I felt a hot wave of fire over me, taking control.
My eyes turning to blazing blue fires showing my power. I turned to the wolves who now seemed to hesitated for a moment, taking a step back.
I gave them a cold wolf smile my eyes gleeing hungry for blood at the sight in front of me. I opened my jaw itching to close it around their throat. I took a step towards them as they backed away knowing that in this game I was the predator and they were the prey.
I took in their wolfs. They were slightly bigger than me and a bit stronger. But I was faster and now stronger.
I let out an earthshaking roar my eyes and mark equally glowing.
I jumped at the closest one to me ripping out his throat easily as it froze in fear looking at the other wolves. I could smell the fear oozing out of them.
I opened my jaw and he dropped out down lifeless. I lifted my head curling back my lips exposing my fangs.
I growled at them to attack me. And in a flash they did. They snapped at me bitting my leg. I saw one come for my throat and I snapped at his first making him jump back. I twisted myself out of their hold, biting into anything close to me. I clawed at them hearing howls all around me.
I could feel my fur being ripped off of me and blood leaving my body but not once did I stop. I had gotten them tired so then I shook them off and moved to the trees.
I moved quickly trying to confused them. My blood pumped fast flowing with the blazing fire that moved me. I knew it would be harder all together so I had to get them one by one. Once they were circling one another, I began to attack.
I saw one of them was a few meters away from the others and saw him limping. I came out into view and stopped in front of him. I bit of a chunk off his side making him roar in pain. I knew the other would quickly come so I closed my jaw around his throat killing him.
Two down four to go.
I stepped away just as one of the wolves came into sight. His coat was soaked. There was no telling if it was from the rain or his blood.
He had is back to me looking down at my masterpiece. I could see his frame shake before turning to look around him. His eyes passed right over me not seeing me. He looked over me again this time seeing me because of my eyes blazing knowing his heart would soon stop beating.
I saw his eyes widen in fear as he started to run. All that was heard was a whimper from him as he took his last breathe when I jumped on him.
Three down three to go.
The last three wolves came into the scene at the same time. I slipped behind a tree as they did a quick sweep over the grounds. They looked at each other mind linking but still glancing around each other knowing I was around. They huddled closer together and headed back to the small clearing we where in.
They watched each other's backs the whole way. Once they got there they mind linked again glancing at the car crash.
As they started moving towards it, I stepped out from the trees growling. I didn't know why but I felt the need to protect what-who ever was in there.
They all turned to me crowded together again. I paced in front of them. When I snapped, they jumped.
One of them seemed tired to be played and jumped me but missed me when I side stepped him making him fall on his face. The others followed in suit. I managed to miss the next one but the last one got on me. I threw him off of me by grabbing the scruff of his neck.
I jumped on him but before I could close my jaw around his neck I felt jaws close around my already injured leg. I howled turning to the wolf. He gripped my leg not letting go. I bit his neck when I tried to wiggle out but couldn't.
He let go and all of them stood before me crouching ready to attack. I crouched too.
Then another wolf entered the small field. He looked around at the three rogues then at me. I saw the three rogue growl at him. I knew he wasn't with them but it made no difference.
The new wolf looked at me seeming surprised before looking at the car. I growled when he walked to the car ignoring the other three wolves. I was no longer playing with my prey. I was angry at the wolves around me trying to get to the car. They are not getting there!
When I turned my back to the other wolves ready to jump at the new wolf when they attacked me again. One of the wolves left their necks open as they went for my stomach. I immediately bit his throat ripping it out.
One wolf snapped at my side and the other tried to go for my throat. I stood watching them trying to figure out their next move.
I saw them moving to my sides trying to get me to work on both. I turned to the one on my left and clamped my teeth on his leg throwing him on the other wolf. He tried to get up but fell back down.
I looked at the other wolf that noticed the was alone and was about to run but I quickly clawed his stomach and and bit his throat.
I moved back to the wolf that laid on the ground still trying to get up. I walked to him as he tried to scramble away from me afraid. I jumped on him sinking my teeth into his throat feeling him jerk once then go limp under me.
I removed my fangs from his throat. Stepping back looking down at the four dead wolves already shifting back to human. Just like when any werewolf dies. They turn back to human.
As my heart began to slow down and the burning blood that courses through my blood backed down a bit, I finally noticed and heard the shouting behind me.
I turned to the car leaning on my uninjured leg already feeling the adrenaline rush of killing that numbed my pain before, slowly leaving me.
I turned to the car to see the new wolf I had forgotten about kneeling on the ground. Before him was a human.
My mate.
Whatever fire that had still been flowing through my blood vanished. I walked to him a different type of fire burning inside me. A fire that numbed my pain. A fire for him. A fire to protect him.
I limped barely noticing it. I limped to him until I dropped down besides him. I realized that the wolf I saw walk in the field was Thomas. He had taken my mate out of the car while I- I killed the other wolves.
I was too focused on my mate to think about what just happened. I focused on him knowing if I let my mind go to it I would drown in my mind of fear.
