Chapter 60: Chapter 60:

I slipped my headphones back on the moment Chemistry class came to an end and Aaron and I parted ways. I have Literature next. I'm currently walking down the hallway listening to the chorus of without me which was interrupted by Aaron not too long ago.

Most of the girls wave me and I wave back. Since the incident with Kate in the morning, I've been getting a lot of fans and I feel like a star. So far, I haven't been called to the principal's office and I haven't seen Kate either.

I file into the Literature Classroom and its half filled. I spot Jake among the students with Caden sitting at the back. Caden glowers at me as I walk by and Jake has red headphones in his ear now. I guess he copied my style. Loser.

I spot Claire and Melissa sitting in front so I go and sit behind them taking off the headphones yet again.

"What's with the headphones?" Melissa asks looking at her nails which she had painted red matching her hair colour.

"Just ignoring some unimportant people" I snort dumping my literature books on the table and Melissa chuckles.

"Unimportant people you mean? Like Kate?" Claire asks and I nod stiffly.

She giggles

"I saw the incident. I even have pictures of it" Claire says showing me the pictures on her phone.

I chuckle.

"Looks like she was having a Pepsi shower" I compliment and Claire chuckles.

"Girl, you have a bad temper!" Melissa compliments and I chuckle.

"I guess so but she deserved it anyways" I tell them.

"I heard you went on a date with Aaron Saturday night" Melissa spits and a pit of fire forms in my stomach.

"Yes....its true. Who told you?"

"Claire" Melissa says simply and I glower at her.

"Sorry! I just have a big mouth" she says tucking a strand of blonde hair behind her ear.

"Melissa its not what you think" I begin.

"Relax Nikki! Aaron and I weren't an actual couple. Even though I like him so much but he seems to like you more so" Melissa says with a shrug and a tinge of hurt in her voice.

"Do you like him too?" She asks without looking at me.

"Well....I...." I trail off.

"I do. He is such a good person" I find myself saying.

Melissa chuckles. "Yeah he is! You are so lucky Nicole to have him! Just keep him well" she says and I see tears brimmed in her eyes. I swallow hard and nod.

"Good afternoon students!" Our teacher announces and class begins. I steal a few glances at Jake. He wasn't looking at me. He was just looking at the teacher and I decide not to look at him again.

"So we will just continue with where we left off the last time on Shakespeare's Alls well that ends well" Our teacher says and I'm glad cause its one of my favourites. I have read it like a thousand times and I know the story line so well.

"So I would like to ask just five questions on the story" Our teacher says clearing her throat a bit and I listen.

"Do you think Bertram could have loved Helena back?"she asks.

Melissa raises her hand and she is called.

" well it was said in the story that Helena loved Bertram but he couldn't return his love for her. But I think he could have at least tried and see if he could"Melissa spits and I smile. It kind of relates to the story of Jake and I. He should have just tried but no! He wouldn't forget about that girl.

"Thank you Miss De Broglie. You may sit"

Melissa plants her butt on the chair.

"Any other views or opinions?"

"Yes Caden"

I swallow hard.

"I don't think he could have tried because he fell in love with Diana. There was no way he could have loved Helena and there was no way they could be together!" Caden spits and I feel my heart leak.

"Thank you Caden"

"Any one else?"

"I object to Caden's point because it was made clear at the end of the story that Helena and Bertram got back together and they fell in love with each other" a nerdy girl says at the back.

"Well that's true!" Our teacher says and smiles gratefully.

"Thank you all for your contributions. Next question"

"Do you think Helena should have moved on?Even if they got back together in the end?"

"Yes Jake" our teacher says and my heart skips a beat.

"No. Its good she didn't move on cause Bertram was only charmed with Diana's beauty. I know he loved Diana but he later fell in love with Helena in the end" Jake says and it pierces my heart.

"Thank you Jake. Anyone else?"

I raise my hand.

"I think she wasted too much time waiting for Bertram to love her back cause he was busy thinking of Diana when she was thinking about him! It was pointless" I tell the teacher and she smiles.

