âWe're already married, so itâs only natural to get a child next. I donât care how resistant you are to me. I have no intention of divorcing you.â Jessica looked at Forrest firmly. âOf course, you can wait till the day we get a divorce.â
âYouâre unreasonable.â
Forrest walked away once again.
However, he was flustered and astounded this time.
He never expected Jessica to have such a strong desire to give birth to his child.
In Lynch Corporation, a small-scale meeting involving the senior executives was held ina spacious office.
Forrest sat on the rightmost end of the coach. His chiseled jawline appeared indifferent and distant as usual. However, today, he was staring at the document in his hand for a long time as though he was absent-minded.
âPresident Lynch... President Lynch.â
After being called a few times, Forrest recovered from his musings. He lifted his head, only to find a few senior executives staring at him.
The person who called his name was the general manager of the sales department, Wilbur Cumming.
Wilbur coughed, and his body tilted toward Forrest. With a deep voice, he said, â Chairman Lynch was talking about Graham Constructionâs final payment of 50 million dollars. He asked if you have any ideas.â
Forrest soon got the point. Graham Construction had been owing Lynch Corporation the final payment for almost half a year, and they had yet to settle it. âI found out that Graham Construction had received the wrong information, so they bought a piece of land at an astronomical price, resulting in a capital chain rupture. Even if we try to ask them for the debt in court, the outcome will probably be that theyâll trade their properties to pay off the debt. As far as I know, the prices of the few properties under Graham Construction are exorbitant due to the local policy, and consequently, they canât sell it.â
âIf thatâs the case, itâs pointless to get so many properties,â Manager Hopper from the finance department said with annoyance.
Forrest said, âActually, thereâs another solution. We can use the debt for investment. I got someone to analyze it. In fact, the land they bade for 200 million dollars wasnât worth that price. But if itâs developed, they can definitely earn a few hundred million dollars. The thing is, Graham Construction doesn't have a starting capital at the moment.â
Manager Hopper became troubled. âPresident Lynch, do you mean that not only will we not get back our 50 million dollars, but we also need to invest in Graham Construction? Let me remind you that weâre not familiar with properties. Whatâs more, our company doesnât have much money as itâs expanding rapidly at the moment.â âWonât there be a final payment of 80 million dollars due in a few days?â
Forrest raised his brows. âWe just need to invest 50 million dollars, and we can earn at least 500 million dollars two years later. We can come to an agreement with Graham Construction where we'll pull out once the project ends. If something happens to the project, they must use the land to compensate us.
By the look of things, they'll agree with it. I suggest sending a team there for inspection.
âNot only must we inspect them, but we also need to analyze the budget.â
Jerry nodded. âForrest, Iâll let you handle this matter.â
After the meeting ended, the senior executives left one by one.
Forrest packed his things up, and when he rose to his feet, Jerry said earnestly, âForrest, I wonât be entering the office every day from now on. Youâll be the one mainly dealing with the companyâs affairs, so you need to concentrate on the big picture. Donât take risks. Just take things slow and steady.â
âDad, donât worry. Our companyâs construction should be almost done. We have signed contracts with over 10 large companies that have recovery funds. There shouldnât be any issues.â
âMm. Why didnât you go home last night? I heard you drank too much during a social function.â
âYeah. I slept in my apartment.â Forrestâs head hurt a little. He had no idea how to tell his parents about moving out.
âYouâve been working very hard recently too. When you go back at night, I'll get your mom to cook you some soup.â
Jerry patted Forrest on the shoulder. âDonât just immerse yourself in work. Itâs time to get a girlfriend.
Your mom is quite desperate.â
Forrest was speechless.
