Third Person
another night, another basic LA party. The group had constantly asked themselves why they didn't just stay home and party together, but pushed the thoughts away any how, and carried on. It was just more memories that they would be making, so who would really complain.
Colby had been staring at the already drunken girl, who had her head thrown back in a fit of giggles. Tara, Kat, Salem, and Andrea were all laughing at their probably horrible drunk jokes. But that same burning, twisting sensation erupted in his stomach as he watched and couldn't help but smile, even if he didn't know what was going on. He trully was in love with Salem, he just didn't know how to tell her. He was ready to tell everyone in the world that he had finally found out what being happy was like, and he wanted everyone to know who was the source of that emotion.
Sam had watched his best friend of 7+ years, slowly fall in more. He couldn't remember how many times he had told Cole that it was destined to happen. That no matter what he did, he couldn't ignore the feeling and he couldn't fight love. Sam didn't realize how thankful he was to have Salem in all their lives, until he seen the smile that permanently stayed on Cole's face when she was around. He thought he was losing Colby for the longest time, the depression was taking his best friend and he had no way of stopping it, until Salem appeared. Of course, Salem wasn't some god who could just heal pain and take away depression, but she was a woman of many, many wonders. Sam, Jake, Corey, Cole's parents, none of them could even get as close to Cole like Salem did. Colby had finally found happiness, not that Sam didn't make him happy, but this was different. Sam didn't even know if him and Katrina were gonna last forever, let alone Colby and Salem. but something told him Colby and Salem had something not most people in life get to experience, something him and kat would never even remotely get close to. and that was okay. because his brother, best friend, forever soulmate, partner in crime, and colleague, had finally experienced love and happiness. and for that, he couldn't be anymore greatful.
"Go talk to her dude, you are smiling like a mad man.", Sam teased Colby. Jake pointed out Cole's now reddened neck and face, earning a small punch to the shoulder. But Colby listened anyway, and made his way over to her, immidiately grabbing onto her waist. Whatever he had been previously drinking, made his emotions go crazy. For whatever reason, he just wanted to remind her that he really did love her and appreciated her. But there was still something holding him back from saying that he was in love with her. Maybe the fact that this isn't exactly the best place to say something like that, or maybe it was fear. Fear that she didn't love him the way he loves her. Fear that she wasn't in love with him, that she only loves him. That's why relationships are scary, one persons emotions grow stronger than the other.
But he did know that she would die for him, like he would die for her. She does love him, everyone could see it. She was in love with him, she just couldn't say it. once you say those five words, its over. Its officially real and there's no going back. Neither of them wanted to lose each other, but neither of them knew that they were both fighting the same battle in their head.
"You okay?", Salem had quietly murmured when Cole laid his head on her shoulder, pressing a small kiss of appreciation on her bare shoulder. His throat was tight and dry, so he just hummed letting her know that all is well. Better than well actually, everything was great. except for the fact that he's a pussy, and scared of how he feels.
so he says something that he can't take back in the moment, "Can we talk outside for a minute? Maybe get some fresh air?"
Salem's heart dropped when she heard the words, but tried her best to relax. Colby got tired of being around groups of people all the time, she probably had nothing to worry about.
So after telling their friends where they would be, and Sam reminding the drunk couple multiple times, "no driving.", they made their way to Cole's Red Corolla.
Elton had destroyed the original "honey wagon", the one that Sam and Kat fell in love in, but had been nice enough to get Colby a brand new one, with 5,000 less miles, and less dents and scratches. Elton had a sick sense of humor, but Colby wasn't to mad since he bought a new one.
Salem stared at Colby once they got in the car. He looked like he was in a panic, so she reached out in confusion, and gripped onto his sweaty hand to let him know she was there if he needed to talk.
"Are you enjoying yourself?", Colby quietly mumbled after pressing a kiss to each of her knuckles. He nervously played with the rings, twisting them back and forth every so often, before going to another finger and repeating.