"Okay. Thank you Nicole! Anyone else?"

"Jake?"

"I object to what Nicole said cause as I said, he was in love with Diana but he still had some love for Helena" Jake spits

"That wasn't said in the story! He didn't love her! He only cared about Diana" I snap back.

"Okay so it wasn't said! But what if he had?" Jake asks me.

"We are not making assumptions here! We are using facts" I snap.

"You can make assumptions too" our teacher interrupts

"Okay! If he had some kind of little love for Helena, why did he abandon her? Why was he always with H... Diana?" I stutter about to say Helen.

"That's because he didn't notice it! But he loved her and Diana at the same time" Jake spits and I scrunch my eyebrows confused. The whole class is quiet.

"I don't think that's possible Mr Winters. But enough! Let's move on" our teacher states dryly and I sit down rolling my eyes. Was he indirectly telling me that he loves me and Helen at the same time or he was referring to the story?

"Do you think  Diana did the right thing? Stepping out of the way?"

Claire raises her hand and she is called.

"Well yeah cause Bertram and Helena were meant to be together" Claire answers with a shrug.

"Yeah! She did the right thing getting out of the way even though she loved Bertram" a guy at the back says.

"Okay interesting" Our teacher says obviously enjoying the class.

"Anyone else?"

No one raises their hand.

"Okay my next question is, do you think Bertram looked down upon Helena because she wasn't all that classy?"

"I think so because Helena wasn't all that rich so she couldn't buy  makeup and jewels to put on to actually enhance her beauty...." A guy at the back trails off and we all laugh.

"I'm sorry but I don't think that's the reason! It could be an assumption though" our teacher says between laughs.

"But yeah! Bertram looked down upon Helena" he concludes and sits down.

"Anyone else?"

"I don't think he necessarily looked down upon her! He was just in love with Diana and not her so that was what happened" another guy behind me.

"Hmm. I see"

The tocsin goes for lunch and our teacher groans.

"I just had this one last question for you all but the tocsin had to go"

"You can ask us" Claire pipes up.

"No. I'll save it for tomorrow"

Claire shrugs and packs her stuff.

My headphones are back on as I leave Literature class which has already come to an end walking towards the lunch room listening to

I enter the lunch room and the first person I see is Kate. I thought she had gone home by now to clean up. She was wearing a tight jacket for the yellow tee shirt I had successfully stained with Pepsi cola and her hair was still okay but the can wasn't on top anymore. I giggle. I guess she doesn't want her crown.

She glowers at me as I smirk and pass by to my gang's table.

I plant myself on a chair and face my friends who were glaring at me.

"Why are all of you looking at me like that?" I spit and they take their gaze off me.

"Told you she is still upset! You should have been here to see what happened in the morning" I hear Kimberly whisper to Troy and his eyes wants to pop out of their sockets.

"What did she do?" Troy whispers. I increase the volume of the music so that I don't have to listen to their silent gossip.

I pick up my apple tart and bite it with full force. I later see Troy laughing as Kimberly shows him a picture on her phone. I guess its the picture of me giving Kate the Pepsi bath.

I smile and take another bite.

Someone pecks my cheek and I look up to see Alec. I haven't seen him today. I remove the headphones.

"Would you chew more slowly or you are going to bite  your tongue" he teases and I chuckle.

"I saw you pour that drink on Kate. Then you left the can on her head" Alec reminds with a chuckle and I smirk.

He lays his Corn dogs in front of him and takes a bite.

"So which class did you have?" He asks me

"Literature" I tell him

"What about you?"

"History. Kate was there."

"So what do you have after lunch?" Alec asks me.

"I think I have Calculus"

"I also have the same class"

"Hey Alec!" Melissa says out of the blue sitting on our table.

"Hey red!" Alec replies and I giggle

"You don't give up do you?" Melissa asks quite indignant.

"No I don't red! Cause you are so red" Alec replies and I laugh.

"Alec! Seriously?" I blurt at him.

"Okay brownie" Melissa spits.

Alec chuckles

"I'm not brown Melissa" he taunts and sticks her tongue out making Alec do the same thing.

