Nicole POV:
So the day is finally here! Yaay! 15th October! OMG! I'm eighteen today! I bounce on my bed giddily. It feels so good!
I take a shower and get dressed for school. I don't know whether to go out! I'm still curious to know what my parents have in store for me.
I open my bedroom door and the place is pitch dark. What the fuck? Did they forget my birthday? That will be horrible!
Birthdays aren't really my thing but I am interested in the gifts and presents. I walk downstairs and the curtains are still down. Something weird is going on.
"Mom!" I yell becoming terrified now. They should be down here by now eating breakfast or something.
I get no response.
"Mom! Trina! Dad" I yell again and its quiet. I ran to Trina's bedroom to find it empty but it was dark at first.
"Trina!" I yell her name in her room hoping she will respond but there was no response whatsoever.
I rushed to my parents room and it was dark. I put on the lights and it was vacant.
"Mom! Dad!" I yell. Okay this is creepy! Especially on my birthday! This can't be happening. Its like everyone has vanished to God knows where! Or did they abandon me on my birthday? No! They can't do that! Of course not or else they'll regret it.
I stride into the kitchen and the place is clean with no human being. The hall was the same. I decide to go outside. The front of the house had no human being. I go to the backyard and I find them
"Surprise!!!" They yell and I wanted to beat all of them for giving me such a fright.
"Happy Birthday Sweetheart" Mom says and gives me a hug.
Trina and dad follow suit.
"Okay! You guys gave me a fright in there! What is wrong with you?" I scold.
They chuckle.
"We just wanted you to feel something on your birthday! And we are glad it worked!" Trina explains.
"My daughter is finally eighteen! You are now a young woman" My dad says proudly with a grin.
"Yes dad!" I reply excited.
" Let's go celebrate!"mom announces. We walk together into the backyard.
There was a small but beautiful birthday cake on a table together with a few boxes wrapped in black and navy.
"What are these?" I ask them referring to the boxes.
"They are your birthday presents from the three of us" Trina replies
"But you need to make your wish and cut the cake before you touch them baby" mom says and I smile.
"Okay! Let's do this!" I say and take the knife.
"Make your wish" Trina urges
"I wish we will continue to be together as a family like this forever" I say and blow the candles. They applaud me and I smile. Then we all cut the cake.
I loved it! It was a small birthday party! Not like the fancy ones I know where they invite lots of people! I hate those ones. My family was so simple! And I liked being simple!
We share the cake and it tastes just right. I take a few drinks and I eat my favourite food, Risotto.
"I loved the cake and the food was delicious" I tell them when I'm done. I look at the time and its fifteen minutes past the hour six.
"Thanks honey" mom says.
"Time to open your present!" Trina gushes.
"Don't rush her Trina! Let her enjoy every single moment" mom says sweetly and it melts me.
I pick up the first box and it had a label, From Trina. The box was navy with a few white stripes on it. I open it to reveal a magazine. It was the latest in fashion.
"Oh my God Trina! You got me the latest fashion magazine?" I blurt and she smiles proudly
"Thank you so much! It means a lot to me" I say gratefully.
I place the magazine in my satchel and take another box with black and beige stripes.
The label had from mom written on it. The box was kind of heavy.
I opened it to reveal an iPhone 8.
I gasp and take it out feeling it in my palm.
"Mom! This is......" I trail off and hug her.
"Thanks mom! I love it!" I gush when we break apart.
"I set it for you so you can start using it today hun" mom says and I'm dumbstruck.
"Thank you" I say on the brink of tears. This has always been my dream phone! Today I'm holding it.
I place it in my satchel together with the box and pick up the last box from dad obviously. It was navy and black. I opened it to reveal a key! Wait its a ....CAR KEY!!! OMG!!!
I take the key and look at the sign. Its a Honda!
"Dad! You bought me a Honda?" I ask astounded.
"Yes sweetheart! Its in the garage! Do you want to check it out?"
"Totally!" I yell and he chuckles. I finally have a car. I was wishing for a Buggati or any other sports car but all the same, I like the Honda. The car key alone tells me it must be really costly.
Dad walks us to the garage and my jaw nearly hits the floor. It was a glossy black saloon car. It was so beautiful and I wanted to kiss it and taste it.
"You like it?" Dad asks me.
"I love it dad! This is a total fantasy!" I gush and he chuckles.
I open the front door and sit in. The seats have rubbers on them but the interior is gorgeous and modern. Kind of my style. This is mind blowing!
I get down and hug dad so tight.
"Thank you daddy! The car is fantastic!!!" I yell. This is the best present of all!
"Now you can go to school on your own without having to rely on your mom but promise me you'll drive well"
"I promise daddy! To take good care of this baby!" I say
"Very well! Now go ahead and spark it" dad says and I quickly climb into the driver's seat.
I slot the key into the ignition and turn it on. It gives a low but smooth roar and I fall completely in love with it! This car is my taste. I hope it can run.
"You are good to go!" Dad says and I chuckle.
"Goodbye sweetheart! Have a great day at school" mom says sweetly
"Bye sis" Trina adds.
"I can take you to school Trina!" I suggest
"Really?" She asks bug eyed
I nod.
"Get In" I instruct and she sits at the passenger seat. She smiles toothily and sits at the passenger seat.
