Chapter 298 A Sense Of Crisis
After having lunch at Mandyâs, Finnegan leisurely strolled back to Dragon Bay No. 1 Villa. I wonder how my wife is feeling.
Upon learning from the housekeeper that Bernice was at the beach, he went straight to the beach.
There, he saw Bernice lounging on a beach chair with sunglasses on, enjoying the sea breeze.
Bernice took off her sunglasses and stretched out her hands.
âYou seem so peaceful and relaxed. A good sleep really did wonders for you.â Finnegan walked over and laid down next to her, unabashedly wrapping, his arms around her.
Bernice rolled her eyes. âTrying to take advantage again?â
Chuckling, Finnegan said. âYouâre my fiancée. This can only be considered an intimate act to strengthen our bond as a couple, not taking advantage.â
âYouâre such a smooth talker.â Bernice hummed but honestly rested her head on Finneganâs shoulder.
âBut what do you think about me moving in with you? I called my mom this morning and told her Iâve been staying at your place these past few days. She even said itâs okay if I donât go back.â
She paused for a moment, her hand pinching Finneganâs waist. âShe even said it would be best if we had a child together. So, have you been talking behind my back with my mom?â
Finnegan winced in pain. âAre you trying to murder your own husband?â
âScrew you. What are you talking about?â Bernice quickly glanced around, and seeing no one, her cheeks flushed red as she pinched Finnegan once again.
With a grin, Finnegan knew that Berniceâs mood had improved.
He then held her a little tighter and said, âI didnât actually say anything to your mom. She must be longing to hold her grandchild. So, you should move in with us. We canât let our parents down!â
Bernice huffed. âDream on! Donât even think about it before weâre married.â
âDarling, but thatâs not what you said at the beginning.â
âWhat did I say then?â
With a feigned pitiful expression, Finnegan said, âYou initially mentioned that we should at least get engaged, didnât you? Now that we are engaged, why has it suddenly turned into marriage?â
Bernice indeed remembered saying those words herself.
But the girlâs modesty made her play dumb directly. âWhen did I ever say that? You better not try to fool me. Iâm quite smart and have an especially good memory?â
Finnegan grimaced. âJust as I thought!â
âWhat do you mean?â
Chapter 298 A Sense Of Crisis With a long sigh, Finnegan said, âMy mom always told me not to trust beautiful women, and it seems sheâs right!â
Blinking her eyes, Bernice playfully slapped Finnegan and laughed. âThat isnât something your mom said. Thatâs made up.
But do you really want me to move in?
Bringing up that matter that day was not Berniceâs idea, It was what Jennifer told her over the phone.
Jennifer said Finneganâs family had the power to change Bruceâs attitude. Soon, Finnegan would officially take over the Zimmerman family and Firebird Group. All of that was due to the presence of Finnegan.
And by Finneganâs side, there were women from various families, such as Alisha and Mandy.
So, during the phone call, Jennifer reminded Bernice to pay close attention to the women around Finnegan to prevent him from being snatched away. She even suggested that Bernice should move to Dragon Bay No. 1 Villa to put an end to some peopleâs thoughts.
At first, Bernice was resistant, feeling that moving into a manâs house before marriage was somewhat undignified.
After pondering all morning, coupled with the actions of Millicent and her group the night before, Bernice realized that if she wasnât careful, Finnegan could really be taken away from her.
It was not that she lacked confidence in herself, nor did she doubt Finnegan. It was just that she found it impossible to guard against the relentless tactics of those people.
She was worried that the worst could happen.
Finnegan asked, âDarling, of course, I want you to move in. Whatâs wrong?â
Bernice traced circles on his chest with one hand. âMy mom says youâre too outstanding now, and an outstanding man will never lack women who are drawn to him like moths to a flame. She hopes I can keep you, preferably by having a child with you!â
When Bernice got to this point, her voice became somewhat shy. âAnd then to think that Grandma and the others actually let Queenie sleep with you, I suddenly feel that my mom was right. I should be a bit more alert!â
After hearing this, Finnegan laughed and said, âDarling, you are one of the Four Beauties of Jadeborough. When did you become so lacking in confidence?â
âCut the chatter. Just tell me if you want me to move in or not.â She was both embarrassed and angry at herself for suggesting to move in, all because she was afraid that Finnegan would be taken away from her. Bernice pinched his waist in frustration.
Finnegan pinched her cheek. âLetâs go!â
Bernice asked in surprise, âGo where?â
Finnegan stood up and swept her into his arms. âIâll accompany you home to pack your things. Iâm afraid you might change your mind later, and then Iâll have to spend my nights alone again.â
III Chapter 298 A Sense Of Crisis A smile spread across Berniceâs face when she heard that. Finneganâs actions reassured her more effectively than a thousand words ever could.
+5 Free Co But thinking about moving in with Finnegan, Bernice still felt a bit nervous. âBut remember, you can only hug me. Donât even think about having sex with me.â
After she finished speaking, Bernice buried her entire face in Finneganâs chest, her heartbeat rapidly accelerating.
Finnegan snapped back to reality and exclaimed, âDarling, when did you learn to talk with lewd words?â
âMeanie, stop talking. Itâs all your bad influence on me.â
âHaha! Then Iâll strive to lead you further astray in the future, unlocking more positions for our future.â
âGet lost!â
An hour later, Finnegan followed Bernice to the Zimmerman residence in Xendale.
Patrick and Jennifer were enjoying afternoon tea in the garden.
Seeing them return together, with Berniceâs cheeks still flushed, Jennifer stood up with a smile. âBack to get your luggage? Iâve packed everything for you. Bernie, why donât you check if anythingâs missing?â
Huh? Bernice widened her eyes. Did Mom pack my luggage for me? How eager are they to get rid of me? Is she still my biological mother?
Before Bernice could react, Jennifer urged her, âGo check it out quickly. Have the housekeepers load it into the car for you. Finnegan, come over here and chat with me and Patrick for a bit.â
âMom, what are you doing?â
In the end, Jennifer pulled Finnegan over to sit down, not even looking back as she said, âHurry up and get to work. Donât keep Finnegan waiting too long.â
This situation made Berniceâs face turn red. She bit her lip and glared at Finnegan, who was holding back his laughter, before walking away.
Seeing her go in, Finnegan gave a bitter smile. âMr. Patrick, Ms. Jennifer, arenât you afraid this will upset Bernie?â
Patrick replied with a serious expression, âSheâs a grown woman!â
âFinnegan.â Jennifer held Finneganâs hand, earnestly advising, âAs your future in-laws, we can only help you up to this point. We hope you wonât let us down. Strive to give us a grandchild by next year.
Understand?â
Patrick reminded, âEspecially, be good to Bernie. Sheâs my only daughter, the apple of my eye.â
Patrickâs voice choked a bit as he spoke.
Clearly, he was somewhat reluctant to hand his daughter to Finnegan.
Finnegan put away his smile and responded seriously, Mr. Patrick, Ms. Jennifer, donât worry. I will |||
Chapter 298 A Sense Of Crisis definitely treat Bernie well!â
Jennifer nodded. âI trust you, so Iâll go check on Bernie first. You chat with Patrick.â
Once Jennifer had left, Patrick asked, âFinnegan, what exactly happened when you guys went to the Zimmerman residence for dinner last night? How did my dad suddenly change his attitude and ask me to prepare to take over his position?â
