*One Week Later*
Katie's P.O.V.
"I'll only be gone for a couple days." Asher said to me as he pulled me into a tight embrace. "The alpha meeting was urgent." He lied.
I hugged him back and inhaled his scent, he smelled like axe and... Nature? Yeah... "I love you, I'll see you when you get back." 'Or when I meet you there...' I say in my head. I blocked Asher out so he couldn't hear me.
You might think I'm an idiot for sneaking around and following him. Well you're correct, I'm in fact an idiot. That's why I'm doing this. Also, if anyone is going to try and take down my father, then I'd rather it be me than Asher. For all my life I've lived in hell through that man and I don't even consider him a father.
"I love you too." He places a final kiss on my lips before getting in the car, along with Colton and a few other members. John stayed back to watch over the pack. Asher waved to me as he left and I waved back. After he was out of sight, I ran into the house and packed a bag. I quietly did so, I didn't want John finding out and telling Asher I was on my way, which would ruin everything.
Once I was done, I quietly went downstairs and out the front door. Luckily, no one was around. I dropped my bag and shifted into my wolf. I grabbed the bag with my teeth and ran towards my pack... Midnight Risers. This will be one hell of a trip. Even though I don't remember what happened last time, I know it had to be bad considering I was in a coma for four months.
As I ran, I could smell Asher's scent, he smelled so good. Now typically that'd be a weird thing to say, but I'm a wolf so whatever. I took all the back ways so he wouldn't catch my scent and know I was following him. That would ruin everything.
My wolf was complaining that we were disobeying Asher's command, not only because he is my mate, but also the alpha. I managed to push through her reluctant state and keep moving forward.
Suddenly I was tackled to the ground and landed with a 'thump'. When I got back on all fours, I was surrounded by five other wolves, rogues to be exact. I went behind a tree and put on a large T-shirt that luckily covered everything. When I walked back out, they were still in wolf form. Once again, I'm an idiot for changing into my human form with a bunch of wolves circling me. The only reason I did it was because if they wanted to kill me, they could have easily done it in my wolf form. There's no way I could take on 5 large wolves. "I won't tell anyone I saw you if you let me go now." I say confidently.
One by one they all start shifting into their human forms, leaving them stark naked and me super uncomfortable. "Why should we? You're an alpha's mate, we can't trust you." The guy with black snapped at me.
I rolled my eyes. "Just because my mates an alpha? You're not even on our territory." I point out.
He raises his eye brows. "We're rogues, we should kill you." He says take a 'threatening' step towards me.
I kept my place and crossed my arms over my chest. "Then do it."
"You're supposed to be scared out of your mind now." The guy with blonde hair states.
I scoff. "Why would I be scared of death?" Ok, I'm scared shitless. Keep your cool, keep your cool.
"Just go." The guy with black her snaps.
I smirk. "K, bye." I turn around to grab my bag but the guy with black hair calls for me to wait. I turn around once again but this time with an annoyed expression. "Yes?"
"Why are you traveling along?" He asks.
"Do you know about the Midnight Risers pack?" I ask in a bored tone.
His face turns into anger. "Alpha Miller killed my mate." The guy snaps.
"I'm sorry." My father is truly evil, even if they are rogues; no one deserves to have their mate killed. "I'm going to kill him." I state.
The group of guys literally starts laughing like hyenas. I roll my eyes, annoyed with their reaction. "You? Kill alpha Miller?!" The guy with blonde hair question while clenching his stomach.
"He happens to be my father." All humor is erased from their face and the guy with black hair pins me against a tree harshly. Why do I say things?! For now on I should just stay silent.
"Now I'm definitely going to kill you." He growls.
"He's trying to kill mate," I croak out, his grip around my neck making it hard to speak. "My father hates me so killing me won't affect him."
The guy glares at me but slowly releases me. "Shouldn't your mate be helping you?" He snarls.
I nod, also trying to catch my breath. "He and four other alphas are there now trying to kill him."
"Why are you going there then?" He asks suspiciously.
