13. Not Mature Enough!
Dark Temptation!
Author's POV
"Fuck!"
Arthur silently cursed while rubbing his face. He couldn't believe that he was fantasizing about an underage girl.
Arabella looked at him confused when he got up with a disappointed face. Disappointed at himself.
"Garry will drop you back in the morning."
He informed and walked away.
Garry met Arthur on the stairs.
"I thought you were not going to leave her side..."
He teased him.
"You are interested in her."
Arthur sighed.
"She is seventeen. It's not happening."
Garry was surprised.
"Shit, she is just a kid..."
He glanced at the girl who was sleeping on the couch.
"Doesn't look like a kid but she is innocent, it's believable."
"Drop her back in the morning."
Arthur ordered and started walking towards his room.
"Why are you stepping back?"
Garry frowned.
"I mean, it's clear that she is fascinating to you. If you want then you can wait till she turns eighteen..."
"That's not how it works... She is a kid, let her explore her world. She is not mature enough to understand the feelings which are required for this kind of relationship..."
Arthur shook his head.
"She is too innocent for me... Let her go!"
Garry smiled.
"You know what, I like this about you... I mean, you are strict and sometimes cruel too but you know what's right and wrong... Sometimes you want to do something really bad but you give up because you know it's not going to work unlike Oliver who does things without caring about results."
Arthur smirked while heading to his destination.
"And why do you think I am like this?"
Garry shrugged with a chuckle.
"Everyone knows that your mother is like this..."
Garry looked at Arabella who was fast asleep.
"How can you be so unfair to my friend, little girl. You stole his heart and broke it in one day..."
He huffed and went to his room.
Arabella woke up in the morning and looked around. There was a maid who was cleaning the living room. She sat on the couch and waited for Garry.
"You are up?"
Garry entered, all ready for the day.
"Cami, give her some breakfast.."
He ordered a maid.
Arabella shook her head.
"No, I'll go back now... They must be worried, I couldn't inform them yesterday."
She mumbled sleepily.
He looked around to see if Arthur was coming out but he didn't.
"Okay, come I'll drop you."
He gestured her to get up because it was confirmed that Arthur won't come out. He never look back at the things he doesn't want to have.
Arabella got up and started following him but Cami called Garry.
"Sir"
Garry stopped and turned around to look at her.
"Yes?"
Cami was aged woman and she was the only one looking after the house.
"Sir, can you please think about hiring a cleaner?"
She was nervous that he wouldn't agree.
"Please don't get me wrong, I have been looking after this house for years but with passing age, it's difficult for me to clean the entire house daily and cook after that."
"We have talked about this before, Cami. You know that no one wants to work in mafia house... This town is small, it's difficult to find a good house help who doesn't poke nose in unnecessary things."
Garry replied.
"But I understand your concern. See, if you can convince someone. Pay is good... But make sure that you don't get into trouble."
Cami turned stressed, she herself doesn't know any trustworthy person but she still nodded in agreement.
Arabella was listening to them silently, she just wanted to go back and check on Matilda.
She followed Garry out and sat inside the car when he opened the door for her.
He noticed how silent she was, waiting for him to start the car. She didn't even try to look for Arthur.
"You don't want to meet Arthur?"
He asked amused.
She looked at him.
"No! Why? Should I meet him before leaving?"
She was confused.
He raised his eyebrows surprised.
"What is he to you? I mean you stayed in his house the whole night."
He wanted to know how she thinks.
She fiddled with her fingers nervously.
"The man who gave me charity, saved me from my uncle and gave me shelter..."
"And you still don't want to see and thank him?"
He teased.
Her face was filled with confusions.
"I thanked him last night. Do I need to do it again?"
He couldn't believe that she was that unaware of her surroundings.
"So you don't think it's necessary to see him?"
She shook her head but was nervous due to his questions.
He sighed and started the car.
"Arthur is right, you are immature to understand feelings... You are seriously unbelievable."
He was amused that she wasn't trying to get the attention of rich handsome man. She was literally sitting there like she didn't even meet him.
Meanwhile, Arthur was watching them from his window. The girl was just like a beautiful star in the sky. She came, she sparkled and she left. He couldn't do anything except admiring her from afar.
She frowned, not understanding his words. Garry dropped her back to the orphanage and she went inside after thanking him.
He huffed while driving back.
"One doesn't want to do anything and one is unaware of the world. I need to do something. Can't let my friend lose like this."
Arabella entered and realised that she was worried for nothing. No one even noticed that she was gone because everyone was worried for Matilda. Julie was still in the hospital and thought that Arabella went to the orphanage so she didn't look for her.
Arabella freshened up and went to the hospital.
"What happened?"
She saw Julie who was crying silently.
"Arabella, Matilda is serious... The doctor said that only surgery is covered under charity but for ward and medicines we have to pay. They said they have to keep her admitted for almost three weeks and it's too much money."
Julie was stressed out, her eyes were puffy because of crying.
"From where we should bring so much money... None of us have it. People won't help us with cash because they annually give money to charity."
"We have to do something."
Arabella tried to comfort her.
"But what?"
"I don't know...."
Julie covered her face and sobbed.
"Matilda is like our mother. We have to help her but we can't do anything. We can't even do jobs because we are minors."
Arabella remembered something when she said that.
"Maybe I know one place where I can get a job."
She replied hesitantly.
Julie looked at her with hope.
"If that's true then please do it. We need money."
Arabella thought for a second. She also wants to help Matilda because she was the one who rescued her.
Her decision might not be safe but she had no other option. Julie was right, no one in the town will give jobs to minors.
Still she took her time to think about it but there was no other option. She informed Julie about it who was against the decision after listening to it but Arabella had decided.
"I'll be fine... Relax! I need to leave now."
Arabella went back to the Knight house, she was confident before reaching there but froze outside the gate when she heard Arthur's voice.
