Chapter 386 Wanting To Learn Medicine âSo, it was an accident?â Samuel asked with an eyebrow raised.
âThe snake can be found in this mountain itself, so it is possible that the snake came here to hibernate due to the hot springs in the area,â Billy replied.
âMs. Jolene has been working here for over ten years, hasnât she?â Samuel asked.
âSir, you donât think she did it, do you?â Billy instinctively dismissed the possibility of Jolene being involved. Iâve seen her at work in the past two years. Ms. Jolene is a very responsible person who always pays great attention to detail. The snake showing up at the resort was probably just a careless mistake on her part.
âRegardless of whether she did it or not, she is still at fault for Nat getting hurt. I could have her killed for that. In view of her great performance over her many years of service, Iâm willing to spare her the cruel punishments. However, the Bowers family will never hire someone like her ever again,â Samuel said coldly.
Billy knew full well that Natalie meant the world to Samuel, and that he was being incredibly merciful toward Jolene.
âUnderstood, Sir,â he replied with a nod.
After breakfast, Samuel drove Natalie and Sophia back to the Bowers residence. As the other three boys couldnât fit into the Hummer, they had no choice but to return in Billyâs Maybach.
Gavin quickly came out to welcome them the moment their cars arrived at the Bowers residence.
Natalie was flipping through the latest medical magazine on the couch after lunch.
Sophia walked up to her with a glass of orange juice in hand and asked with a smile, âMommy, can I talk to you about something?â
The three boys kept quiet and simply stared at Natalie from afar.
Hmm... She mustâve done something wrong if sheâs behaving strangely like this.
With that in mind, Natalie took the glass of orange juice from her and asked casually, âAll right, then. Letâs hear it.â
Sophia was clearly nervous as she kept twiddling her fingers the whole time.
âWell, I...â After stammering for a bit, she finally mustered the courage and said, âI want to learn medicine from you, Mommy. I want to be your student and learn to treat patients!â
Natalie froze as she wasnât expecting for Sophia to make such a request.
Mom and Granddad have told me that many envy the Bayer familyâs medicinal knowledge. Thereâs no telling if spreading the knowledge will lead to disaster, so their ancestors refused to teach it to anyone outside of their family lineage.
Sophia grew nervous when she saw no response from Natalie.
âC-Canât I learn it?â
âNo, you canât,â Natalie replied reluctantly.
âBut I really want to learn it!â Sophiaâs eyes reddened instantly, and she clenched her fists as she continued, âYou got bitten by a snake in order to save me! If I were as good as you are, I couldâve helped treat you instead of just crying like a useless person...â
Natalie felt her heart ache when she heard what Sophia said.
âIs that why you wanted to learn it?â
Sophia nodded profusely. âYeah! I want to become a great doctor so I can treat you, Daddy, my brothers, Great-grandpa, Uncle Steven... It hurts a lot when we are sick, so I want to help them get better!â
Such a soft voice, and yet such a strong ambition... Sheâs still too young to word it very well, but I can tell she has a strong desire to save lives. Even if she isnât related to the Bayer family, passing their medicinal knowledge down to her would probably benefit humanity...
With that in mind, Natalie said, âMedicine is a very difficult thing to study, Sophia.â
Sophia looked up at her with a serious look in her eyes. âIâm not afraid of it being difficult!â
âVery well, then. I want you to memorize the first chapter of Esoteric Medical Doctrine, and Iâll give you a test on Friday. If you pass, Iâll take you in as my disciple. If you fail, then you shall not ask me to teach you medicine ever again.â
