Chapter 48: Chapter 48:

The flow of slime stops and Claire is soaked from head to toe. Students in the hallway chuckle and take pictures. She was immaculately clad in slime.

"Oh my Gosh Claire" I yell and look into my locker. I see nothing but it looks like someone installed a pipe here or something. Surprisingly my books weren't covered in slime.

"This is not good" Claire mumbles.

I shut my locker. It was a prank for me and Claire saved me from the disgrace of being covered in slime and teased. I can only think of one person. Jake and his new gang members are behind this! I have that feeling! I know its them! Who else would try to prank me?

"I'm so sorry about that Claire! It was a prank for me" I apologise.

"No need to apologise. Its not your fault! I'll just go home and take the day off." Claire states

"How would you go?"

"I'll just find a way" Claire drawls disappointment filled in her voice.

"Well the Alpha got pranked!" Jake's voice booms through the hallway and it confirms my suspicions.

I turn to see him looking immensely gorgeous with his hair gelled but he had a new haircut. He had his infamous smirk on and his grey eyes were shimmering.

Kate stood beside him together with those twin boys and a girl with short blue hair.

"Look what you did! Claire doesn't deserve this!" I yell at him and his face falls when he sees Claire covered with slime. Disappointment is clearly written all over his stupid face.

"Shit!" He blurts and turns to the twins at the back.

"Cody! What the fuck did you do? You were supposed to install the damn machine in Nikki's locker!" Jake scolds and I fold my arms.

"I don't  know! Caden told me this was her locker" one of the twins answered. He had a sharp jaw and his lips were really pink and full. I guess he's Cody. He points to his brother beside him who had a dull expression on and he looked dangerous somehow.

"Caden?" Jake asks the 'dangerous twin' I guess. Where did that come from.

"Isn't this supposed to be the bitch's locker?" Caden spits venomously pointing to my locker and my blood boils.

"It is but what I don't understand here is that, how come she didn't get sprayed with the slime?" Jake spits.

"She was supposed to be sprayed with it" Caden says with a shrug

"He installed it in her locker Jake! Its just that this witch seemed to escape our prank" Kate tells him.

Jake nods and the infamous smirk appears on his face again.

"How can you be so inhuman Jake? I thought I really knew you but come to think of it, you are a monster" I tell him and his eyes darken.

"Are you calling me inhuman Nikki? You are the one who hurt me first! You are the one who is inhuman here" he retaliates.

I scoff under my breath and shake my head in disbelief.

"Anyway, I'm so sorry about this Claire! It wasn't meant for you at all" Jake apologises to her.

"Whatever! But why was it for Nikki?" Claire asks.

"Its for a reason I cannot tell" Jake says.

"There is more to come Nikki! You accepted the challenge! So prepare for it! Let's go guys" Jake says and they leave our presence. I roll my eyes.

"Son of a biscuit" I scoff.

Claire chuckles beside me.

"You need to clean up before you go home! I'll help you at the restroom" I offer and take Claire to the girl's restroom. This is gonna take hours to clean up. All the same, she saved me.

"Guys are you listening?" I ask my gang members who weren't listening to my brilliant suggestion.

"Hmm?" Danny snorts

"What did you say?" Kimberly asks looking away from her phone for once.

"I'm sorry but I didn't hear a word " Troy says.

"You were saying something about ...a prank or? I didn't hear anything really" Aaron spits and I growl in frustration.

"Like seriously? I've been talking for a good twenty minutes here and you guys didn't hear a single word?" I state agitated.

"Well I heard about your prank this morning" Troy states and I slap my forehead. This is pointless.

"Poor Claire! She was covered in slime" Aaron says sympathetically.

"You were immensely lucky Nikki" Danny pipes up

"Yeah! You covered in slime would have been a sight to see" Kimberly says with a chuckle.

"That's why we need to take revenge guys! On Claire's behalf! She didn't deserve it" I tell them.

"Revenge?" Aaron asks raising a dark brow.

"So what do you suggest we do?" Troy asks.

"You are tied remember? The Agreement?" Danny says.

"I remember that Danny! But I could use a helping hand" I say and point to all of them.