"You have brown hair Alec" I tell him

"Well I love my hair!" He tells me with a smile.

"Who doesn't?" I ask him raising an eyebrow.

"Hey hey!" Alec yells and I turn around to see who he was yelling at. Troy and Kimberly were busy making out but they stop when Alec throws an apple at them making me giggle.

"Alec!" Kimberly screeches.

"What? This is not your bedroom" Alec states obviously.

Kimberly rolls her eyes.

"It was just a kiss man" Troy spits.

"Not in front of me" Alec retaliates and they roll their eyes.

"Thanks for the apple anyway" Kimberly says with a smile.

"Since when did you turn into a..." I trail off.

"I know what you want to say but that thing scares me. Especially with those two weirdos! Its like they were about to swallow each other's faces" Alec says and I chuckle.

"Don't tell me you are afraid of that?" I taunt him.

"Besides, you have done it with many girls" Melissa adds.

"That is different. Its gross when I see it right in front of me" Alec spits and Melissa smiles

"Ooh....Alec is afraid" Melissa taunts and he tuts

" Hey "Aaron says from a distance walking with Danny towards us

" hey bro"Alec replies.

Aaron smiles and sits next to me whiles Danny went to sit by Jenna.

Troy and Kimberly got up already done with their food. They kiss again in front of Alec making him growl with a perfect scowl on his face. They chuckle when they see what they have done to him and leave.

"Its not a big deal" I convince Alec and he shrugs ruffling my hair a bit

"How was your class?" Aaron asks me as he gets ready to take a bite of his pizza.

I sigh exasperatedly thinking of the banter I had with Jake during Literature. Was he indirectly talking to me?

"It was fine" I tell him with a fake smile looking around for Jake. He was sitting at a table with Cody and Caden. Aurora too was amongst them and I see Kate make her way towards them. Jake is bobbing his head up and down into the music that was playing from his red headphones as he bit an apple in his hand as Kate was completely oblivious to him.

She goes to him directly and slips the headphones to his neck. Kate begins to sweet talk him and I could see he was bored with the expression on his face.

Why am I looking at him in the first place? After all that he has done?

"I've gotta go" I say shoving the last piece of apple tart into my mouth.

"Won't you wait so that I can escort you to your next class?" Aaron suggests.

"Thanks Aaron but I can go" I reply with a grin.

"Okay" he grins back and I peck him on the cheek before l leave the lunchroom.

Calculus was fine and my next lesson History went well. I am currently in my Honda Civic driving home with Trina in the passenger seat munching on some fries and jamming to some hit songs being played on the radio in my car.

"I can see you are no longer grumpy" Trina says with a slight giggle.

"That's because I am so into the song being played" I reply listening to Blank Space by Taylor Swift.

"I can see you have recovered too from your depression"

Trina shrugs.

"Yeah, I guess so"

"And Mason?"

"Oh Mason. Still the same old story and I don't think we are meant for each other"

I give her a sympathetic look.

"Its alright! I'm sure some guys are dying to befriend you so badly"

"Maybe" Trina says and puts her bottle of coke to her mouth taking a gulp.

"So may I ask what got you so grumpy yesterday and today?"

"Its just a few ridiculous assholes who are making my life miserable" I reply simply.

Trina chuckles

"So who are these ridiculous assholes?" She asks giggling a bit but I don't reply focusing on the road.

"So who picked you up with that hot glossy black Lamborghini yesterday?"  She enquires.

"Oh it was ummm......Troy" I lie knowing very we that it was Jake.

"Oh really because you came back grumpy! Was he the one who got you upset?"

"No. Troy doesn't upset me! He doesn't even know how to upset people!"

"Oh. So who upset you then?"

"That good for nothing Blondie" I reply and Trina chuckles

"Who? Kimberly?"

"No!"

"Claire?"

"No. Claire wouldn't do that"

"Hmm" Trina hums taking a wild guess. Then realization springs up on her face and she blurts the monster's name.

"Jake!"

I nod in approval as I negotiate a curve.
