Chapter 20

19. Back To Work!

Dark Temptation!

Author's POV

Julie tried her best to ask her what happened but Arabella went into silent mode. She was shocked and traumatized by whatever she saw.

She thought Arthur would be different from Oliver but they both were the same. He was equally brutal.

She refused to talk to anyone and to leave her bed.

"I don't think she wants to go back to work."

Julie huffed while looking a Arabella sadly who was sleeping.

"Then don't force her, why are you worried?"

The small boy who stays in the same orphanage was there with Julie. They are good friends.

"But Romeo, she doesn't have self confidence at all. Small things scare her..."

She was worried about her.

"But isn't it obvious for her to get scared. You said they are criminals."

Romeo questioned confused.

"Yeah but they won't hurt her... I mean they would have hurt her that day itself. She is just paranoid and that's why she gets scared."

She huffed.

"I need to do something to make her take risks."

They talked until they both fell asleep.

It was morning, Arthur was training in the backyard but his mind was on Arabella. The way she ran away last night, he was sure that she isn't coming back. Garry's kick on his chest brought him back to reality.

"What's wrong with you, you are not focused!"

Garry has never seen him distracted by anything.

Arthur wasn't going to give up, he was against her working but that's the only way how he can see her everyday and he wasn't going to give up.

"Garry, I want that hospital's number..."

He stopped the fight and wiped his sweaty face.

"Why?"

Garry couldn't understand why he was asking for it.

"Nothing, I just want to call my little Dove back to her cage."

He smirked.

Meanwhile Arabella was sleeping until she was shaken by Julie.

"Arabella, Matilda is serious. We need to go to the hospital."

Arabella quickly got up and washed her face, she didn't even get the chance to think about anything else.

Julie was standing beside nuns while they were talking to doctors, she was listening to whatever was happening.

She came back to Arabella with a crying face.

"She is not recovering. We have to keep her in the hospital only and for that we need more money."

Arabella grew worried.

"What do we do now?"

"I don't know!"

Julie wiped her tears.

"We need money... I gave your salary to sister Helena and she deposited it in the hospital so now we have to get money for Knights too... I am sure that they won't let you leave with the advance salary."

Arabella's face fell, she got up and stood by the glass wall from where she could see Matilda. The woman was fighting with death.

She thought that she will leave the job but now she was forced to rethink about it. The job pays well and she is not going to get that money from anywhere else.

If she leaves the job then everyone will be in problem.

There is no doubt that her heart will be in throat while working there but she has no choice now. The only thing she can do is maintain distance from those men.

"Arabella, what are you thinking?"

Julie approached her when she saw her lost.

Arabella turned towards her and shook her head.

"Nothing, I'll leave now or else I'll get late for the work."

Julie looked at her surprised.

"But you don't want to go back."

"It's okay, I'll manage... I am used to the horror in my life."

She smiled bitterly.

"Bye"

Julie looked at her sadly when Arabella walked away.

Arthur was at dining table for breakfast, waiting for his little bird to arrive. He knows that she will be coming back after whatever he did.

"Why are you not eating?"

Garry questioned.

"Waiting for someone."

He looked at the door.

Cami placed the glass of juice on the table.

"Can you check with the Arabella, Garry? She is not here yet."

Garry looked at the watch.

"I'll call her after breakfast."

Arthur was smirking faintly while looking at his plate. He was confident. The door bell rang and his smirk widened.

Cami opened the door and smiled at Arabella.

"Come."

"Sorry, I got late!"

She apologized and entered inside.

Arthur smiled and took a bite. The wait was over.

He noticed how she didn't even look at him and went straight to kitchen.

Arabella sighed in relief when she avoided Arthur.

"This is how you need to work now. Avoid him!"

As decided she was doing her work silently like she doesn't even exist in the house.

Cami had asked her to clean the light lamps on the walls and she was looking for a stool to reach the height.

She finally found one and stood on it to clean the lamp.

She raised her hands and the stool started shaking. She gasped but Arthur came at the right time and supported the stool with his foot.

She sighed in relief and looked back just to see her boss watching her with crossed hands over his chest while he was very easily holding the stool still with his foot.

"Do it, I won't let you fall."

He looked up at her.

She gulped and started cleaning the lamp. The scenes from last night were flashing in front of her.

"I thought you won't come back."

He sounded amused. She was filled with nervousness and couldn't speak.

"What made you come back?"

Arthur waited for her reply but she didn't speak. It made him frown.

"I asked you something."

Arabella closed her eyes nervously. Her heart started beating fast as last night flashed in front of her. She has seen Oliver fighting the same way but he didn't slided people the way Arthur did. He looked more lethal and brutal than Oliver. She was struggling to erase it from her mind.

"I can't___"

She tried to handle herself but lost her balance and fell down.
