Daksha's POV:
"Darling! How are you?" I heard the voice which nearly made me drop my phone.
" Anna(brother)..." I squealed in surprise after hearing the gentle tone of my brother.
"Well, you still didn't answer my question." Â He said after chuckling a bit.
"Anna, is it really you? Only God knows how much I have missed you. I am doing well, Anna. What about you?" I asked him after recovering from my initial excitement.
"As usual. Just living." I heard him sigh from the other end.
After hearing his response, the smile on my lips faltered and my eyes filled with invisible tears. I placed my other hand on my mouth to not make any noise
"Anna, why donât you ever blame me for everything that happened? Why? Why do you still care for me when I did nothing but snatching your happiness?" I asked him with silent tears coming out of my eyes.
Even though the past happenings were not caused by me, they happened because of me. My family never once blamed me which increased my guilt to another level.
"Kiddo, it was not your fault. You do know that, right? So how can I blame you when you are the only ray of light that remained in my life?"
A sob erupted from my mouth after hearing his response. What he said was true.
He never treated me like his sister but treated me like his own daughter. He always thinks about me before doing anything.
"Anna, I miss you so much. Please come back. Let's face everything together, okay? When you are not beside me, I feel like I lost my backing. Anna, you always make me feel strong and I always feel like I can do anything because I got your back. Do you know Anna? I am getting married. Can you at least attend my marriage?" I asked him, waiting expectantly for his reply.
There was a moment of silence and I didn't get any response from him. Knowing his answer very well, I sighed disappointedly.
"I understand, Anna. I won't forc- " He cut me off in the middle.
"I will come in a month or so but I can't make it to your wedding. So, please forgive me. Just remember that my blessings will always be with you. I can't disappoint Mom and Dad anymore,"
I was a little disappointed about the fact that he couldn't attend my wedding but I was so happy to know that he was finally going to return.
"No problem, Anna. I understand. I just want you to come back. It doesn't matter if it is for my wedding or not," I replied to him excitedly.
"Your groom's name is Arjun, right? He is a nice guy. Try to give yourself a chance. If he troubles you in the future, just come to me. I will make him taste my fists."
"Hahaha. It looks like you are really well informed. He irritates me a lot. So your fists are going to get a lot of work in the future," I told him while laughing.
"Of course. Even if I am not there with you, I will keep an eye out for you. I appointed someone to protect you secretly. He gives me regular updates on you. And It's so good to hear you laughing after a long time," He told me and I smiled after hearing his words.
"So my guess is correct. I always feel like someone is following me. So, it's your doing. To be frank, Anna. I have mixed feelings about this marriage. Even though I am happy when I am around Arjun, some part of my heart is nagging me that I don't deserve him and these newfound feelings are really confusing me. I really don't know where my life is heading to," I confided my worries to him.
"Silly girl," I could hear his scoff as he continued, "It's clearly him who doesn't deserve you. You are my baby sis. He is so lucky that he got you to marry him. So, never say that you don't deserve him. He is not a God. He is also a human with flaws. The thing is, you are just afraid that he may leave you after knowing your past, right?" He paused for a while and continued.
"Even though I don't like him as he is gonna keep my little sis to himself, I can assure you that he will never do that. I investigated every little detail about him. From what I got to know, he is really a good person and he doesn't seem like a person who will forget his responsibilities and leave them in their struggles. So, don't worry. You made the right decision about this marriage. You deserve all the happiness in this world. Just remember that your brother will always be there for you."
"Hahaha. For every brother, his brother-in-law is an enemy. Thanks, Anna. I feel so relieved after talking to you. All my fears got vanished. Just try to be there for my wedding. How can I get married without your presence? I will understand if you can't make it but please try your best to come." I pleaded with him a little.
"Okay, I will try to be there. But no promises. Darling, don't let anyone know about this phone call or my return, including Mom and Dad. Let it be a secret between us," he said, making me laugh a little because I could understand his fear.
If my Mom came to know about this, after his return, he would surely get a good beating. Yeah, beating. My Mom still uses her rolling pin on my Dad and my brother to release her frustration.
