Someoneâs poking me.
Groaning, I slumped my hand over the one which was poking me and shoved it away. With my other hand, I fisted the warm fluffy blanket and brushed my face against it.
So warm. So fluffy. So nice-
Poke. And another one, followed by a whisper that sounded like the speaker was suppressing the urge to burst out laughing.
âBethany. Bethany wake up.â
âFive minutes.â I grumbled against the blanket and swatted his hand away.
I heard the speaker sigh out loud. âYou said that the past half hour.â
âPlease?â I pleaded. I love sleeping.
âYou asked that too every time I woke you up.â He said.
Without any warning, the warm fluffy blanket that was wrapped around me making me a burrito was yanked off my body leaving me vulnerable to the cold morning weather- especially now that it was almost fall.
That woke me up. I sat up straight, the sudden cold waking up all of my senses then glared at the culprit. Blake sat on the edge of the bed with a sheepish smile.
After the second movie last night- so much for a movie marathon, we were both tired and decided it was time to sleep. Blake offered to let me stay the night since it was already very late and I was too tired to drive so I didnât bother putting up a fight.
However when we reached his bedroom and realized that he only had one bed (Allieâs bed was not an option here since it was too small) all the sleepiness in me died. I was going to share a bed with Blake freaking Greene. Of course I wanted to jump like kangaroo.
It was really awkward at first but then the power of sleep was too strong for us to be able to resist so we fell asleep less than ten minutes after we lied down.
âWell that did the trick.â He grinned.
âIâm cold.â I said, rubbing my arms where goose bumps started to appear.
And he had to lend me some of his clothes because we all know how uncomfortable sleeping in jeans is. Speaking of clothesâ¦
My eyes wander off to the desk where I had neatly folded my clothes and found my purple lace bra on top. Again, sleeping with a bra is very uncomfortable and last night, it was dark so I just put it on top without thinking and now itâs exposed for the world to see.
âDonât worry Bethany.â He smirked. âPurple looks good on you.â
My face heated up as I turned away to avoid him. This is so embarrassing!
âYouâre beautiful.â He said. âAnd very cute when you blush. You should blush more often.â
Seriously? He wants me to blush more often? Earth to Blake, I blush too much as is!
âNo way.â I shook my head. âI think I might have some kind of excessive blushing disease.
âIâm just kidding.â He commented. âYou blush a lot. See? Youâre blushing already.â
âWhat did you want from me?â I scowled. He woke me up to tell me that I blush a lot. That is not a good enough reason.
âOh, right.â He said. âWhere did you put the Tylenol? I need it.â
I sighed. âRight, right.â
Kicking my legs to the side of the bed, a yawn escaped me and not one of those feminine, demure yawns. It was the drunk beer belly man kind of yawn.
I really need to be more girly.
I walked over to the desk and pulled open one of the drawers, and got a bottle of Tylenol before tossing it over to Blake. He wasnât paying attention so he wasnât able to catch. Fortunately, it didnât hit him, but only by a couple of inches.
He took one pill and popped it in his mouth, followed by chugging water from the glass I didnât notice he brought in. I plopped down on back on the space beside him, ready to go back to sleep.

I was at the front area of the shop, collecting the plates and forks from the tables. One of my waitresses was sick today. Iâm sure they could handle baking and decorating by themselves for a day. Theyâve been doing it for over a year now.
The shop was empty since lunch just ended and people had to get to work. Marcus chose this time to barge through the front doors, and he was clearly not in a good mood. He had just got back from his lunch break.
âWhatâs wrong with you grumpy pants?â I asked curiously.
He drew his attention to me. âDorothy and I had a fight. Thatâs why.â
âAh, trouble in paradise.â Dani nodded from behind the counters. âSo, what happened?â
âI donât want to talk about it.â Marcus crossed his arms over his chest, pouting as he made his way to the woodshop. âMaybe later.â
âOkay then.â I said and dumped the plates on the tray.
