Let me go, Mr. Hill [by Shallow South] Chapter 1315 What a bold woman. âEliza, stop fooling around. Didnât I make myself clear enough? This is Chester Jewell.â
âOh, really?â Elizaâs brows relaxed. âI assumed the man who fell for Cindy to be ugly and have poor taste. When I saw this elegant and strikingly handsome gentleman, I didnât dare take him as the rumored Young Master Jewell.â
âElizaâ¦â Shedrickâs face went red with rage.
âDid I say something wrong? I just praised Young Master Jewell for his strikingly handsome looks. â
Eliza shrugged, looking baffled. âI had never seen Chester before, so I could only imagine his appearance. Since I hate Cindy, I donât have a good impression of her man either.â
Her words left Shedrick exasperated. All he could do was look at Chester fearfully. âIâm sorry, Young Mater Jewell. Eliza⦠She may be good at acting, but thereâs something wrong with her brain.â
Anyhow, he wanted to keep Eliza, considering that she was the companyâs milch cow.
Chester put out the cigarette in the ashtray. When he lifted his head, his exquisite thin lips curled into a n enigmatic smile. âFrom the way you beat around the bush to criticize me, I can see that you have a problem with me.â
âDo you want me to be honest? Yes, I have a problem with you.â
Eliza nodded calmly. She stared into Chesterâs dark eyes and said indifferently, âYou can pamper Cindy however you want since sheâs your girlfriend. Itâs fine if you privately invest in her by helping her secure a role in movies and release albums, but you canât possibly feed the audience with sh*t. The most ridiculous thing is Cindy winning the award for being the most well-liked actress last year with that kind of acting. Haâ¦â
âEliza, donât overstep in line.â Shedrick panicked. He knew Chester very well, and Chester could be terrifying when he flew into a rage.
Nevertheless, Eliza continued to say calmly, as if she did not hear what Shedrick said. âSo are you going to fork out some money to buy her the best actress award at the end of the year, Young Master Jewell?â
âThatâs my business. How I spend my money has nothing to do with you.â
Chester slowly rose to his feet, and his tall figure made the atmosphere of the office much duller. â
Youâre shouting at me simply because you think itâs unfair, huh? Well, life is unfair. If youâre capableâ¦
You can be my woman too, and perhaps⦠youâll receive the same treatment as Cindy.â
As soon as he finished speaking, he reached out to her chin.
Elizaâs expression slightly shifted, and she smacked his hand away.
Beneath her cap were a pair of eyes that briefly flashed with astonishment and hatred.
A dumbfounded look had already washed over the face of Shedrick, who was standing aside. Chester was no doubt the so-called Young Master Jewell. He even had the mood to hit on a woman at this point in time.
However, his behavior was understandable. The entertainment industry was filled with beautiful women, but a woman like Eliza, who had character and looks, was rare.
âIâm sorry. If I had that intention, I wouldâve become someone elseâs woman long ago. It would never be your turn, Young Master Jewell.â
Eliza argued with an indifferent look on her face.
A faint smile was still visible on the corners of Chesterâs mouth, but his eyes had darkened. âSo whatâs the point of you coming here and kicking up a fuss? To our company, youâre merely a money- making tool. Cindy was chosen to be the female lead based on her ability. Regardless of whether it was based on her physical ability or something else, it was her capability.â
âYouâre right.â
Eliza nodded. âHaving said that, when your company signed me on, it said in black and white that itâd support me and offer me openings. What has your company offered me these few years? The advertisements and endorsements Iâve been involved in these two years are all my own earnings. As for the movies and TV programs, I attended each of the auditions before securing the roles. I donât get any training despite having signed the contract, but when it comes to commission, you waste no time in taking it.â
Shedrick said, âWhen our company signed the contract with you four years ago, we did provide you with openings. But your acting skills were lousy, and you didnât make an effort to improve yourself either. What could we do?â
âNow that Iâve worked hard and become famous, have you given me any openings?â
Eliza asked, âNot only did you not give me any openings, but you also helped other artists under your company to snatch my openings with devious tactics. Iâve canceled all my recent movie appointments just for the sake of Director Cheeverâs movie, only to find that Cindy is making her comeback. She has snatched my role away just like that. Donât I have the right to demand an explanation for it?â