In the past, whenever she used to do that, my brother would always ask her how she could beat a fully grown man with a height of six feet.
Her reply would be, âFor a mother, even if her children have children of their own, he or she is still a child to her and she can still beat him.'
I smiled remembering our happy days where we used to laugh together when we used to pull each other's legs. I sighed and agreed to his request.
"There is another thing I wanted to ask you. Help me finding a trustable person to handle the fashion line. I am going to reopen her fashion brand again. If possible, try to find that person before my return," I was a little surprised but not shocked because the same thing was running in my mind too. I also wanted to start her fashion brand again.
"Sure. I will do it. I also thought to talk to Dad about opening it again. I will be on it after my wedding is done,â I replied to him.
"No problem, kiddo. I would have done that by myself gladly if it didnât need my presence. So, I have to trouble you for that, kiddo. Try to open up to Arjun and take your time to tell him about your past. But don't take too much time otherwise it will create unnecessary problems in your life. So, take care. Gotta go. Bye. Will see you soon." After saying this, he hung the call without waiting for my reply. Seemed like he was really busy.
"I will, Anna. I will do it for sure," I said to myself.
I started my car again and drove off to my apartment.
I entered the apartment and saw that Rishu and Yuktha had had their eyes glued to the television watching some soap operas.
So, I didn't disturb them because if I did, Yuktha would start with the entire story of that stupid daily soap. I went to Aaru's room and opened the door very slowly to see what she was doing.
After opening the door, I saw that she was studying for her exams just like a good girl while occasionally eating the chocolate which was in her hand.
"If exams can keep a full stop to her blabbering, I want her to have exams every day," I thought in my mind and went to my room to freshen up.
After that, I again went to the living room, taking my mobile phone along with me.
Seeing them still watch that daily soap, I went to the kitchen. I brought the dishes to the dining area and set the table.
I called them to have their dinner but they told me that they would have it later. So I ate dinner as I was hungry. After having my dinner, I sat there while sipping on my juice.
Meanwhile, my phone pinged indicating that I received a message. I opened it and saw that it was a message from an unknown number.
[Meet me tomorrow at 4 p.m at the cafe near your hospital. You have to sign some documents.
-Arjun. ]
"God! Straight to the point. Why is he talking as if I am one of his clients? Stupid fellow. I think he doesn't have a single romantic bone in his body, otherwise who talks like this with his soon-to-be wife? Seriously, am I really getting married to this fellow? That too in a week?" I shook my head with a sigh and replied to him with an okay.
"Woah!Akka!" A cry of surprise near my ear scared the hell out of me. I turned to see the intruder and found it was none other than Aarna.
"What the hell, girl? You literally gave me a heart attack. Why did you come so silently? " I asked her after placing a hand over my heart.
She scoffed and said while shaking her dramatically, "You would have noticed me if you weren't in your la la la land, busy with the thoughts of your soon to be husband."
"Go away. So annoying. Eat your food and concentrate on your studies. Stupid girl."
Saying this, I was about to stand up from the chair but she stopped me by holding my hand and motioned me with her eyes to sit there for a while. I rolled my eyes and sat there. She also took a seat.
"Ahem... I might have accidentally read your message from that airport guy," she told me, smiling at me while displaying all her teeth.
"Please. Don't behave like an innocent, okay? I know that you intentionally peeked into my phone." I told her while scoffing.
"Okay... I agree. I saw it intentionally. But listen to me. I saw that he mentioned something about signing some documents. I think he is going to ask you to agree to contract marriage and that's why he mentioned the documents. Akka, I am telling you. If he asks you to agree to any contractual marriage, just give him a tight slap and a good lecture, okay? Don't agree with it. I am with you on this," she said while giving me an air fist bump and went to join the other two. Her words made me fall into deep thoughts.
.
.
Will he ask me to agree to a contract marriage?
.
.
If it is indeed true
.
.
Then Arjun...Be ready to get your a** kicked by me.