"Okay I'm out! I'm not taking revenge on anyone" Aaron says and gets up walking away. I sigh.

"Danny? Troy? Kimberly?"

"I don't like taking revenge actually so count me out Alpha! I'm sorry" Danny says and walks away the same way Aaron left.

I look at Troy and Kimberly. They have huge beams on their faces.

"Don't tell me that you cannot do it" I state clearly disappointed

"Oh yeah! I knew it!" I state when there is no answer.

"Count us in Nikki" Troy and Kimberly blurt at the same time and I'm awestruck.

"Thank you so much. You guys are my absolute favourites"

"You're welcome" Kimberly says.

"We love pranking dear! Just sit back and watch us work" Troy says and winks at me.

"So who do you want us to prank?" Kimberly asks ready for it.

I tap my chin furiously.

"JAKE" I reply and they are astounded

"Why Jake? I thought you would say Kate again" Troy says

"That's because he tried to prank me this morning" I reply

"He is behind the slime stuff? Man he's good" Kimberly compliments.

"Are you guys on a pranking competition or the overthrowing thing?" Kim adds.

"Let's say its something like the overthrowing thing" I state with a smirk. I was really enjoying this conversation

"So are we pranking him today?" Troy asks.

"I wish! But let's make it early tomorrow morning" I state with a cackle

"I like that! So Evil" Troy says with a wicked smile.

"This is going to be fun Troy! I can't wait" Kimberly gushes with a smirk.

Jake POV:

"I really wanted to see Nikki covered with slime not Claire!" I yell at my gang.

"Relax man! We can prank her another time" Caden says in a bored tone.

"Nikki is one lucky girl! She's extremely intelligent too" Cody spits.

"Oh please! She isn't intelligent!" Kate sneers.

"I think I know what saved her" Aurora speaks up. She had short blue hair and brown eyes.

"What Aurora?" I demand wanting to know how she escaped the prank so easily!

"She saw something weird with her locker. So she told Claire about it and she pointed a bent part to her. Then Claire touched the bent part and then she got sprayed with the slime" Aurora says simply chewing her bubblegum.

I sigh.

"Cody! I told you not to leave any suspicious marks" I yell frustratedly at him.

"I'm sorry! I just couldn't key in her combination well and so I had to find other means of installing the machine in the locker" Cody apologises.

Caden snorts at the back.

"My brother is such a dumbass Jake! I told you to give the project to me! But you didn't listen! Now she knows we want to prank her and so she's alert"he spits and Cody frowns.

" I'm not a dumbass Caden! Just because you came out a few minutes before me doesn't mean you can disrespect me"Cody says quite indignant.

"Sorry!" Caden drawls with a shrug.

"So what do we do now?" I ask them.

"We would have to wait for sometime" Aurora suggests

"No way Aurora! They'll get back at us!" Cody says.

"I think we need to try another prank! A prank with no suspicious marks this time around" Kate snarls and Cody ruffles his hair.

"Caden? Can you do it?" I ask him. He looks away from his phone and glares at me with his amber eyes.

"Don't ask me that question Jake! Pranking Nikki is like setting a mousetrap for a mouse. Its just a piece of cake" Caden brags and I smile satisfied. He isn't going to let me down.

"So when am I pranking her?" Caden asks confidently.

"Noon........tomorrow" I drawl and he smiles wickedly.

"Great timing Jake! I love it" Kate gushes.

"Jake!" Someone calls and I make an abrupt turn to see the intruder who could have  been listening to our plans all this while. I frown on seeing him. Alec.

I walk to him. He looks angry. When I get outside he grabs my collar and pins me to the wall.

"Are you nuts? Huh? Why are you doing this to Nicole? What did she do to you?" He yells at me

I shove him onto the floor and straighten my collar.

"Don't question what I do! I do whatever I want" I state coldly at him and his eyes darken.

"I heard everything! And I'm going to tell her what you are up to you moron" Alec threatens and my blood boils.

"You wouldn't dare!" I warn him and he chuckles in my face.

"Try me Stepbrother"

I frown and punch him in the jaw. He holds it in pain. I hate him so much. He is the cause of all the pain and hatred flowing through my veins.

