"We wanted to tell you guys something. "
They looked at us expectantly.
"We are getting divorced. "
"YOU WHAT??????"

"She said we are getting a divorce". Arya stated.
"Yeah no shit Sherlock."
"What happened suddenly"
Asked Aarohi. The normal cheerful face of hers was replaced with one of worry.
"We were not meant to be together. That's it. " Veer Bhai replied coldly.
Rehan had never heard him talk like that after his marriage to Bhabhi.
"We all know that's bullshit. Can we atleast get the real reason? " I questioned furiously.
"No."
The couple replied in unison.
"We know there's something wrong with his head ," I said pointing towards Veer Bhaiya." But I didn't expect this from you Bhabhi. "
"Forget him. How can you do this to us. To me? "
He asked Dhwani.
"You will always remain family even if I divorce him. "
Bhabhi said with a calm smile.
Mahi got up from where she was sitting and hugged her.
"I understand. " She whispered.
Dhruv also nodded.
"I'm getting a feeling that they already know what happened. " Rehan stated shaking his head.
"Do you guys know something that we don't?" Aarohi inquired.
They refused to look at our eyes.
I gave them a glare that said I will get back to you.
"You can ruin your lives. I don't care. It's yours to ruin. But
We deserve to know the reason. I deserve to know it. " Rehan said calmly.
"No one deserves to know anything here. "Veer yelled and stormed off.
Aarohi went after him.
Dhwani went inside. Rehan followed her.
"Bhabhi. Please. Atleast tell me. I have always seen you like my sister. I gave you the place of a mother. Don't do this to me. "
"You want to know what happened? "
She said with a low coarse voice.
"Your brother questioned my chastity.
Your brother accused me of cheating."
She laughed at the mirth.
"Want to know the catch? He accused me of cheating with the one and only Susheel Shekar. "
Veer needed to go out. It was getting suffocating. His guilt knew no bounds seeing their faces in the garden.
"Bhaiya stop. " Aarohi said grabbing his hands.
"Where are you going?"
"Nowhere. "
"Really. I always wanted to go there. Can I come too?"
I rolled my eyes.
"Aarohi leave me alone. I need sometime. "
"I don't trust you. "
"Neither do I. "
"But Bhai. "
"Aaru please. "
"Fine. Atleast tell me where you are going. "
"I don't know"
Aarohi nodded her head in understanding.
She kissed my cheeks and went back.
Veer got into his car and started driving towards the beach near their house.

