Rachelâs eyes darkened as she stopped drinking her water. She was never seasick that morning. She only feigned to be uncomfortable so that she would avoid responding to Victorâs query. Nevertheless, there was no way she would tell him the truth. âWhy do you believe so? I did feel a bit light-headed this morning. If you donât trust meâ¦â âI believe you.â Victor interrupted her before she could finish her statement. Rachel was stunned.
She hadnât anticipated that it would take such few words to get him over this. Nonetheless, he just believed her. He wouldnât bother to ask the question over and over again. Rachel couldnât help but think about how he held her last night as she considered his recent shift of attitude.
âRachel.â Victor called out to Rachel, and she looked up at him, puzzled. Victor spoke after a long look at her. âIâll give you one day if you donât think youâve thought through the remarriage situation. Give me your response before we disembark.â Rachel was taken aback when she heard this. He gave her an option. âDo I have a choice?â Rachel inquired.
âNo,â Victor answered. What was there to ponder about then? Rachel couldnât help but smirk inwardly.
Indeed, she was too stupid to think he would ever give her a choice. For a brief minute, she believed he would respect her this time. âDoes it matter what my response is if I donât have a choice?â
With a peaceful expression, she took a sip of her lemonade. Victorâs eyes became darker. âRachel, I promise you that I wonât make you do anything you donât want after our remarriage,â he stated after a brief pause.
Rachel subconsciously tightened her grasp on the glass. Victorâs gaze was locked on her, watching her reaction and expression. Despite this, she maintained a calm demeanor after a long time. He became irritated as a result of this. âDoes she genuinely feel nothing? Iâve already conceded.â
âRachelâ¦â
âFine.â Rachel cut him off. Victorâs eyes softened after being astonished for a while. The red wine was soon served and poured for them by the waiter. âYou may now depart,â instructed Victor.
The waiter responded respectfully, âYes, Mr. Sullivan.â The dining hall was then empty save for Rachel and Victor. Rachel blinked as she examined the red wine. She shouldnât drink wine when pregnant, but if she didnât⦠âI need to use the restroom.â She made an excuse. Victor agreed without pausing to think. Rachel turned around and proceeded into the restroom after picking up her phone.
She unlocked the phone screen as she walked, trying to think of a way she would use to avoid drinking the wine. However, she received a call from Quintin as soon as she unlocked her phone. She looked back at Victor subconsciously. She was relieved to see he was also on his phone. âWhatâs wrong?â
âYou canât drink that wine, boss!â Quintin expressed his apprehension. Rachel walked into the bathroom. She paused when she heard this and immediately realized that something was wrong. Her eyes became icy. âDoes the wine have something in it?â âYes. Aphrodisiac.â It only took a smidgeon of it to make people need s*x.
âDid Alice do it?â Rachel inquired, her pink lips pursed. âShe did slip into the kitchen and put it in the wine. You canât drink the wine, boss! You and the baby will be in danger if you drink it!â Squeak!
Rachel turned her gaze from the wash basin to the mirror above it. The cubicle door behind her suddenly opened from the inside, unveiling a familiar face. She also noticed the womanâs hand holding a knife âAlice!â Rachel scowled as she stared at the reflection in the mirror.