I stand up straight and look him in the eyes with all the seriousness my my mind can muster. "I want to be the one to kill him."
The guy smirks. "Then I'll let you go, on one condition."
I raise an eyebrow. "What would that be?"
"Let me go with, I want to see him dead."
I nod, not really thinking straight. "Well let's go." I shift back into my wolf and they do the same. I grab my bag with my mouth and we start running towards Midnight Risers.
Asher's P.O.V.
My wolf was internally scolding me for lying to our mate, but I had to do what was best. I didn't see it as lying, only protecting her. As I drove away from the pack house, I already missed her. Her scent was still on me, driving me crazy with only want for her.
I looked over to see Colton fidgeting in his seat, which was driving me crazy. "Dude, what is wrong with you? Sit still!" I said to him.
He groaned. "I can't, I'm nervous... I just really want to see Heather..." He tells me.
I know the feeling...
"Think of it this way, these are your last moments of freedom before you're tied down to a mate." Peter said to Colton. I scoffed at his comment, if only Peter knew how it actually felt to have a mate then he'd understand.
Colton growled at him. "I'm not tied down to a mate, I love her and want to be with her." He says to Peter.
Peter raised his hands in defense. "Just saying."
"Enough," I demanded using my alpha tone. They immediately shut up and went back to whatever it was they were doing before. Except Colton, he didn't keep moving around thank God.
"Are the other alphas meeting us there?" Colton asks.
"We're meeting them outside the Midnight Riser's territory." I informed him.
He nodded. "Sounds good."
I scoffed. "Nothing's good about this situation."
He rolled he eyes. Since he's my best friend and beta, I let it slide. Typically if a normal pack member did that, I'd be beating the shit out of him. "You know what I mean."
After driving for a couple hours, we were finally at the edge of Midnight Riser's territory. Waiting there was all the alphas and forty other wolves. Now you may be wondering why we need so many fighters. It's because the Midnight Risers pack is very strong, and sneaky. Plus, they have a pack of over 200 while we only have 75 wolves, five of them being alphas.
Our main goal for today is to kill Alpha Miller for what he has done. It's cruel and evil, even for an alpha. In the end, one of the five alphas will claim the land as theirs and most likely combine it with their land. I have no interest in it, and I'm sure Katie wouldn't appreciate me having it. With all the bad memories she's had here and all.
"Asher," Alpha Troy greeted me.
"Troy," We did a hand shake and I went to greet the other alphas and wolves.
"Stand your positions." Troy commands his men, the rest of the alphas including myself tell me to do the same. We all stand ten feet apart, almost surrounding the whole territory. Besides the alphas, everyone shifts and we begin entering Midnight Risers territory.
'Eyes open.' I demand to my men through our mind link. I receive a 'Yes Alpha' from all of them at the same time.
Suddenly there were loud growls and seven large black wolves appeared from behind the trees. "We came to talk to your alpha." I lie to them. They all shifted into their human forms.
"Why are there so many of you?" He growls out.
"Protection, now let us meet with your alpha." I demand using my alpha tone. Even though they aren't apart of my pack the tone will still affect them.
I could tell the guy was trying to hold my strong stare, but no luck. He turned away and shifted back into his wolf ad started leading the way towards his pack house.
After walking for a few minutes we arrived at the pack house. A few of us were about to step up the stairs and into the house, but three of the Midnight Riser's member stopped us and growled. "Only two of you." He snarls out.
I roll up my eyes at his attempt to frighten me. "Step aside, pup." He growled at my words and I stood there with an amused look on my face. "Only two of us are going in." I state. He reluctantly moves to the side and both Troy and I walk inside the house with a guy in front of us, we followed him and then we enter Alpha Miller's office. He sits there mindlessly looking through papers.
"Alpha," The guy in front of us bows his head in respect towards Miller, which he doesn't even look up to notice. "Alpha Troy and Asher are he." He announces, obviously annoyed.
That catches Miller's attention because he immediately snaps his head up and glares at both Troy and I. "What the hell are you doing here?" He questions while standing.