"Veer?"
"Hey. "
"Hi what are you doing here?" Sita asked.
"Just needed some fresh air. "
"What about you?"
"Krishna wanted to come to the park."
She said pointing towards her son who was playing with his grandmother.
"How old was he when Rajiv? "
"2. Now he is five. "
Why didn't you remarry.
"Because I never found a guy who was half the man Rajiv was. "
She gave me a painful smile.
"Weren't you guys supposed to return to USA this week?"
"We cancelled it. My parents didn't want us to leave and to tell you the truth I didn't want to either. "
"You are not the girl I used to know. "
"And you are not that same old boy of class 12. "
"Touche"
"So what happened Veer?"
"Nothing. "
"Don't lie. I have known you since our school days. "
"It's just. I was thinking about how unlucky I am. "
"And why is that? "
"God blessed me with Dhwani as my wife and I ruined it. We just announced our divorce to my siblings."
"I'm really sorry veer. How are you holding up? "
"Pretty good. "
"Dhwani is a woman of ethics. The first thing she asked me after our marriage was trust and respect. "
"You broke them both didn't you?"
I nodded.
"Are you okay talking about it? "
"I don't know. "
"I don't know anything actually. "
"I started doubting her and everything went downhill from their. I trusted the words of a man and not of my wife. I deserve this. So yeah. I'm good. "
"You are anything but good. Your eyes speak volumes. You know Veer ,
If you are kind to yourself only when you think you deserve it then it's like watering a plant only when it flowers. But then would the plant be able to live. It cannot bloom everyday but when it does it is the most beautiful thing that plant achieves. For it to achieve that it needs nurturing. Humans are like that. If you take care of yourself only when life is easy then who is supposed to overcome the hard ones. Remember Veer all we ever really have in this world is ourself. We are the ones who know us the most. But that does not mean that we get the right to ruin us. "
"Maa" Krishna was calling her to play with him. Sita stood up and turned to him one last time before she went.
"Think about it. I know there are more to this. But it's alright. Whenever you feel like talking. Visit me at my clinic or my home or someplace else where you feel comfortable. "
"Right. I completely forgot you were a therapist. "
"Don't worry. This wasn't a therapist talking. It was your friend. But if you ever need that part too just call me. "
It was two days after Rehan's outburst. Amrita Chachi came to visit me.
I was only 8 when ma passed away. Amrita Chachi moved in with us when he was 13. She was his mother from then on. Even if we consider my brothers , Dhruv was still the most close to Chachi.
"How are you Dhruv?" She asked lovingly.
She used to call me pumpkin. But he couldn't blame her. If there was anyone to blame for the change in behaviour of his family , especially towards him , it was Dhruv.
"Better." He replied in a monotone
"How is your legs?"
"They are healing. I can move them but it comes with excruciating pain. " He didn't really care about the pain. Physical pain never really bothered him. He always had a high pain tolerence.
"Good. Everyone at home misses you. Aarohi extended her leaves just so she could see her brother back at home in one piece. "
I forced a smile. Not because he wasn't happy. Because he forgot how to. He has not genuinely smiled or laughed in years.
Hiding emotions became a coping mechanism for Dhruv without which he felt his mind or self was naked.
"Where is Mahika?" She enquired looking around the room.
I shrugged to say I don't know.
"Did she ever tell you what your mom's last words to Mahika were? "
"No. Even when we were young Mahika was really secretive about it. "
Dhruv smiled inside thinking about the memory.
"Your mother asked Mahika to marry you."
"What!!!"he said incredulously.
This was breaking news for him.
Chachi gave him a knowing smile.
" She wanted mahi to be the daughter in law of her house. She especially asked mahi to look after you and love you no matter what. Even if you didn't marry. "
He scoffed.
"Mahika didn't want to marry you after Avantika's death. It was your father and Me who made her recall the promise. It was not that she didn't love you , it was because she knew how broken and in love you were. She didn't want to take over Avantika's place in your life. "
He was surprised at this. She understood him? Why didn't she tell him then?
"I can't love her Chachi. Trust me." He said aloud then though to himself
And even if I could , I don't deserve something that pure.
"I know. She knows that too. Yet she married you and loves you still without hoping for anything back. And that's all a mother could ever ask for. "
Dhruv didn't know any of these. Ignore everything around him was his policy. He really was surprised by Chachi's revealation.
Now he was feeling guilty of all the things he said. In his rage he yelled at her. He needed to make ammends.
They didn't need to be husband and wife but they could be the old Dhruv and Mahi who were best friends.
Right?

"Isn't that your wife?" My nurse asked pointing to Mahika who was going out with her eyes.
"Yes. "
"Well then. You are one lucky guy. "
"Not only is she a sight to sore eyes but she cares about you too. And that's rare boy. She didn't sleep or eat till you gained consiousness. And she has been with taking care of you since then. Cherish her boy. Trust me. "
She gave him a huge smile then whispered somthing to Mahika who was coming back which made her blush profusely.
He wanted to ignore what she said but something warm had filled his heart by her words and Dhruv was not sure if he liked it.

He was getting discharged today.
Mahi was helping him pack.
Suddenly her phone started ringing. Her ringtone was "sun raha hai na" from " aashique 2". It was a nice song but he soon realised, most probably he was the inspiration for her ringtone. Well she wasn't entirely a saint herself was she? She could've told him the truth.
She took the phone and started talking excitedly. She called him pyaar and baba and went on to talk animatedly.
Who was this guy?
Dhruv was not jealous. It was just curiusity. And he knew he had no right over her or her life.
Afterall this is an open relationship as he himself stated.
But still curiosity was building up inside him as to who she was talking to with so much adoration.
But one thing was clear for him now. This was much better than before.
His few words had replaced crying Mahi with a happier smiling one.