Dani turned her attention to me now. âIt seems like your trouble evaporated in paradise. What did you do?â
âW-â
âOh, wait! Donât tell me, Iâll guess.â she chirped not letting a single word out of my mouth. âLetâs see. Right, itâs got to be the hot, furniture breaking, porn star make up sex?â
âYou have to get your mind cleared up and out of the gutter.â I stated and shook my head. âNo sex happened. We just talked.â
âHeard that he got sick.â
âYour girlfriend told me that.â
âRight.â She nodded. âYou two met. Back to the topic: what did you do?â
âWe just talked, watched a movie and ate popcorn.â
âYou fed a sick man popcorn?â she questioned me, eyebrows up.
âUh, yes?â
âReally? Popcorn?â
âStop judging me!â
âIâm not.â She shrugged. âJust that, who gives sick people popcorn?â
I sighed, dropped my head, and said, âSo Iâm not a doctor. Just drop it.â
****
âBoo.â
A short but sharp scream left my mouth as I jumped back with my hand over my chest to calm down my heart rate. In front of me stood a laughing Blake, clutching his stomach from so much laughter.
âItâs not funny.â I breathed out, glaring at the laughing man. âYou couldâve given me a heart attack.â
âYouâre right.â He nodded, composing himself together for a second before breaking character as he started laughing. âBut that face you made was so priceless! Itâs hilarious.â
âJerk.â I punched his arm. Before I could move away, his hand grasped my wrist and pulled me against him. At least he stopped laughing.
âI love you.â He said in a low voice.
My cheeks heated up as I looked at him, unable to say the same thing. I wasnât ready yet. Heck, weâre not yet even boyfriend-girlfriend and heâs already able to say this? No, I canât say it back.
âNo rush Bethany.â He commented and released my wrists. He brought his hand up to my head and flicked my forehead. âI can wait for as long as you want me to.â
âBlakeâ¦â
âNope.â He said and dragged me to the living room of his house. He was still sick. Not very sick like yesterday, but still sick. Heâs getting better though so that has to count for something. âSit.â
I did as he told me and he dropped on the space beside me.
âNow letâs talk about that date weâre having Sunday night.â He said excitedly, clasping his hands together. âWear something a little casual, but make sure youâre comfortable. And no heels. You donât want to be stuck on those contraptions the entire night.â
âHeels are not comfortable. I donât wear heels in the first place.â I pointed out.
âI know.â He said with a grin. âI just wanted to say the word âcontraptionâ.â
âAnd how sure are you that youâll be fine come Sunday?â
He shrugged. âI donât. But I think I will be. I feel fine already and by Sunday, Iâll feel great.â
I laughed and moved in closer to him, leaning my head against his chest as he wrapped an arm around me.
âWhere are you taking me?â
âItâs a surprise.â He said, playing with my hair.
âIâm not a patient person Blake.â I whispered, followed by a yawn.
I was sleeping over at his house again. Since he was better, Blake didnât need to let Allie stay over at Aliciaâs place so the little princess was upstairs in her room, sound asleep half an hour ago.
âWell then itâs time to change that.â He kissed my hair and pulled me closer to him.
I could hear the rhythm of his heartbeat underneath me. He leaned his head against mine. We cuddled up against each other like what most couples do, and he stared at the muted Barbie film that was playing on his television Allie left running before she went up her room. I closed my eyes, ready to fall asleep in his arms.
âThank you for being here Bethany.â He whispered.
Iâm not sure if he knew I was still awake, well barely awake.
âThank you for taking care of me.â He continued and stroked my hair. âThank you for staying with me. Thank you for being you.â
****
Two days later, around half past five in the afternoon while I was at work, Blake called me. He wasnât sick anymore and he went to work yesterday after three days being MIA.
