âThen how did you know he worked Late?â Nicole demanded.
âIâve been tracking you for days.
I know about his Late nights, and Iâm aware of your Valentineâs Day date.
Iâve even taken numerous photos and videos, which Iâve shown to Jarrod,â Alec revealed everything, silently anticipating how Jarrod would handle her.
Nicole was focused solely on locating Roscoe.
How could he just vanish like that?
Alec claimed he hadnât captured Roscoe, but Nicole suspected Alec knew more.
Otherwise, Alec wouldnât have tricked her like this, and his expressions and tone suggested he knew something.
Losing patience, Nicole demanded, âSo where did Roscoe go after you followed him last night?â
âHe was taken away in a black MPV,â Alec answered.
âWho?â Nicole narrowed her eyes and pressed, âWho took him away?â
Alecâs mood soured.
âDo I look like your detective? Why should it matter to me who took him? I have no reason to follow him.
â
Alec scoffed.
âI wish he was dead.
â
In Alecâs mind, Roscoeâs constant battles with Jarrod were unforgivable.
He wouldnât even blink if Roscoe died.
âWho are you trying to intimidate with this tiny fork?â Alec brushed Nicoleâs hand aside disdainfully.
âI donât believe you have the guts to stab me.
â
As Nicole released her grip, the small fork clattered to the floor.
Nicole couldnât imagine anyone but Jarrod having a reason to abduct Roscoe.
âMove, youâre in my way,â Alec muttered, wiping his neck.
âDonât worry.
I wonât lay a finger on you unless Mr.
Schultz says so.
â
Nicole unlocked the restroom, and the two women dashed out, screaming.
Leaning heavily against the wall, Nicole felt a wave of nausea.
With a harsh cough, she expelled the alcohol sheâd just downed.
She sank down, feeling utterly spent.
Just then, Alecâs phone buzzed to life.
He took the call, answering with a few curt âyesâ nods, and then ended the call.
Approaching Nicole, whose face was washed out with fatigue, Alec said icily, âMiss Lawrence, Mr.
Schultz wants a word with you.
â
Nicoleâs gaze was unfocused, indifferent to his statement.
Alec went on, âHeâs aware youâre worried about Roscoe and has offered to take you to him.
â
Nicole jerked upright suddenly, a stabbing pain surging through her stomach as though a knife had twisted inside her, her body convulsing with the intensity of the pain.
Alec laughed lightly.
âNo need to hurry.
Youâll be reunited with him soon enough.
â
Nicole followed Alec to a stately private club, its facade exuding grandeur.
Inside, Jarrod was the picture of composure, leisurely drinking tea.