"We need you to step down from your Alpha position." Troy states.
Miller lets out a laugh, this was an expected reaction. I don't know an alpha that would be willing to step down. We're just simply giving him the option to step down without being killed, but it's obvious he isn't going down without a fight. "And why's that?" Miller asks with a amusement glint in his eyes.
"The alphas of the USA, including all 12 packs, obviously not including you, have spoken and you're not worthy of the alpha title. You've used your power for the worse and we can't have that any longer. Not only is it cruel, but you risk us getting exposed by your cruel ways." Troy explains to him.
Miller huffs and takes a step towards us. "I'll give you ten minutes to get the hell of my territory before I rip your throats out. Am I clear?"
"You've given us no choice but to start a war if you don't agree to step down." I say to him.
"You can't just come here and tell me I can't be alpha anymore! It's in my blood, I was born to be an alpha!" He snarls at both Troy and I.
"You've lost the privilege to call yourself an alpha when you started killing your pack members off one by one. Oh! And intentionally harming my mate and your daughter!" I growl at him, my wolf now threatening to come out.
"Katie will hate you if you kill me." He says with a smirk, obviously trying to be with me.
I stepped towards him so we're only a couple feet apart. "Katie wanted to kill you herself." I say to him.
He's taken back by what I've said to him, his face quickly turns into an angry expression. "I'm killing you both!" Suddenly, Miller turns into his wolf and Troy and I do the same.
As Miller starts attacking us, we end up outside somehow. Who knows, don't ask. Anyway, Miller is actually a very large black wolf that's roughly Troy and I combined. He's skillfully trained so taking him down is not going to be an easy task.
As soon as the other alphas see us, they change into their wolves and also start attacking the other pack members that joined in the fight.
Miller bites into my neck and I immediately retaliate by doing the same to his front right leg. He yaps in pain but smoothly recovers and begins attack me again. Troy is fighting off different wolves that keep going at him. It's amusing to watch because it's like he flicks them off as if they weigh nothing.
All of sudden I feel a sharp pain in my neck once again and end up crashing on the ground and Miller towers over me, he's about to attack once again but then something happens. I don't know whether to be beyond pissed or thank the moon goddess. A familiar brown and crimson colored wolf attacks Miller from the side and they end up rolling around three times before stopping completely.
'What the hell are you doing here?!' I ask Katie through our mind link.
'Now is not the time for questions.' She snaps back and then proceeds to walk in a circle which Miller is also doing. He growls loudly at Katie, which sets me off. I step beside her, ultimately stopping the circle motion they were doing.
Then Miller does something also unexpected, he lungs for Katie. I know that he doesn't really love her, but I wasn't expecting him to attack his own daughter. The man really is heartless. I grab his leg with my jaw and he snaps his attention towards me.
Katie practically jumps on top of Miller and begs tearing at his wolf, ripping his fur and even some of the skin. Who knew my small mate could be so violent...
Miller yelps in pain and crashes to the ground. He turns back into his human form, his wolf not being able to handle the pain any further. All of a sudden, the fighting stops and everyone is watching us. Katie hovers over Miller and growls loudly. The reason they aren't attacking her is because she's the alpha's daughter, and it's forbidden unless you'd like to die a cruel and unusual punishment.
'Step aside, Katie. You don't have to do this.' I tell her, but not demanding. I'm giving her a choice, a chance for her to choose.
"Katie, sweetheart." Miller croaks out. He's only acting this way towards her because she has the ability to kill him. "Don't do this, I love you. Your mother and I do." What a manipulative bastard.
'Yes... I do.' She says. Then she bites down on his human neck, killing him within seconds.
Everyone freezes, not knowing what to say. Katie walks behind a tree and when she returns she's in a large T-shirt. I shift into my human form and wrap my arms around her, comforting her while she sobs.
One by one, each of the wolves shift.
"I can't believe I did that..." Katie sobbed into my chest. My heart broke as I heard her cries. I wrapped my arms around her tighter and kissed the top of her head.