âAre you busy tonight?â
âIf you count feeding the dogs and ordering take out as busy then yes.â I responded. âIf not, then my answerâs a no.â
âAh, so youâre not.â He said. âGreat. Iâll be over there in about twenty minutes to pick you up.â
Blake didnât allow me to say anything and hung up on me. I donât know what he has in store for me now. Our date was still scheduled on Sunday which is tomorrow.
Sighing, I went back to finish my work.
Fifteen minutes later everyone was tidying up the place because it was already closing time. I tossed Marcus the keys so that he was able to start locking the doors.
âIâll see you later Beth!â Dani called out as she started walking away.
I was about to ask her what she meant by seeing me later. I wasnât going anywhere except my house, but she was too far away and this happened.
âHey there.â From behind me, someone wrapped their arms around my waist and rested their head on my shoulder.
From the scent of the mystery person and hos awfully familiar voice, I immediately recognized that this someone was Blake. His breath was tickling me as he nibbled on my ear giving me the shivers.
âDonât do that!â I yelped and jumped away from his sudden contact with my ear, making him release me.
He looked at me amused then it was replaced with a smirk. âReally? Why?â
âYou know why.â I grumbled and crossed my arms.
âI actually donât.â he confessed innocently before launching at me. My arms and my body trapped as he wrapped his arms around me tightly from behind me, making sure I couldnât move. Then he placed his head in the crook of my neck and started pecking on my skin; I could feel his warm breath on my ear. I could feel him smirk against my skin.
As an involuntary reflex, I started squirming against him, bringing my shoulders up to shield me. I started laughing, kicking around in a lame attempt to have Blake release me.
âI-Iâm ticklish there!â I managed the words out. I started running out of air due to my excessive laughter. âStop! Stop! Itâs ticklish! Stop! Blake!â
âI donât think so.â He sang and continued pecking on my skin on my nape.
âBlake!â I squealed. My ribs started to hurt now, and so did my back. âStop! Iâm tired! It hurts! Blake!â
âThatâs what she said.â Blake smirked.
âJesus Christ, both of you should get a room.â Another voice joined us. âToo much PDA.â
Finally and fortunately, Blake stopped whatever he was doing but he didnât let me go. He placed his head on my neck but because he faced forward, I couldnât feel anything on my ear. He turned us around. It was more like he turned around and since I was helpless, I was dragged around.
It was Marcus who had a mischievous smirk on his face. He tossed the keys to me. In a split of a second I started panicking. My arms were still useless at this moment because I was still trapped. I worried that the set of keys was going to hit me in the face (It happened before so donât blame me for being worried). I wanted to smack Marcus in the face right now.
Blake remove one of his arms from around me and caught the set of keys before wrapping them back around me.
âNow run along Marcus.â Blake said. âYou donât want to see live porn now, do we?â
âOh I wouldnât mind but from you two, no thank you.â He said. âIâll go ahead.â
âBye.â Blake responded right away, leaving me no time to reply.
âDonât forget to use protection!â Marcus called as he jogged away from us.
Now we were alone on the streets.
âYou know, restraints donât really turn me on.â I said. âIâm not kinky.â
âOh so you want to be turned on then?â He asked sounding really amused. âDonât worry Iâm not into BDSM too. But I do have tricks to turn you on.â
âBlake!â
My face heated up from the embarrassment. That sounded a lot better in my head, and a lot better when I thought Blake didnât have a witty reply. This sucks.
âDo you want to get turned on Bethany?â he whispered in my ear, his voice dropping a few octaves making me shiver. âI can do this.â
Blake dropped one of his arms down and his hand stopped on my thigh and started caressing my leg. He stopped and pulled his hand back up to wrap me. The he whispered back in my ear. âAnd this.â
He shifted behind and the next thing I know is that heâs trailing kisses on my neck. Instead of my reflex to jump away, the sudden contact and the exquisite feeling made me weak in the knees. Then he stopped again.
âOr this-â
âNo.â I breathed out. Oh god, I canât bear this. âI donât want to.â
I could feel him grin against my skin.
