"Can we see her?" I asked the doctor.
"Yes but only for few minutes. She needs to rest. Follow me." We stood up and followed her to Ambe's room.
"Mommy!" Karabo shouted and ran to his mom when we got inside the room.
Ambe kissed her son's forehead.
"Where's the baby?" Sere asked and in that moment a nurse walked in holding a baby in a pink blanket.
"Mom would you like to hold her first?" Ambe asked mom and mom agreed. She took the baby from the nurse.
"She's so beautiful and tiny. She came at a perfect day. A day when a miracle happened,uSimangaliso sethu." Mom said while staring at the baby.
"Is that what you want to name her?" Amber asked.
"Ewe mntwana wam. But I would understand if you already have a name for her."
"No mom. It's perfect. My Sima. Can I see her?" Mom gave the baby to Amber.
"Can I see her?" Sere asked and all the kids took a peek at the new addition to the family.
"Can you take us pictures? I need to upload." Amber asked. A life of a celebrity. Everything is content.
I took them pictures and some Karabo was in. She made sure to hide the baby's face while Karabo's grinning face was very visible.
I uploaded the pictures on her account and even made a caption. Within two minutes the picture was already on more than 1k reactions. Yoh!
"Thank you everyone for coming but now I would like to sleep. Kaybee be a good child to aunty okay?" Karabo nodded.
I took the children and mom and we went to the mansion. Sere and Ntsiko have clothes here so after everyone ate, changed their clothes into comfortable ones,oh and also after brushing their teeth I tugged them in.
I went to the guest room and called Banzi.
"Boo."
"You haven't slept Afeziwe? It's midnight already."
"It's been a busy day. Amber just given birth."
"Oh, congratulations to her. Now sleep."
"Why do you keep on telling me to sleep? I'm not a baby." He's annoying.
"But you're behaving like one."
"Whatever. Did you make progress about the blackmailer?"
"The phone number is registered in Richard's name." What?
"But he's dead. He was buried."
"He's dead but someone's trying to bring him back from the dead. They might blackmail you next because you're the one who parked inside the yard. The person definitely saw you."
"After living with this secret for five years it finally came to bite us?"
"It's a headache already. Anyway good night. I'm begging you please sleep."
"Of course I'll sleep. Uyadika." (You're annoying) I hanged up.
Who's this blackmailer and where was s/he all this time?
The next morning I was woken up by a phone call. I answered without ch checking the caller ID.
"Afeziwe hello?"
"Is that a way to talk to your little sister?" I sat upright and looked at the contact.
"Kaya? Oh my gosh. I missed you."
"I missed you too and that's why I'm on my way to your house now."
"Really? Can you come to the mansion? Amber gave birth."
"I saw her post on Instagram. How can you tell the whole world before me? I'm so disappointed in you."
"Dramatic,just get here."
"I'll be there in few hours. I need to inform my followers that I'm going to the Amber Mansion."
"Yoh,bye Kaya." I hanged up and dialled JoJo's number.
"Sis."
"Big bro. When are you coming here?"
"I'm going on leave next week for my holidays. You know that teachers don't just close schools like the learners."
"Mom had recovered." There was silence.
"JoJo? Are you still there?"
"Mom had recovered? Where is she?"
"Probably downstairs. We are at Amber's. She would love to see you."
"This is great news Afeziwe. I'm coming there tomorrow."
"Great and Amber gave birth."
"Iyana told me. She saw it on social media."
"Yeah. Mom named the baby Simangaliso."
"She did? It feels like a dream you know."
"It does. See you tomorrow. I need to get out of bed."
"See you tomorrow, sis." He hanged up. I was wearing Ambe's dress. I went to brush my teeth and do my hair before I headed to the kids room. They were already awake as I could hear noises.
I opened the door and Karabo was chasing Ntsiko and while Sere was playing with a doll house. It was a big doll house.
"Morning kids."
"Morning mommy. Look at my new doll house. It's so big right?"
"It is. Did you all brush your teeth?"
"Yes!" Karabo answered.
"Great. Let's go downstairs." Sere carried her doll house and they all followed me downstairs. My mom was in the kitchen cooking.
"Mom, what are you cooking? There's a helper here."
"Afe you can't always rely on strangers to do everything for you. I haven't cooked in a long time so I decided to make some porridge. Bazukulwana niyasithanda isdudu?" (Grandchildren do you love porridge?) She asked the kids.
"Indoni isdudu?" (What is isdudu?) Sere frowned. I laughed at the way she had frowned. It was like mom is talking about something disgusting.
"It's porridge." I said to her.
"I don't eat porridge!" She yelled.
"Relax, there's nothing wrong with not eating porridge." I assured her. Sere stopped eating porridge when she was three.
"Porridge is very nutritious, Afeziwe. Your daughter needs to eat it."
"I don't want it, Makhulu. It's not nice." My daughter insisted. My mom just shook her head.
She prepared two bowls for Ntsiko and Karabo. She added peanut butter in their porridge and I had to make cereal for Sere.
"Ninjani bazukulwana?" (How are you grandchildren?" She asked Ntsiko and Karabo.
"Ndiyaphila." (I'm fine) Ntsiko answered.
"I love this young boy and you?" She looked at Karabo who was stuffing himself with porridge.
"Karabo doesn't speak isiXhosa. He only speak English and a little bit of Tswana." I told mom and she clapped her hands in shock.
"Hai,his mother is Xhosa. He's supposed to know isiXhosa."
"Mama, he's only two years old." I laughed. Mom can be dramatic.
"And by the way Kaya is on her way. She'll be here in few hours."
"Really? I can't wait to meet my daughter. How old is she this year?"
"She's turning twenty one years old."
"Twenty one already? She was only ten when I became sick. I was sick for 11 years?" I nodded. I wasn't really counting but now that my mom mention it, it's really been long.
"I'm just glad, I'm okay."
"Yeah. I need to go to my house, I'll come back later."
"Mommy can I come along? I miss dad." Sere and Lubanzi are inseparable. The girl took my man right under my nose.
"Bring him here. I would like to meet him." Mom suggested.
"I'll bring dad, okay?" She nodded.
"Mommy, bring my tablet and teddy bear." Ntsiko said. It's the same teddy bear Nthabiseng gave him. He sleeps with it.
"My tablet too." Sere added.
"Me too." Karabo also said.
"I'll bring everyone tablet." I placed my bowl of porridge in the sink and went upstairs.
