However, an accident happened —he got seriously injured while blocking a bullet for the male lead. He thought he was dead, but he came back to life except, he lost his memories. He became a strong transformed being who only obeyed Xie Jianwei.

Xie Jianwei’s role has a double identity. He’s a good friend of the main character as well —a young Chinese man with a weak body but astute mind. On the other hand, he is also the biggest villain in the background, the same person the male lead abhorred.

It’s a very difficult role to execute. Although he felt that Xie Jianwei is qualified for the part, Hossenfeld was still worried that Lu Li’s acting skills would overwhelm Xie Jianwei’s, but upon witnessing the two people’s high acting compatibility during the audition, he’s not concerned with that issue anymore.

When Xie Jianwei first saw the script, his mind became full of nostalgia, because Lu Li’s role as the transformed being reminded him of something that happened on reality.

A few years ago, Lu Li had sustained a life-threatening injury, but there was no way to treat him without escaping that hellhole. With  no other choice, Xie Jianwei froze Lu Li’s body to slow down the worsening of the injuries while at the same time maintained his neural connections. Xie Jianwei then put him into  a fighting mecha and connected his brain into it, so that Lu Li could become a“ War God” that could continue dealing with the enemies.5

During that time, Lu Li was really not a human being. With his body made of steel, he was afraid of hurting Xie Jianwei with just one touch. After all,  Xie Jianwei’s entire palm could only hold one of  Lu Li’s fingers, and those fingers itself  were  high-power impact guns that can destroy mountain.

Lu Li practiced extreme cautiousness around him, while Xie Jianwei enjoyed watching the former’s clumsy appearance and found it extremely adorable.

“War God” was Xie Jianwei’s masterpiece, and to this day, that name was still engraved on Lu Li’s chest, like a life-long vow.

Although there’s a huge difference between a transformed human and turning into a “War God”, the dreariness Xie Jianwei felt, and was feeling because of two’s circumstances was similar. And it made him want to constantly touch Lu Li.

Lu Li and Xie Jianwei were quite open with their intimacy thus it didn’t take too long for Hossenfeld to realize that there was some sort of relationship between them. He asked Lu Li: “Dwarf(ǎirén) ?”

With his poor Chinese, it took a few seconds for his listener to understand that he was saying “Lover(àiren) ?” Lu Li smiled and nodded.

With a snap of his fingers, Hossenfeld made some adjustments on the script. On the film’s finale, Xie Jianwei, who committed numerous heinous actions, fell off a cliff and died. And this time, Director Hossenfeld changed it so that Lu Li would follow the villain into his death ¾meaning he would also throw himself into the cliff…

After the correction, the director said: “Romantic!”

Xie Jianwei : “…” What kind of shitty plot is that!

Parents are always half match and siblings will have 25% chance of being a perfect match7 .

This may sound a bit low, but it Xie Jianwei was somehow sure that in this dream, he and Xie Zhiwei would match without any problems.

Why so confident?

Because what is the use of this leukemia scenario if it’s not successful?

Also,Tones (in MC, there are four plus one neutral) are also important for proper communication. So in here, Hossenfeld said kāopù instead of the correct  kàopǔ (reliable). I can’t really find any particular meaning to kāopù, but kāo has the same tone for the character 操(cāo ). And, 操(cào/cāo) is one of the substitutes for the term  肏(cào), which means fck.