âYouâre blushing so hard Bethany.â He teased sounding pleased. âSo cute.â
âYouâre such a jerk.â I muttered.
âIâm sorry.â He said and placed his head back on my shoulder. âI didnât come here to tease you.â
âWhat did you come here for anyway?â I asked inquisitively. âAnd whatâs with me being busy tonight?â
âWell, yesterday we had this really important meeting at work with a really important person.â He said and I leaned my head against his. âEverything turned out great and we got the account now.â
âThatâs amazing!â I chirped. âThatâs wonderful. Congratulations!â
âI know itâs great.â He muttered. âWeâre having a celebration back in the office and I was wondering if youâd like to join me.â
âI would love to but donât you think its kind off for me to be celebrating with your colleagues? I mean, itâs all of your hard work and it will be really rude of me to just appear there.â
âDaniâs going to be there, and so are the wives, husbands, girlfriends, and boyfriends of my coworkers.â He told me. âSo donât worry about that. And itâs nothing too fancy. The guys just ordered pizza and take outs.â
âIâm really happy for you. But arenât you going to release me?â
âNo.â he said sharply, tightening his grip on me and started walking.
We looked like a penguin.
âBut what if I have to go poop?â I asked.
âThen Iâll be hugging your side.â He said in a duh tone like it was the most obvious thing in the world. âBetter get used to do that.â
âThatâs disgusting Blake.â
He chuckled. âYeah I was just kidding. Iâm not into that.â
Fifteen minutes later we walked, hand in hand, out of the elevator of the building and to his office where a lot of people were celebrating carrying paper plates.
âMy man!â a guy greeted us giving Blake a slap on the back. Iâm unsure if it hurts but I did cringe a little. âThis is her?â
âYeah. Bethany meet Isaac, my best friend.â Blake introduced. âIsaac, this is Bethany, my girlfriend.â
Surprised, my eyes widened at his introduction of me. Girlfriend?
âAh, the infamous Bethany.â Isaac smiled charmingly, sticking a hand out for me. âItâs nice to finally meet you.â
âNice to meet you.â I replied and took his hand.
âHey guys!â Isaac suddenly called out, getting everyoneâs attention. âBlake finally brought his girlfriend!â
âIsaac shut up.â Blake scowled at his best friend.
âIâm sorry for that Bethany.â Isaac grinned. âItâs just that Blake keeps talking over and over again about you and itâs nice that he finally has the balls to bring you here and introduce you to us. And it seemed like he also got the balls to ask you to be his girlfriend, eh?â
âYeah.â I nodded. I failed to contain a smile. âCongratulations, by the way, on getting the account. This must be huge for you guys.â
âIt is. Thank you. You must be hungry. We just ordered a shit load of pizza.â Isaac motioned for us to follow him. âDude Blake, donât let your girlfriend starve to death.â
âShut up man.â Blake muttered, his cheeks turning pink, and elbowed his friend on the sides, rather painfully I might add since Isaac was doubling over where Blake had hit him.
It was nice to see Blake being himself, so calm and carefree and having fun. I know he was himself when he was with me, but there is still difference when heâs with me and when heâs with his friends. It was a good kind of difference.
I looked around the room to take a good look at where the handsome man whose arm was wrapped around my waist worked. It was quite spacious and very modern. The place was also very well design. There were works framed, some walls were creatively designed. The room wasnât in black and white. In fact, it was painted in various bright colors.
As I scanned the room, a grinning face stood out. It was Dani who basically had the words âYouâre finally together!â
Trust me, I was shocked too.
âYou want some pizza?â Blake asked offering me a slice.
âYes please.â I said and watched him take four slices of pizza and dump it on two large paper plates. âWhoa there big man. Slow down. The pizzaâs not going anywhere.â
âI know but we are.â He told me. âAnd the extra two are yours. I know how much you love stuffing your face.â
I shrugged. âFine with me.â
His eyes widened for a second before going back to its original state. He grabbed another slice before dragging me to an empty office which I instantly assume was his.
