Let me go, Mr. Hill [by Shallow South] Chapter 623 A pin-drop silence fell upon the meeting room. From Shaunâs tone, it sounded like he was giving Catherine special treatment. Was it because she was his ex-wife?
Besides, the way she spoke to him made it seem like there was still something between them.
Within a few minutes, the shareholders became flustered and regretted having stood up for Sarah.
Oh no, it would be horrible if they were brought over to Shaun for a âlittle chatâ.
Director Irvine coughed dryly. âUm⦠Weâll respect President Hillâs decision.â
âThatâs right, weâll go along with anything that President Hill says,â the rest of them echoed and nodded immediately.
Sarah turned pale instantly. She had been waiting in front of the door to see Catherine get humiliated, but now it seemed she was the one feeling embarrassed instead.
âWhy are you still here?â Catherine suddenly turned around and waved her phone at the woman.
âDidnât you hear what Shaun said? Hurry up to hand over your things. I really donât want to see you in my company.â
ââ¦â
Sarah was utterly infuriated. Her eyes welled up with tears but she lowered her head and immediately left.
The shareholders were all at a loss of what to do. It was all President Hillâs fault for putting his ex-wife and current girlfriend in the same place.
âRight, back to business.â A stern expression came over Catherineâs face. âWhat was that about? âWeâll respect President Hillâs decision?â What has he got to do with this company? If you all love kissing ass so much, then quit right now and go work for him.â
She slammed her palm on the table, her eyes overflowing with indifference. âRemember that this corporation was built by my mother and she was a Jones. If you canât accept that, then just leave and enjoy the yearly bonus at home. Your sons, daughters, and relatives who work here will pack up and go with you.â
â¦
The meeting finally came to an end.
Harvey looked at Catherine with respect. âChairwoman Jones, you were really impressive just now.
When you were in charge in the past, you still showed much respect to those shareholders. But earlier, your dominating presence really told them whoâs boss. Youâre awesome.â
She was speechless at his words and coughed dryly. âPeople change. I used to respect them and treated them as elders and as comrades who would fight in battle alongside myself. But I realize that the feeling isnât mutual. Those people only care about personal profits and benefits.â
âMany people are like that.â
Harvey suddenly looked to the front.
Catherine followed his gaze, only to see Sarah walking toward her while carrying a box full of belongings. She was accompanied by Yael, who was looking at Catherine with disgust.
âCatherine, donât look so smug.â Yael glared at her. âYouâre threatening President Hill with the marriage certificate. We all know that he doesnât care about you.â
âYouâre only a bodyguard. Donât act as if Iâve stolen your man.â
Catherine pouted. âThereâs so much you could learn from Elleâs grace.â
âYouâ¦â
âAlright,â Sarah said to Yael. âWell, why wonât you just let go and have a new beginning with another man? They hate to be threatened the most. You might be left with nothing if you provoke him further.â
Catherine smiled before whispering next to Sarahâs ear, âStop pretending. Remember how you destroyed everything I had? Iâll slowly pay you back for that.â
Sarah narrowed her eyes and chuckled. âDo you think you can compete with me? Dream on. I can easily crush you to death, like an ant.â
âIs that so? We shall see, then.â Catherine straightened up and walked past the woman.
âCatherine, youâre too naive,â Sarah said to her receding silhouette, âMany partners who are working with Hudson now are only doing so out of respect for me and Shaun. Theyâll stop the collaborations once I leave. Soon, Hudson will lose the ability to keep going. Iâll be waiting to see what you can do then.â
âDonât worry about that. Hurry up and get lost,â Catherine replied impolitely.
Rage was written all over Sarahâs face.
After leaving the building, she made a phone call. âManager Howard, get the word out that Catherine has offended both Shaun and me. Heâs not bothered about the Hudson Corporation anymore.â
