Chapter 833 Love Cannot Be Forced Luna nodded at Steven before turning to leave.
As he stared at Lunaâs diminishing silhouette, a hint of sympathy flashed across Stevenâs eyes.
After a moment of deliberation, Steven picked up his pace and strode in the direction Luna had left.
By then, Luna had arrived at the hospital garden.
Her face was red from running too quickly as she bent her body and placed her hands on her knees, panting for air.
After a while, she lifted her head to look at the moon. Tears poured continuously from the corner of her eyes, leaving a wet trail on her small face.
When Steven caught up to Luna, he saw her standing in the middle of the garden. The moonlight illuminated the tear streaks on her delicate face, and her shoulders shook uncontrollably from crying too hard.
A frown appeared on Stevenâs face as he stared at Luna.
âMs. Garcia, are you alright?â
âWhy do you care?â With reddened eyes, Luna turned to look at Steven. âIâm upset. Am I not allowed to cry for a while?â
Ever since Luna found out that Natalie was Samâs woman, she seemed to be in low spirits.
After Natalie woke up and went to find Sam, Luna exited the ward with a disheveled look.
Upon seeing the scene in front of him, it only took Steven a few seconds to figure out Lunaâs feelings for Samuel.
âLove cannot be forced.â Steven took out a piece of tissue and passed it to Luna. âSam is head over heels for Natalie and would never spare another woman a look in his entire lifetime. Youâre an amazing woman, and youâre the heir of the Garcia family. I hope you can let it go and move on.â
With tears in her eyes, Luna blinked in puzzlement. âWhat are you talking about?â
âWas I not clear enough?â The frown on Stevenâs face deepened. âYou and Sam will never be together.â
Luna gaped at Steven, speechless. âMr. Steven, why would you say that?â
âWas I wrong?â
âWhat has any of this got to do with Mr. Samuel?â
âYouâre not upset because of Sam?â Steven asked, confused.
âNo.â Lunaâs eyebrows furrowed. âMy crying has nothing to do with Mr. Samuel.â
âThen...â Steven faltered.
âMy... grandpa passed away.â Luna crinkled the piece of tissue in her hand as her tears streamed down once again. âBefore he passed, he had asked me to treat and take care of Mr. Samuel. I had prepared myself to bid him farewell, yet when I received the news of his death this morning, I was still saddened that I wasnât even around to see him one last time and say goodbye.â
Luna sniffed. âMy folks died in a war a long time ago. Grandpa was the one who raised me and loved me the most, yet I wasnât even by his side during his last moments on earth.â
It was only after hearing her explanation did Steven realize he had misunderstood Luna.
âIâm so sorry. I assumed that youâre upset because of Sam...â Steven rubbed the back of his head awkwardly.
âItâs true that I have seen Mr. Samuel and that I liked him. Grandpa had hoped that I would marry someone like Mr. Samuel in the future as well. However, if I were to count the times I have seen Mr. Samuel with my hand, I would only have one finger up.â
Luna paused before continuing, âNot to mention that he has Ms. Nichols now. Iâm not going to force him to love me.â
Lunaâs body looked extremely delicate.
With her blue dress fluttering in the night breeze, she looked undeniably beautiful under the moonlight. Her simple elegance was like a fresh breath of air.
She was not as fashionable as the women in the cities. Even so, Steven could not take his eyes off the woman with black hair as soft as silk.
âMr. Steven, Iâm not as senseless as you think I am. I know where my boundaries are.â Taking a deep breath, Luna cleared her mind and steadied herself. She turned to look Steven straight in the eye. âDonât worry. Once Iâve made sure Mr. Samuel is fine, I will be leaving Dellmoor and back to Greenview. I wonât be giving the Bowers family any more unnecessary inconveniences.â
âIâm not kicking you out,â replied Steven, getting defensive.
âI know,â Luna responded lightly. âBut once my job here is done, Iâll have to go back. My home is in Greenview, not here.â
Steven pursed his lips together and fell silent. However, for some strange reason, a sense of disappointment crept into his heart at the thought of Luna leaving.