"Good punching there! But that wouldn't stop me from protecting Nicole" Alec spits raucously at me.

"You better keep your mouth shut! Or you'll regret it stepbrother" I threaten him.

"I don't care  if I have to die to protect her okay?! I love her!"

That was the last straw. How dare he say that to me. I shove him on the floor and punch him repeatedly.

"Jake no!" Cody says and breaks us apart but Alec charges towards me and kicks me in the gut.

"You better leave Her Alone!" Alec yells at me.

"I'm not" I retaliate and punch him more.

Alec grabs my neck and I start to choke.

"I cannot have her! But I will protect her" He spits in my face and leaves my neck alone. His left eye is purple from the beatings he just got and blood oozes out of his nose.

My knuckles are busted together with my lips.

I chuckle at his statement.

"Would you guys stop this madness?" Cody yells at us.

"Leave them to fight brother" Caden says in an evil tone.

"Don't you have her? You do right? She's your girlfriend" I spit in his face. Alec is quiet and I take that as a yes.

"Even if you tell her of my plans, its not gonna stop me from executing them. Understood?" I spit

Alec takes in ragged breaths and glares at me.

"Nikki hasn't done anything to deserve this! She has always been there for you!" He hollers back

"Ask her what she did" I reply simply and walk away with my gang members.

Nicole POV:

I dump my books into my locker a few metres away from it. After the appalling incident that occurred in the morning, I have become extra careful in doing my things. I could feel my feet wobble as I trudge down the hallway having the eagle's eye in order to spot any fishy thing that could lead to my humiliation. I placed myself in this challenge and I have to face it and dance to the music.

Alec walks towards me. I gasp when I see him. He looks like he just wrestled with  John Cena.

His left eye is purple, his knuckles are busted so as his lips and blood oozes out of his nose.

"What happened to you? You look terrifying!" I blurt.

He sighs and stands in front of me.

"I just had a fight" he shrugs.

"With who?" I ask

He looks frustrated with my questions.

"Enough with the questions okay? I need to tell you something important" he snaps and I furrow my eyebrows perplexed.

"Oh Kay" I drawl as I let him drag me to the snack bar. We sit at at a table. I touched his purple eye.

"Whoever beat you up really did a great job" I say with a chuckle and he scoffs.

"I overheard Jake and his goons talking" Alec spits and I straighten up.

"It was about you obviously! They want to prank you tomorrow noon. Caden is responsible for it this time around" Alec says and I gulp. I knew they would be up to something! But I'm prepared! I'm not gonna fall for their game but Caden looks dangerous.

"Oh yeah. Don't worry about that cause Troy and Kimberly are planning a special treat for Jake tomorrow morning"I say with a shrug

" Caden is capable of anything Nikki! You need to be careful around that guy"Alec warns and a pit of fire forms in my stomach.

"Do you know those twins?" I ask tentatively.

"Yeah. I've heard a lot of rumours about them. Caden is the most dangerous. He is very treacherous and highly intelligent whiles Cody is calm but he's really smart and is a computer wizard as well" Alec states and I feel my stomach flip.

I knew Caden was the dangerous twin. My instincts were right! It was written all over his face.

"I know you are very intelligent Nikki! I know you wouldn't fall for their trap" Alec compliments and I nod.

"Thanks for the information Alec" I say gratefully

He nods with a smile but he looks hideous with those bruises. Jake walks by and I see he and Alec exchange glances. Did the two of them fight?  No it can't be. But Jake also looks like he has been beaten up.

"Now tell me! Who did this to you?" I demand and his face forms into a scowl.

Silence......

"Tell me!" I repeat

"Okay its my damn stepbrother" he spits angrily

"What?!" I blurt

I can't believe Jake could be so callous to do such a thing to his brother. I was expecting Alec to mention  a different name.

"Jake did this to you?" I ask him and he nods.

"What did you do to him?" Alec demands.

I furrow my eyebrows in confusion

"What do you mean?" I ask

"I mean, he said you did something to him that's why he is treating you this way" Alec explains and I realise what he's talking about.

"I just stood him up" I clarify

"That's why he is doing this?" Alec asks in disbelief

"Its kind of a long story"

Alec scoffs.
