The herbal drink she had given him knocked him out cold. She said it would help with the pain so he didn't argue. He had woken up hungry and tired, possibly because of the mixture, he tried getting up but the pain in his chest prevented him from doing so.

He had broken two ribs and had dislocated his knee from the fall then. His knees was healed now and so what his ribs but the pain from them still tortured him especially in the mornings. He had been here for three months with this family. The first two months were full of herbal treatments, pains all over his body, and being absolutely bed-ridden.

Afterwards, he regained strength in his leg and body and began to move around and now, he is just convalescing. He had lost everything, his castle, his throne and his woman. He had lost it to that man, that senseless sack. But he would get everything back, most importantly, he would get his woman back.

He knew she loved him, she must have proven it somehow before the last petal fell, that's why he's human now. Just thinking of that alone, makes him eager to get out of here and find her fast so he can love her too like she deserved. And while at it, he will make sure that Gaston regrets the day he set his eyes on Belle or his castle.

As he struggled to stand up, a man walked in and helped him up.

"You don't have to stress yourself some much, your Highness", the man said.

"Give me a little credit Jonathan, am not as weak as I might seem."

"I know that sir. I know the pain is still there, but if you keep on taking the herbal mix my wife gave you last night, it should be gone in a week."

"Thank you, Jonathan. You have really helped me, you and your family are good people."

"Your Highness, it would have been inhuman to leave you the way we saw you, besides, I have to help the wounded, if not, how can I call myself a doctor?"

"But still, many wouldn't have done what you did. I shall be sure to reward you once I go back."

"Sire, you know there's really no need for that."

"I insist. I see you're going out to the farm, let me come and help you."

"Sire, you really don't have to do that."

"I believe I should exercise myself for faster recovery or is it that you don't look forward to me recovering?"

"Its none of such, sir."

"I am coming with you.", he states matter-of-factly.

"No problem, but we must have breakfast first, my wife really went out of her way for this one."

They both exit the room.

At the farm...

"The radishes grow great this time of year.", Jonathan states.

" You should see what my wife can make out of them", he continues.

Adam smiles, raises his hoe and brings it down to create his ninth hole in the ground. But before the hoe reaches the ground, he feels the sharp pain come up to his chest again and he flinches and staggers for a moment. Jonathan notices and starts towards him but Adam stops him.

"I'm okay, don't worry about me."

"My wife's tonic will take of that soon enough."

"I trust." He pauses for a moment then asks "you really love her, don't you? Your wife, that is."

"More than I could even put into words."

There's a pause again.

"I know what you mean."

"You love her like that too, your woman."

"Belle is the best thing I know, she has the kindest heart and she is the most beautiful too. This world is too ugly for her. I was too ugly for her, inside and outside, yet she did love me."

"Every man deserves love sire, no matter how awful he might be."

"I miss her.", he says staring into space.

"You will soon be on your way to see her again, sire."

"Don't", a faint voice comes from behind them. They both turn around and see Mary Jane, Jonathan's wife staring at the sky.

" Don't", she repeats and gasps loudly but before she hits the ground, she is caught by her husbands arms.

"Is she alright?", Adams enquires.

" She's having a vision, she usually has them when things wants to happen. She had one weeks before you were washed up on the shores of our village. She knew you would come and we would take care of you."

"Does that make any sense? Visions? How is that possible?"

"Its hereditary, it runs in her family. Its a blessing and a curse."

"Why should I believe this? My brain doesn't seem to be receptive of it."

"Well, sire, you said yourself that an enchantress turned you into a beast and gave you an enchanted rose to break the spell when someone falls in love with you. Logically, that makes no sense either."

Mary Jane suddenly gasps back to reality, and tightens her hold on her husband. She looks without focus, her eyes blurry like she was possessed.

"Don't!", she directs the command at Adam starling him.

" Don't go back. You'll regret it."

"What you mean by that?" Adam and Jonathan ask at the same time.

"She'll die...she will die"

"Who will?", Adam asked more concerned now.

" She'll die if you go, don't go"

"Who will die?", Adam raises his voice a little higher.

" Your love, the one who made you human. Your return shall seal her fate. Don't go. If you love her, don't go."

"I do love her. Not going does not make sense to me, she's in danger with Gaston. And I won't sit around here doing nothing. I am sorry but I cannot heed your advice."

"Most of her forewarnings do come to pass, sire. I think its better you listen.", Jonathan added.

" Not going to her is not even an option. No matter what I'll prevent her from dying even if it kills me.", saying that, he walked away and into the room.

"No! You're making a mistake.", with every word, her voice grew quieter until it was softer than a whisper then she fell asleep calmly.

Jonathan walked into his room the next morning and places the tonic on his bed side. Adam turns from his position and nods at Jonathan.

" Good morning."

"Good morning sire. My wife made this from you and asked me to bring it here. She still seems a bit disoriented from that incident."

Adam says nothing but nods in understanding.

Jonathan continues, "I am leaving for the village today, I have a client there to attend to. I'll be there for two days, my wife will take care of you till I'm back. Plus, I'm going to get more ingredients for you so the pain in your chest will subside faster."

Adam says nothing again but just nods slightly so Jonathan continues.

"I should pass around your castle grounds, is there any message I should deliver for you?"

"No, not yet, I don't want any of them to know I'm alive yet. There will be too much hassle."

"Of course, I'll be leaving now, take care."

"Same luck to you."

Jonathan leaves the room leaving Adam to his thoughts. Adam reaches for the tonic and swallows all of it in one gulp. He winces at the dreadful taste, sets the cup down and lays back on the bed.
