Let me go, Mr. Hill Novel [By Shallow South] Chapter 2139 In the official residence.
Just as Rodney carried Dani over from the sitterâs hands, the baby started crying not long after.
He became annoyed. When he came in the morning, Dani cried as soon as he carried her. He kept telling her that he was her father, but she did not understand him at all.
To Dani, Rodneyâs scent had become unfamiliar. She did not like strangers carrying her. Rodney then kept playing with her after she woke up from her nap in the evening. They managed to get a little closer, but Dani still did not want him to carry her.
âDani, Iâm Dad. Donât you recognize me?â Rodney was heartbroken. âWhen you were just born, you liked me carrying you so much. I was the one who put you to sleep every night.â
Dani did not care. She kept pouting and crying. Her teary eyes glanced toward the sitter at the side.
The sitter sighed as she watched.
Heidiâs heart ached from listening to the childâs cries. She could not help but mock coldly, âChildren are forgetful, especially those who are just a few months old. Theyâll forget people if they donât appear for one week, let alone you who havenât cared for your child for more than a month.â
Nathan kept a cold expression and did not say a word. He thought Rodney deserved it anyway.
Rodney brought everything upon himself.
Rodneyâs face was flushed red from being mocked. âI didnât do it on purpose. There are a lot of things going on in the company these days, and Sarah-â
âYes, youâre busy with your companyâs matters, busy taking care of Sarah, and busy preparing a wedding for her. You donât even have time to spare to accompany your daughter,â Nathan scolded Rodney. âDani might be young, but she can differentiate whoâs more attentive to her. Sheâs your biological child, yet she canât even compare to anything else in your heart.â
Rodney opened his mouth reluctantly. However, seeing his daughter, who was crying pitifully in his arms, a deep wave of guilt welled up in him.
âOh, why is our Dani crying so badly?â
Ryanâs sarcastic voice came from the door.
Rodney raised his head and looked over in dissatisfaction. He saw Ryan and Freya walking side by side. Freya was wearing a mask, and she had a scarf around her neck. She held a hot drink in her hands. The two were of similar age. Ryan was competent with a good character while Freya had a stunning figure and beautiful looks. They did not look like siblings at all. Instead, they seemed to be a man and woman who shared an ambiguous relationship.
Yes, things looked ambiguous between them.
It seemed to be that way to Rodney.
Flames of jealousy burned in his chest.
Freya did not even care to look at Rodney. Her attention was fully on Dani, who was crying. She was anxious, but she did not dare to carry Dani as she had a cold.
âDani, my good baby. Why are you crying?â Ryan quickly extended his hands to carry her.
Rodney carried his daughter and avoided him.
However, when Dani saw Ryan, she kept stretching her tiny hands toward him, wanting Ryan to carry her. When Ryan could not do so, she cried even more sadly.
Traces of depression and anger welled up in Rodneyâs heart.
Why? Dani was his biological child, yet she would rather Ryan carry her instead of him.
âRodney, can you cut it out? Canât you see that Dani is crying? Children canât cry for too long. Itâll hurt their throat.â Ryanâs handsome face darkened. He extended his hands. âGive her to me. I donât want to snatch her because I donât want to hurt her.â
âSheâs my daughter. I can coax her by myself.â Rodney let out a hmph.
Freya got furious seeing his arrogant face. However, before she could unleash her anger, Nathan got angry first. âIf you could coax Dani, she wouldnât be crying until now. If you really cared about her, you wouldnât have gotten involved with other women outside instead of staying at home to accompany your wife and child. The child is crying. You might not be distressed over it, but we are.â
Rodneyâs face paled.
Ryan took that opportunity and carried Dani away.