"This is the best birthday party ever mom and dad! Thank you so much" I tell them and they smile
"Its our pleasure hun" dad says and I smile.
"Bye!" I say and reverse out of the garage waving them. Then I was out of sight going at top speed. I loved this baby. It could ran!
"Can you slow down a bit Nikki?" Trina grumbles.
I chuckle and slow down.
"Thank you" Trina says heaving a sigh of relief.
I finally got to her school and dropped her off before going to mine. I saw Jake's car following my own in the rear view mirror. I guess he doesn't know its me driving. An evil smirk appears on my face and I speed down the road with him on my tail.

I enter the school's parking lot and everyone is staring at the car. The windows are tainted so no one can see who's inside. Jake's car follows behind.
I pull up and turn off the engine. I apply some lip gloss on my lips and put on my shades. Then I open the car door and everyone have their eyes on me including Jake who had just gotten out of his car.
"Oh my Gosh! Is that Nikki's new car?" I hear someone yell a little too loud.
I smile and walk confidently into the building with people still have surprised looks on their faces.
I got to my locker and opened it. Dozens of boxes fall on me. What the?
I pick them up and they are from my friends.
"Oh how lovely! Its the alpha's birthday" Kate taunts and I roll my eyes. Not today!
"I saw you park that crappy Honda in the parking lot....(giggles)..... Oh Nikki! Was that your birthday present ? Because it is archaic! You should have told your parents or whoever gave you that gift to buy you a better car! Not a ....." She says and I cut her off stuffing the boxes back into my locker and closing it.
Jake was behind her with a dull expression together with a few students in the hallway.
"I don't care if its crappy or archaic! Its still a car! And I love it! At least, I've got something to drive" I spit and Kate laughs.
"Yeah right! That crappy Honda suits you perfectly! You are no match for a Lamborghini or a Ferrari!" She says and my blood boils.
"I don't care about what you say Kate! I don't need those cars! Every car is the same! They all have four tyres! One steering wheel and one engine! The only difference is their speed" I say trying to put sense into her head.
She laughs. Why isn't Jake stopping her? Why is he just standing there? Oh yeah! I forgot! He will allow his girlfriend to do whatever she pleases with me.
"You talk like a total loser! That's what you are! A LOSER!!!" she spits and my heart pounds against my ribcage.
I decide to be matured and walk away. Kate steps in front of me.
"Where are you going? We are not done with our conversation hun" she says sweetly and I feel like throwing up.
"I don't have time for useless conversations! Time matters!" I state and she's gobsmacked. I smirk at her and push her aside a bit and walk away.
I hear her growl and I'm satisfied.
"Happy Birthday Loser!" She hollers and laughs wickedly. I roll my eyes and keep my cool.
I found Kimberly chatting with Claire.
"Hey there" I greet.
"Oh Nikki! Happy Birthday!" Kimberly gushes and Claire follows suit.
"I saw your car in the parking lot! Its amazing!" Claire says in her deep Canadian accent.
"Awwwm! Thanks Claire" I say gratefully.
"You have a new car?" Kimberly asks me.
"Yes! Its a Honda Civic" I reply.
"OMG!!!" Kimberly gushes and hugs me.
"Finally! Congrats my friend!!!" She adds when we break apart making me laugh.
"So did you see our gifts in your locker?" Claire asks.
"Yes I did! But I didn't get the chance to open them because Miss Drama Queen showed up and called my Honda crappy and she also had the guts to call me a Loser!" I state and they are bug eyed.
"Who's Miss Drama Queen?" Claire asks and Kimberly and I laugh. The way she said it made it sound so funny. I don't really know where I got that name from
"She's talking about Kate Sanders" Kimberly clarifies.
"Oh! That whore!" Claire spits and I'm dumbfounded.
"Claire? Did you just say that word?" I ask.
"Yes I did! Everyone knows her!" Claire shrugs.
"But what she said isn't true! Your Honda isn't crappy! Anyone would wish for it! And you're not a loser! On the contrary, you are a role model" Claire says.
I smile. She mended my broken heart.
"Thanks Claire" I state and hug her.
"I agree with Claire too! Kate is just trying to make you feel bad! She's just belittling you" Kimberly states.
"But you still need to open your presents before the end of the day" Kimberly scolds.
"I'll open them at lunch!" I promise her.

Lunch time came quicker than I thought. Everyone was wishing me a happy birthday in the cafeteria.
I sat at our table. All my friends were here except Jake with their presents lined in front of me.
I take Aaron's present and open it. There was a golden bracelet inside.
Everyone in the cafeteria is watching our table including Jake.
"Thanks Aaron! The bracelet is lovely" I say and he smiles.
"You deserve it sugar" he says and I melt.
I open Troy's present next and there was a brand new black adidas tracksuit in it.
I look at him
"I know how much you love tracksuits! So I decided to get you a new one! And a latest one" Troy says with a proud smile.
"Thanks Troy! I love it" I say gratefully and move on to Danny's present.
I open it to reveal a pair of white double deckers without a stain.
"You got me double deckers?" I ask Danny. He smiles.
"I know you really like them" Danny says and I smile.
"I love them" I gush and he chuckles.
I was so grateful for what my friends bought me as a birthday gift so far! I have more to look at!