Salem couldn't help but laugh at his actions, but nodded a yes anyway. She loved being out with everyone, she was just confused on why Colby brought her outside, into his very hot and stick aired car. Salem didn't want to complain tho, so she wiped the sweat that had already built up, and wiped it with the back of her hand.
Colby noticed and turned the car on, not to drive of course, he couldn't put Salem or himself in any danger, but to turn the air on in attempt to cool the two down. LA had been oddly hot the past few days, and it was aggravating to most people.
Salem didn't want to seem annoying, or sound like she didnt enjoy the alone time, because she did, she absolutely loved being with Colby. most people would say its unhealthy the way the two are always together, but she didn't care. They had their time apart when it came to work, but she wanted her spare time to involve Colby.
"Are you feeling okay? Or are you just really drunk?", Colby couldn't help but snicker at her comment. Of course he was drunk. He was just to pussy, and busy fighting the voice inside his head telling him to say something.
"I am drunk, but I'm okay. Just wanted to get away with you for a little bit. I had something I wanted to say.", panic had set within Cole and he knew that this was the perfect time. If it went wrong, they would forget it by morning and he would blame it on the warm fuzzy feeling that the alcohol had gave him.
Salem sets her hand on his arm, giving it a small squeeze, and sending a look of concern. He didn't know it, but she was panicking inside as well. Salem had been dying to come undone and spill that she had fallen in love with him as well. She just didn't know how to go about it. What if he wasn't in love with her?
Colby ignored the caring girl in the passenger seat as he threw his head back with a sigh, he couldn't say it. But he needed to, it wasnt good for him to hold back the same five words. he needed to say it.
"I'm in love with you, Salem. I can't hide it anymore, I'm fucking in love with you."
Silence fell between the two, and they almost swore they could hear each other's heartbeats. isnt it strange what love can do to you?
Colby peered over at the girl, shocked at her reaction. She had a smug smile on her face, as she looked at him with bright eyes. It was completely dark outside, and he can barely see her face that was slightly illuminated by the street lights. But he could see her eyes, they had a certain shine to them. And she couldn't see his face, but she didn't need to. she could make out his face, feature by feature, in the pitch black. Crazy how the two had an effect on one another.
Salem reaches for his face and meet him half way, stopping before the two would kiss. She could see his eyes now, from the same street light barely shining in, and gave a small smile.
Colby wanted to know what was going on in her head right now. She had been a smiling mess, but still hadn't said a word, that's what scared Colby.
Salem drags her thumb smoothly across his freshly shaved face, something she found cute. Colby rarely grew facial hair, but shaved to feel a little more masculine. She could feel Colby's eyes following her every move, and she practically melted when his breathing went uneven at her touch. He was in love with her, she could feel it.
and she was so fucking in love with him.
"I'm in love with you.", and before he can reply she presses her lips to his, sealing the deal. She would've climbed over the center console, if it wasn't for the people who were walking in and out of the party consistently. But would it really matter? she was in love and he was in love, nothing could stop them. Their relationship felt untouchable, so she did. She smoothly swung her leg over his lap, making him grip onto her hips and lift her over, not bothering to remove his lips from her.
Colby felt ecstatic, untouchable, happy, and at home. Salem was his home and he was okay with that. For once, he was okay with being scared of love. because he knew deep down, that Salem was to and that's what made it all better. its not real, if isnt scary.
the two eventually pull away, making jokes about who was more of a pussy and how Salem had been dying to tell them. They were best friends, and it felt good that they never had an awkward encounter, no matter how weird the scenario was. Drunk, in Cole's red Corolla, in front of a random house party, telling each other that they are indeed in love, for the first time.
Salem wanted to be bold and give him a scare, "So hot shot. When are you gonna ask me to be your girlfriend? too pussy?"
Colby felt hot after her playful words. or maybe it was the way her hand had found its way under his shirt, and sat dangerously low on his hips. or maybe it was the way she sat on his laps with a smirk on her lips, he didn't know. but what he did know was that he wasn't leaving this car until she was officially his girlfriend, so he smoothly replies,
"Shut up, you've been my girl from the beginning."
