admits and covers her face.
"Was Mason around?"
"Yes! He was" Trina says hurt.
"And he didn't stop that psycho?" I spit and Trina chuckles.
"Well he did but she had already caused the damage"
"I'm so sorry" I apologise feeling sorry for her. I guess the two of us had a bad day at school.
"I wish I was there to teach that bitch a lesson for laying a finger on my sister."
Trina chuckles.
"Its normal! " she shrugs and eats her chow mein.
We solved a jigsaw puzzle before retiring to bed.