I looked down at him my eyes instantly looking down his stomach seeing blood stream out of his left side which had a sharp large glass stuck in him.
My eye swept over his pale but still beautiful features. Somehow in the dark I could still see him perfectly. His skin was pale white. Those lips that not long ago I had kissed were blue from the cold. His face was covered in small scratches of glass. I cupped his face feeling the air leave as quickly as it had come.
His skin was ice cold making my heart beat faster than ever before in fear.
In this one second I found something I feared more than the fire I couldn't control. Not living with him. Not having him by my side.
"Zeiden? Zeiden! Baby!? Baby please look at me!" I shouted at him getting nothing in return. I looked up at Thomas only to see him staring at me shocked. I don't know from what part.
I looked down not knowing what to do. More scared than I have been all my life. And I have live most of my life in fear.
My hand began to shake as I brought them up to his neck to check for pulse. I pressed my warm hands against his ice cold skin.
Nothing.
I grabbed his wrist looking for a pulse to find nothing. "No," I whispered, "No. No. No! No!" I repeated tilting his head back and and began to pumping on his chest.
I fixed myself to control my strength to not break anything. I began to shake but continued to press his chest hard and fast.
I tried to search for the bond that brought me to him not finding anything. I pressed my lips against his blowing in air. And repeatedly pressed his chest.
I felt my own chest contradict closing my lungs making it hard to take in breathes. Thomas finally seemed to snap out of trance and gripped my arm. I looked up at him eyes wide only now noticing the hot thick tears trailing down my cheeks. Mixing with the cold rain.
He shook his head eyes steaming with tears too. I frowned in confusion. He wanted to give up. I looked down at my mate ad continued to pump his chest.
I suddenly felt the bond again but not what I expected. I felt it breaking.
It felt like I was being ripped apart. My whole body and mind pulled apart. I let out a howling cry at the sudden pain. Tears falling faster.
Thomas tightened his grip on my arm pulling my off of my mate but I stayed strong. I shoved Thomas making him land on his back and continued the repeat the steps relying on the stupid steps of CPR.
"No! Why goddess why?! Haven't you taken enough? You will not take him to!" I screamed pumping his chest.
I could feel my heart giving up slowly. My body tired. My arms ached but I didn't stop. I had only knew him for a few days and he had woken the last part of my heart that kept me going. And he was going to take it with him. He had been the air that brought me back to this world the day I meet him. And would be the air that leaves me the last day I live.
"Please. Zeiden! Baby! Come back to me. Baby please I need you." I repeated and I tried to get his heart to move again.
The seconds turned to minutes. Each second draining my hope. But I continued and Thomas let me.
It had only been three minutes but it felt like a life time when I heard the smallest, life stopping gasp. I stopped looking down at him hearing him take a gulp of air. And letting out a fog of cold air.
I breathed out relieved. "Thank you thank you. Moon goddess. Thank you!" I whispered kissing his cheek then his lips and falling down besides him.
Thomas gasped besides me. He was shaking in shock. I shook his shoulders trying to get my mind to clear.
"Thomas," he looked away from my mate and to my eyes, "we have to get him to the pack." I said getting my voice back after all the screaming.
I looked back down at my mate seeing him so pale and fragile. I saw he still had blood flowing out of his side.
Since Thomas and I didn't have any cloth from the recent shift, I carefully ripped the bottom hem of Zeiden's shirt. I tried to get the glass out as gently as I could from his injury before rapping the string of cloth around him. He didn't make a sound still unconscious.
We would have to walk in human form to carry him. If we shifted he would move more and his injury would get more blood out.
Thomas picked him up as I urged him to run faster because he was still losing blood.
We had just gotten pass the border when the hail started to come down.
"Quick come on, Thomas!" I pulled tired Thomas towards a small cave that was more of a simple rock. It only covered a bit more then four feet of ground.
I told Thomas to put him down and to shift feeling the hail slowly come down faster. His wolf's big body able to block most of the hail for my mate. I knew we wouldn't make it to the pack house.
The hail suddenly came down at full force it's frozen pellets coming down hard. They scratched my soft skin feeling like fire everywhere it hit.
I yelled over the hail telling Thomas to cover my mate. He did without question. I shifted before standing over Thomas trying to cover the hail from them as much as possible.
I stabbing blocked of ice pierced my left side. I groaned out in pain when the hail came down repeatedly in the same spot.
Mason I mind linked growling in pain as the hail continued.
Rue! Were the hell are you? Is Thomas with you? We have be-
I cut him off. Mason! Listen to me. Uhhh I groan in pain hearing Thomas under me groaning more softly at the less but still sharp pellets that hit him.
Rue? What is goi-
Mason get a group and head to the north side of the territory. Just a bit away from the border. Bring stretchers and have the pack doctor in the pack house ready.
Yes alpha. He stopped with the questions. I could imagine him moving and ordering everyone around already.
And Mason?
Yes? He asked.
Hurry! I said groaning out trying to block the pain.
