âAre you my brother?â Chester clenched his teeth.
âAre you sure the woman youâre referring to isnât Eliza? Iâve long suspected that you paid too much attention to her. Not to mention love, there must be some likes and appreciations but the Chester I know is calm and self-controlled. I read countless women, even if I like it, I can control it, so I wonât torture myself into this life-or-death.â Shaun said.
Chester chuckled to himself. Yes, if she was just Eliza, he could still retreat, even if he admired it.
Furthermore, he had intended to give up and leave.
Chester suddenly realized that Charity had been hidden in his heart all these years when he learned that Eliza was Charity.
The more he hated her and hated her back then, the more he loved her.
He simply cannot see clearly. Until he was tempted again by Eliza. Only then did he realize how much he adored Charity regardless of her appearance.
Itâs just that he was too self-centered and discovered it too late.
Chester said softly, âI adore her. But she will never forgive me, we canât.â
Shaunâs expression was incredibly complex. âD*mn! Now you, too, understand love.â
âI understood love, but itâs too late now.â Chester smirked, his eyes dark red. âShaun, I donât know how to love someone and thatâs what caused the situation today. I havenât been able to do surgery, I canât sit down and work, and Iâm full of her, so I can only numb myself with alcohol.â
Shaun pursed his thin lips. Chesterâs pain was all he could feel. The most painful thing in the world was not being able to love her. âChester, if you truly love her, try to win her forgiveness because you used to be. You forced her, but as long as you are sincere enough. you can do a lot of things to help her or the people around her. You canât do it once, twice, three times, ten times, a hundred times. You must learn how to spoil a woman, just as arrogant and vicious as before.â
Chester said, âLook, I did a lot of hurtful things in the past, almost killing our children, but we finally reconciled.â
âBetween the two of you, where is the conflict? You go to atone for the sin. I once cut off Loganâs finger, then I cut off my own to pay him back. It depends on whether you are determined enough.â Shaun said, raising his broken hand.
âIt would be better if she was just Eliza.â Chester muttered.
âWhat?â
Chester said, âShaun, you donât understand. What I did wrong to her is far more serious than what you did to Catherine. I owe lives to her.â
Shaun was taken aback and exclaimed, âWhat the h-e-l-l have you done?â
Chester grimaced, âI believe Eliza will only forgive me if I die. But if I die, if I still⦠If I have another life, I recognize it, but I might not be able to see her in it.â
The most painful thing in this world is knowing that now Chester has only loved Eliza, and she has only loved Chester. But it is impossible to be together.
Shaun suddenly found himself speechless. He imagined that if he were Chester, he would be in excruciating pain.