"Asher," Alpha Tristan said calmly, obviously not wanting to upset or startle my mate even more. "I was wondering I could take over Miller's old territory. Seeing how I'm the closest one to his, we could easily expand. It would also give my two boys a chance to both be alphas." He says.
I know the rest of the alphas hear because they were looking at him with curious gazes. I know Tristan is a good alpha and would never do anything to hurt pack member intentionally. "As long as the rest of the alphas agree, then I don't mind." I say to him. I look around and so does he. Everyone nods in approval and Tristan thanks us.
"What have you done?!" Shouting comes from Katie's mother. She is frantically walking toward is with tears streaming down her face.
Katie automatically turns towards her mother, sorrow is written all over her face. "I had to." She whispered.
Her mother sniffles while wiping away her tears. "He was my mate! How you could you kill him?!"
"He tried to kill mine!" Katie cried and she ran her fingers through her hair. "Your mate, my father, he was a terrible man."
"You bitch! You've ruined our lives! We wanted a son so he could take over the pack but instead we got you!" Her mother says while pointing a finger at her.
Before Katie could reply, I push her behind me and step closer to her mom. "Don't you dare speak to my mate this way! You are no longer the alpha female, so I have every right to kill you for speaking to her that way." I snarl.
She's taken back by my tone and frightened. "She's my daughter!"
"Then act like it!" I screamed at her. She tears her eyes away from mine, not being able to do,I ate the glare. Then she storms back into the house and we all hear her the faint sound of her sobs.
I turn around to see Katie, tears streaming down her face. "This is all my fault." She lets out a sob.
I once again bring her in for a tight embrace. "You helped so many people-"
"Colton!" I was cut off by the sound of Colton's mate, Heather.
Both Katie and I saw as she ran and hugged Colton. My point proven. "See, you saved so many lives." I tell her while push back a strand of hair and putting it behind her hair. I wipe away her fallen tears with the pad of my thumb and place a kiss on her forehead.
"I'm so glad you're ok." She whispered out.
I cupped her face with my hands and crashed my lips to hers. "I was thinking the same thing about you." I said once I pulled out of the kiss.
She smiled shyly at me and was about to say something but someone cut her off. "Thank you." I looked behind her and saw a rogue. I quickly pushed her behind me and growled at him.
"Asher, it's ok. I know him." She said while putting a hand on my shoulder, instantly calming me down. Katie walked around my and went by the rogue, I quickly followed.
"Thank you so much for killing the bastard." The rogue spoke. How does she know him?
"How do you know my mate?" I asked him.
"I met her in the forest today." He says.
"What is your name?"
"I am Phillip." He says.
I look behind him and see four other guys. "And they are?"
"Carter, Stephan, Luke, and Michael."
I give a curt nod and they return the nod. "Asher, they helped me get here." Katie tells me.
"Thank you." I say to the rogues.
"Also, they wanted to know if they can join the pack." She says to me.
I raise an eyebrow. "You do?" I ask them. Typically I don't let rogues into my pack, it's far too risky.
Phillip nods. "Yes, Alpha."
He's the politest rogue I know... "For helping my mate, it's the least I can do." I say to them.
They all bow in respect. "Thank you Alpha." And with that they walk away and I go over to where Colton and Heather are. Colton has his hands securely around her waist, he obviously has no intention of letting her go anytime soon. I was just like that when Katie and I weren't mated her. I was a nervous wreck to say the least.
"Thank you, Katie." Colton says to her.
She smiles at him brightly. "It's the least I can do for the most annoying person ever." She teases.
He playfully glares. "Don't talk about yourself like that." He says.
Katie sticks her tongue out at him and then she looks to Heather. "Looks like we'll be seeing a lot more of each other." She says happily to Heather. Yup, Heather is now moving to my pack because she's Colton's mate.
"I know." Heather says to her with a bright smile.
"Come on, let's go home." I say to my pack.
I say goodbye to everyone and then we all head home. Finally, and without interruptions hopefully.
