LUBANZI
Chapter 40

I've been too soft for long to a point where people take advantage. How did someone as old as that man even thought of touching my little sister?
I've been part of a gang when I was in varsity and we used to do a lot of things. Our gang fell apart when our leader died but as they say,you can take a gangster to work but you can never take the gangsterism out of him.
"Babe, what are you thinking about?" Fez walked in the kitchen wearing only my t-shirt.
"Damn." She realised that I was staring at her and she raised up her finger.
"Uh-uh. Take your mind out of the gutter." She opened the cupboard and took out two mugs.
"I'm making coffee, would you like one?"
"Sure."
She started making coffee while I was staring at her. Finally she was done and she gave me mine but I pulled her closer to me.
"Banzi, what if you poured it on me? It's hot." She looks cute when she's angry.
"I'm sorry. Do you forgive me?" My hands were on her waist and she was grinning instead of being mad.
"I can never stay mad at you." I kissed her.
"I love you." I said.
"I love you too Assholé." I smiled.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" She asked.
"What? Am I making you shy?" One of the babies cried.
"You better make them a bottle. A person can't rest." She took her coffee and headed upstairs.
I boiled water and while they were still boiling,I took out my phone and dialled a number.
"Sure."
"Listen can you give me information about Richard Radebe? I want everything on him. Most importantly his address and how tight the security of his house is."
"On it." He hanged up. I prepared two milk bottles and took them upstairs.
Afeziwe was rocking Nontsi in her hands while Ntsiko was crawling around. He stopped when he heard the door opening. I picked him up and gave him a bottle.
"Champ. How are you today?" All he did was just stare at me while sucking on the bottle.
"I think we should do a family photoshoot." Fez suggested.
"I'm in. You'll text me the details because I have somewhere I need to be today."
"I thought since it's Saturday, you'll come with us to see my mom."
"Eish,I forgot. I'm sorry." I feel bad.
"It's fine. We can do it another time." She was walking around the room while breastfeeding Nontsi.
"I promise to make up for it. Name your price?"
"Anything?" She smirked.
"Anything."
"Well I still need to draw up a list because I need a lot of things."
"I'm on a low budget. Feel for me."
"On a low budget for your wife?"
"Fine Afeziwe. Whatever you want, you shall get it." She grinned and came to give me a kiss. I also kissed Nontsi's forehead.
"I can't wait for them to grow up." I said.
"Me too. We would be running around the house chasing after them but it will be worth it."
I placed sleepy Ntsiko inside his crib and left. I went to take a shower then took my car keys and drove to the club.

"His house doesn't have security." I told Anathi.
"How do you know all of this?"
"I hired someone to investigate for me."
"Is he a private investigator?" She was sitting on her bed covering herself with blankets while I was sitting down on the floor holding the hot chocolate her mom made for us.
"Kind of. He's the same guy who sold me a gun."
"Hlelo, you're dealing with criminals here. You can always abort this plan."
"Over my dead body." I was looking at the map of the house.
"Yeah right. You gonna die anyway." Anathi said. I stared at her.
"I'll rather die than sit on a bed and feel sorry for myself."
"It works for me. At least I'm not plotting múrder." She scowled.
"Can you shut up? I'm trying to think here." She looked the other way.
So here's the plan, the guy knocks off at five. He'll be home by six. He currently stay alone so I have a mask and I'll wear all black and show up at his house and just shoot him and then leave. Easy peasy.

I knocked at the door, Jongikhaya opened it. He was surprised to see me.
"Mtase?"
"In the flesh." He gave me a hug.
"It's been long."
"I know. Can we come in?"
"Yeah sure." He opened the door further.
"Please fetch my baby in the car." I gave him the key to my car.
"Who's that at the back?"
"This is my son Ntsikelelo,my daughter is inside the car." He took the car keys.
"Daddy, who's at the door?" A little voice yelled from inside.
I walked in.
"Yaya?" I called out to her. She came running from the kitchen covered in flour.
"Aunty Fez!" I bend down to give her a hug and a kiss on the forehead.
"How's my Iyana doing?"
"I'm doing fine aunty. I was baking. Would you like to join us?"
"Yes please."
"Is that Serenity?" She referred to the baby on my back.
"Here is Sere." My brother walked in holding my baby.
"Oh who's that then?" Iyana asked.
"He's Sere's big brother."
"But he's also a baby."
"True. Let's go in." We went to the kitchen which was conjoined with the lounge. I placed the baby down in their strollers which my brother fetched from the car.
"Where's mom?"
"Granny is inside her room." Iyana said. I stood up and went to check up on my mother. I opened her bedroom door and she was sitting on the bed doing nothing, just staring into space.
I sat down on the chair.
"Mom,how are you?" She didn't even look at me. I sighed.
"I wish that one day,I could wake up and hear that you've healed. I love you Mom and I need you. Look..." I raised my ring finger.
"...I'm getting married soon but I can't choose a date without you. But I'll wait for you to be okay,at least till my babies can walk. I'm not giving you an ultimatum, mom but it's been long since you were sick and we want to live. But most importantly we want you in our lives."
I stood up went back to the kitchen. It was father and daughter's day between my brother and Iyana. I hope Banzi can have this kind of relationship with Serenity while I make Ntsiko mommy's boy.
It was time to leave so I went to bid my mom farewell.
"Mom, I'm leaving. I hope you can get better soon because I want you on my wedding day. You need to be prou-" My phone ringing disturbed me.
I answered the call.
"Afeziwe, hello?"
"Afeziwe, it's Anathi. I believe that Hlelo is going to do something stupid, please stop her."
"What are you talking about?" I was feeling terrified and my heart was beating rapidly by the urgency and panic in Anathi's voice.
"She has a gun and she's going to Richard's house."
"What? Where does he stay?" I was already exiting the room.
"I don't know."
"Thank you, Anathi." I hanged up.
"JoJo,can you please look after the children for me? An emergency just popped up."
"Sure." I ran to my car.
Hlelolwenkosi what are you about to do?