Before I could enter the room, a hand stopped me on my arm. It was Dani sporting an insanely huge smile on her face. He let out a squeal-ish scream and hugged me, cutting off my oxygen circulation completely. How on earth is she so strong?
âWhy didnât you tell me you two are together?â
âUh...â I trailed off, unsure of what to answer. âI wanted it to be a surprise.â
âWell it worked!â She chirped. âIt took the both of you long enough! I thought I was going to get gray hair years before you two would get it going.â
âW-well now you wonât have to wait for any gray hair.â I stammered, my answer utterly lame.
âReese is going to throw a party when she hears about this!â she said happily and took out her phone. I couldnât even let a single word out of my mouth when she tucked it back in her pocket telling me she already told my sister.
Alicia, also known as the gorgeous model I mistook as Blakeâs replacement for me, called Daniâs attention. She gave me a thumbâs up before going back to her girlfriend.
âPlease donât mind Isaac.â He said, closing the door behind him and handed me a plate once we were inside. âHeâs an annoying ass.â
I laughed. âHeâs fun.â
âOh really now?â he raised a brow. âSo you find him fun and I find him an ass, like how I find Dani and Marcus fun, and you find them a pain.â
âYeah I guess so.â I responded and took a bite from the pizza which had been calling my name ever since I laid eyes on it. âOh god, heavenâs in my mouth right now.â
âThatâs what she said.â He smirked. âYouâve been giving out innuendos the entire day Bethany. So, whatâs up with that?â
âSpeaking of whatâs up,â I sat up straight, remembering something. âGirlfriend, huh?â
Blake blushed and looked down on the tiled floor. âUh, yeah. I didnât know how to introduce you to them. Surely we arenât just friends Bethany.â
I sighed. âI know weâre not just that. Weâve crossed that border a long time ago.â
âYeah, about that.â He trailed off, scratching his nape, his face getting even more flustered. âI know this question is way overdue. I shouldâve asked this a month ago, not now.â
He stopped talking and silence enveloped us. It wasnât the awkward silence though. I lowered my pizza slice down on the paper plate on his desk.
On the corner of my eye, I saw a framed picture. It was of me on the beach, not facing the camera. I donât remember Blake taking this picture. I donât even remember Blake taking any pictures at all, or bringing his camera.
Another much smaller picture was beside it. It was the time we stopped for lunch on the way to the beach. Again, I was not paying attention to the camera. Next to the picture was another one with Blake and Allie making funny faces.
Blakeâs strong arms wrapped around my waist, drawing my attention to him. He settled his head on my shoulders again and I found myself easing into his arms.
âI love you Bethany.â he whispered, his voice dangerously low. âWill you be my girlfriend?â
I turned my head to face him, well to face the side of his face. I could smell his cologne, and it smells amazing.
It took me a while to answer him as I balanced out what was happening as of the moment.
He was asking me to be his girlfriend. I wanted to scream yes almost immediately but I kept my composure. I wondered why he would still ask me this after hurting him so much.
Then it hit me like a freight train.
Finding another man who loved me like Blake did was a one in a million chance. He didn't lash out on me like my pessimistic side would've expected. He didn't get mad. Instead, he told me he loved me. How many men like Blake could you encounter in a lifetime? The chances were slim. How many men like Blake would stay by your side after hurting them so much, after breaking their hearts? The chances were extremely slim to zero.
But in the end, the only thing that mattered was that if I liked him, if I loved him. And right now, everything has skyrocketed.
âYes.â I finally breathed out and I heard Blake let a huge breath out that I didn't know he was holding in.
And I knew what I wanted to tell him.
âI love you Blake.â
He stiffened a bit, as if in surprise before regaining his calm composure. âI love you too Bethany.â
