Chapter 199 Do You Think I Am Kind Upon their first meeting, Myla took an immediate dislike to Finnegan.
In the midst of his thoughts, Finnegan immediately understood what was going on.
Keaton had already played the victim first.
However, Finnegan didnât get angry. Instead, he smiled and asked, âMs. Caulder, Iâm curious, what unsightly thing have I done?â
âThe things youâve done make me sick. I canât even bring myself to talk about it. Have the decency to leave once youâre done eating!â Myla responded indifferently, taking Keatonâs arm. âLetâs go. Staying with these kinds of people only makes me uncomfortable. Letâs move ahead. Iâll introduce you to a few people.â
Without giving Finnegan a chance to explain, she took Keatonâs arm and left.
The latter turned around, making faces at Finnegan, full of provocation.
Finnegan narrowed his eyes, unwilling to swallow that insult.
As Keaton turned around, Finnegan opened his right hand, revealing two silver needles hidden in his palm.
With a bend of the finger, two silver needles, silent and deadly, were launched, embedding themselves into Keatonâs head.
Keaton, secretly admiring his brilliance, grunted and unexpectedly collapsed on the ground.
Myla asked anxiously, âKeaton, whatâs wrong with you?â
âIâm feeling a bit dizzy all of a sudden, probably because I didnât sleep well last night.â Keaton was somewhat puzzled, rising to his feet with the help of Myla.
With a smile, Finnegan asked, âKeaton, what did you tell Ms. Caulder?â
âItâs none of your-â Keaton turned around impatiently.
The words were on the tip of my tongue, but he found myself speaking uncontrollably, âI told Myla that you conspired with a woman last night to set me up, trying to blackmail me into swindling money. Lalso told her that, because I refused to submit, you beat me up. It was utterly despicable. I then told her to speak with Old Mr. Caulder afterward to not be deceived by you.â
After speaking, Keaton quickly covered his mouth, his face full of surprise. Whatâs wrong with me? Why did I answer so honestly?
Myla snorted. âFinnegan, why do you insist on making Keaton speak about it? Do you find it amusing to embarrass yourself?â
Finnegan nodded in sudden realization. âI see now what playing the victim is, but it seems more like heâs twisting the facts.
Even though it was Keaton who took advantage of Lindsey, it ended up looking like he was the victim of a |||
badger game.
Keatonâs eyes twitched as he said, âI think youâre the one twisting the truth here, brat. Unfortunately for you, Myla wonât believe you, and neither will Old Mr. Caulder. They trust Myla more than theyâd ever trust you!â
âIs this what you mean by âcloser to an outsider than to oneâs family?â Finnegan smirked.
Keaton snorted. âI didnât- Yes, thatâs exactly what I just mentioned earlier. Even if I lic, Myla will only believe me, not you.â
After he said that, his face changed dramatically, Quickly, he explained to the bewildered Myla. âMyla, only said that we are close, but I have never lied to you.â
He was utterly puzzled, wondering why he was spilling the truth.
At that moment, William walked over and asked, âThe banquet is about to start. What are you guys still doing here?â
Finnegan teased, âYeah, Keaton, what are you doing here?â
Keaton found himself speaking uncontrollably again, âIâm afraid youâll reveal the truth about last night, so I want to play the victim and distort the facts first. This way, if Myla believes me, it wonât matter what you say.â
It had happened multiple times already.
After finishing his sentence, Keaton slapped his own mouth. âWhatâs going on? Why is my mouth running off?â
Myla frowned. âKeaton, what did you just say?â
William approached. âKeaton, how did you come to know Mr. Larkin?â
He felt there was something unusual about it.
Keaton shook his head, âItâs nothing, I-â
Before he could finish speaking, Finnegan gently coughed. âYes, how did we meet?â
Finneganâs voice was as enchanting as magic.
Keaton gritted his teeth, trying to resist the temptation to speak, but he couldnât control himself. âLast night, I went to a bar for a drink. I saw a woman who was drunk in the restroom, and I took her back to my car with the intention of taking advantage of her.â
As he spoke, tears welled in his eyes.
Unfortunately, he still couldnât control his mouth. âYou suddenly appeared at the crucial moment and pulled me away and even gave me a beating. Thatâs why I hold a grudge against you.â
After finishing his sentence in one breath, Keatonâs face turned completely pale. âMr. William, Myla, this is |||
JJ not what I meant to say. Iâve never done such a thing.â
Suddenly, he turned to Finnegan and roared, âWhat have you done to me, brat?â
Every time Finnegan asked him a question, he couldnât help but tell the truth.
Finnegan saw Desmond supporting Soren as they walked over from a distance, With a light sigh, Finnegan stood up. âThey say the nerve centers for truth and lies reside in the brain. I didnât do much, really. All I did was slightly stimulate the part of your brain that tells the truth, making it impossible for you to lie.â
âNo, what I just said wasnât the truth. Youâve played tricks on me,â spat Keaton.
With a faint smile, Finnegan stepped forward. âIn that case, tell me what are your thoughts on Ms.
Caulder and the Caulder family.â
Keatonâs face changed dramatically once again.
He wanted to control himself, but he simply couldnât.
As soon as he opened his mouth, he said, âI want to win over Myla, not just because she is Mr.
Jeremiahâs only daughter, but also because she is Old Mr. Caulderâs eldest granddaughter. If I can win her over, I will be able to take over Mr. Jeremiahâs education group in the future and use the Caulder familyâs connections. to help my father rise in status.â
At that point, Keaton burst into tears.
He knelt before Finnegan. âStop messing with me. Please donât mess with me anymore, I beg youâ If this continues, the Caulder family will sever ties with my family!
Unfortunately, Myla, William, and Soren all heard what he said. Their faces all darkened.
They could tell that everything Keaton said was the truth.
Finnegan chuckled, âInitially, out of respect for Old Mr. Caulderâs birthday, I had no intention of sett the score with you to avoid spoiling the mood. However, you were intent on picking one with me regardless. Do you really think Iâm that kind-hearted?â
Keaton pleaded while crying. âI was wrong. Please spare me.â
At that point, Finnegan no longer had the intention to argue with Keaton.
Stretching lazily, he walked past Myla, who was visibly embarrassed and uncomfortable. âYouâre born into a family of scholars, well-educated, and elegant in demeanor. Yet, itâs all just for show. What a pity!â
Mylaâs expression subtly changed.
She raised her hand and slapped Keaton. âYouâre shameless!â
If it werenât for Keatonâs words, she would have been merely indifferent to Finnegan and Finnegan wouldnât have accused her of being all show and no substance.
After learning everything from William, Soren looked at Keaton with disgust. âGet out, The Caulder |||
family doesnât welcome you anymore. William, call Owen again. I want him to know what his good son did!â
âOld Mr. Caulder, Mr. William, please, I was wrong, I was wrong!â No matter how much Keaton pleaded, it was to no avail.
William had Keaton thrown out of the Caulder residence.
Soren, however, still felt somewhat ticked off.
He glared at Myla directly. âFinn is right. Youâre all show and no substance. I canât believe I even considered introducing you to Finn before. From what I see now, youâre not worthy of him!â
After scolding his granddaughter, Soren, full of energy, had Desmond help him leave.
William sighed lightly. âMyla, youâve really changed a lot since you entered the business world. Iâm very disappointed!â
Mylaâs cheeks flushed. âUncle William, could it be that Keaton is lying, framed by that Finnegan?â
William did not respond. He left with a sigh.
Myla was so angry that her chest hurt. That Finneganâs relying on otherâs influence to bully people!
