Chapter 154 The Wright Family Intervenes âGrandpa, thereâs trouble again!â
Before long, Stephen hurriedly entered Nathanâs courtyard.
As usual, the old man was sitting there.
He was accustomed to resting only after midnight.
Seeing his grandson in such a hurry, Nathan chided, âYouâre almost thirty, canât you be a bit more composed? Besides, unless the sky is falling, itâs not a big deal.â
Stephen gave a bitter smile. âGrandpa, the sky hasnât fallen, but Finnegan has surely caused a major disturbance tonight.â
âThat troublemaker again? What happened?â
Stephen composed himself and replied, âEarlier tonight, Vilmar and the others planned to use Tyroneâs men to teach Finnegan a lesson. They even kidnapped the neighbor he grew up with. This enraged Finnegan, who responded with brutal force. One person is dead, while forty-one are severely injured, including Vilmar and his two followers, who are also children from wealthy families in Bellridge.
Furthermore, nineteen of these wealthy children were forced to ingest a large amount of alcohol, leading to severe gastric bleeding. They have been rushed to several different hospitals for emergency treatment.â
Nathan furrowed his brow. âExplain in detail, and donât leave anything out.â
Nodding, Stephen shared everything he knew, including the incident where Finnegan had those rich kids beat up Vilmar and his two friends.
And inexplicably, they let Vilmar and his group go.
After hearing this, Nathan simply responded with a noncommittal hum, his eyebrows relaxing.
Stephen asked in surprise, âGrandpa, donât you think this matter is very serious?â
âWhy would you think that?â Nathan stroked his beard. âThese people who rely on their fathers and grandfathers to throw their weight around deserve to be taken down by Finnegan. Since Finnegan spared their lives, they should consider themselves lucky!â
With a wave of his hand, he ordered dominantly, âGo and inform the families of these people. Tell them I am very displeased. Then, have them bring their respective children back and enforce strict discipline.
If I ever hear of such things again, Iâll personally teach those spoiled brats a lesson!â
Stephen widened his eyes. âGrandpa, are you going to clean up Finneganâs mess?â
Nathan shook his head. âIndeed, I am cleaning up after Finnegan, but itâs also for the sake of stability.
Jadeborough has been in chaos due to the Wahlstrom family and Seth recently. If we let those nouveau riche from Bellridge come over, it wonât be good for the situation! So when you make the arrangements, try to keep it low-key as much as possible. We donât want too many people paying attention to Finneganâ
He paused before adding, âAt least not before he heads to Durbaine!â
Stephen asked curiously, âGrandpa, what other secrets does Finnegan have besides being the Mischievous Doctor?
He couldnât help but wonder what secret identity Finnegan must have for Nathan to order him to keep his lips sealed. No matter who asked, he had to keep quiet, even if it were Romona.
Nathan waved his hand and said, âWhen itâs time for you to know, I will tell you. Donât ask before that.
All you need to remember is that he is one of the most important people in Durbaine. Besides that, keep an eye on those Royle family kids, I have a feeling that Finnegan hasnât really let them off the hook!â
His heart shuddering slightly, Stephen nodded. âUnderstood!â
Meanwhile, as the outside world was in so much turmoil due to tonightâs events that even the Wright family had to intervene, inside a suite of a five-star hot spring resort.
The suite had two bedrooms featuring an automatic hot spring and a 180-degree night view.
Josephine, her emotions considerably calmed, was on the phone while Finnegan was lying on the couch by the window, gazing at the bustling, brilliant night view.
After hanging up the phone, Josephine walked over, her cheeks slightly flushed. âFinnegan, my mom knows weâre at a hotel.â she said.
Finnegan was deep in thought.
Upon hearing this, a twitch appeared at the corner of his mouth. âJosephine, thatâs not fair! How could you make it sound like I deliberately brought you here? Youâre the one who wanted to come to a hotel!â
He originally planned to take Josephine home, but Josephine expressed her fear that she might inadvertently say something and cause her mother to worry.
Finnegan thought about it and decided to book a hotel for her to stay overnight to help her calm her emotions.
Yet now, what she said was practically a misunderstanding waiting to happen.
âCome on, my mom wonât misunderstand.â
Josephine kicked him with her bare foot, then gestured for him to scoot over so she could lie down beside him. âWhy donât you tell me what happened tonight? Who were those people?â
She paused for a moment before adding, âAnd who was that woman?â
The mere thought of Alisha, who was enchantingly seductive, left Josephine with an inexplicable sour taste in her mouth.
Finnegan knew he couldnât fool Josephine, so he roughly explained the situation.
Upon hearing this, Josephineâs mouth dropped open in surprise. âThatâs the eldest son of the Royle family from Nuthana? The people who captured me were Tyroneâs men? And that woman is the young miss of the Wahlstrom family from Bellridge?â
Josephine, could you mind your image a bit? Your mouth is open so wide it could catch a fly!â
Josephine scoffed. âIâm not joking with you. What on earth is going on? What are you doing right now?â
Finnegan stretched lazily and said, âAs I just mentioned, offending Vilmar was technically a set-up by Mandy. As for knowing Alisha, itâs because I saved her grandfatherâs life, much like how I cured Mr.
Miles. and Old Mr. Haimowitz!â
Although Finneganâs words seemed to hold up under scrutiny, Josephine had a feeling he wasnât telling the whole truth.
Nonetheless, it was obvious Finnegan didnât want to speak more about the matter. âItâs getting late, so Iâm off to bed. Letâs pretend tonightâs incident never happened so Mdm. Dickson and my parents wonât worry, Donât worry about retaliation, either. They probably wonât have the courage to do it again.â
By the time Josephine snapped back to her senses, Finnegan had already entered the room and closed the door.
However, he didnât actually fall asleep. Instead, he switched off the light and lay in bed, releasing a soft sigh. âThe old man was right. Peace has become a luxury since I left the mountains!â
He pondered over everything that had transpired since his departure from the mountains and what the future held for him.
Firstly, he had successfully eliminated the Chomsky family and achieved his revenge.
Next, he had to worry about Liam, Solomon, Vilmar, and the others.
There was also Tyrone, lurking in the shadows with malicious intentions.
Rubbing his temples, Finnegan couldnât help but utter, âIt seems I should avoid trouble as much as possible in the future.â
It wasnât that he was afraid of trouble, but he was apprehensive that those around him might suffer because of him, just like tonight.
If Vilmar and his group had intended to kill, Josephine would have been long gone by now.
As he thought about this, Mandyâs image appeared in Finneganâs mind. âNo, I must teach that woman a lesson so she wonât dare to attempt something like this again in the future.â
Just then, a faint sound emanated from the door.
As the door creaked open, a figure slipped inside. âFinnegan, I get scared when I think about what happened earlier after I turn off the lights. Can I sleep with you tonight?â
Finneganâs lips twitched. âJosephine, this isnât appropriate!â
âI donât care!â Josephine seemed to revert back to her bossy older sister persona from their childhood.
She approached and lay down beside Finnegan without hesitation, resting one arm and one leg on him. âWe used to sleep together even when you were in high school. Thereâs nothing inappropriate about it!â
In the darkness, Finneganâs eyes widened in surprise. He realized that Josephine was only wearingâ¦
Unable to resist, he said, âJoséphine, itâs not that you canât sleep here with me, but can we at least establish clear boundaries The Josephine of today was no longer the immature girl she once was, but had blossomed into a mature and stunning beauty.
He feared he wouldnât be able to resist!
To his astonishment, Josephine suddenly blurted out, âFinnegan, do you have feelings for me?â
