40. First Impression!
Dark Temptation!
Author's POV
"What does this pointing towards you mean?"
Damian asked Knight brothers.
"Dad, she has selective mutism. She won't talk to you until she feels safe... She is pointing towards us for help."
Oliver covered up.
"She is a househelp. Works with Cami."
"Ohh!"
Damian looked at the girl.
"I am definitely more approachable than these two devils. You can be assured. Relax!"
He smiled.
"What's your good name?"
Arabella relaxed and smiled softly when he smiled. He definitely looked approachable with his sweet smile.
"Arabella!"
She mumbled.
Damian chuckled and smiled.
"I love that name... It's beautiful!"
She smiled.
"Thank you!"
He gave her a way and she went to the kitchen.
"Isn't she took young to work here?"
He looked at Arthur.
"And you don't like maids."
His head turned towards Oliver.
"Long story, Dad..."
Arthur came down.
"Take care of your eye first. We have enough time to talk about your long story."
He shook his head.
"God knows what you two are upto."
He walked away and they both looked at each other.
"No fights till they are here."
Arthur suggested.
"Agree!"
Oliver nodded.
"We have to hide the truth from them, they are already doubtful."
"I'll talk to Arabella... She also needs to be careful."
He sighed.
Arabella went to the kitchen and saw Cami was busy more than usual. She was hurriedly preparing everything.
"Cami, you look stressed."
"Not stressed, sweetheart... I just want everything perfect for Rose ma'am... She is hear after so long."
Cami hurriedly chopped the vegetables.
"She likes everything perfect for Damian sir..."
"For Damian sir only? Not for herself?"
Arabella asked curiously and started making juice.
She chuckled.
"She is always like that... She never thinks about herself, her life revolves around her husband only... Like protecting him is the only motive of her life."
"Protecting him?"
Arabella was confused.
"Shouldn't it be other way around? I thought mafia men are protective of their wives."
Cami laughed at her question.
"Yes, it's usually like that but here it's different... She is her husband's personal bodyguard."
Arabella gasped.
"What? I didn't know that..."
She was shocked.
"Oh my god! How's this possible? Wife and bodyguard, both?"
"Why don't you ask your friends about it? Afterall it's their parents story."
Cami teased her.
Arabella blushed and cleared her throat.
"Is she really strict, Cami?"
Cami hummed.
"Depends! She doesn't like to talk much so you might feel that she is cold towards you. She won't do anything to you until you become a threat for her family. Just don't mess around her and you will be fine..."
"Okay!"
Arabella scrunched her nose in disgust.
"Yuk! Who drinks bitter gourd juice?"
She grabbed the tray and turned around just to collide with someone.
She gasped when the entire glass of juice spilled, her horror fuelled when she saw Rose's grey eyes staring sternly at her.
Arabella almost cried when she saw Rose's shirt drenched in green juice.
Cami closed her eyes in regret.
"Jesus! What did you do?"
She quickly grabbed the tray from Arabella.
"Ma'am, I am extremely sorry... It was a mistake."
Rose was still looking at the girl who was staring at her like she has seen a ghost.
"Was it?"
She asked Arabella who was frozen in her place.
"Say sorry, Arabella!..."
Cami patted her back.
"She is really good help, Ma'am... She is from the orphanage..."
She tried to make her impression.
"I think the girl can speak for herself."
Rose was still looking at Arabella sternly.
"Am I right, Arabella?"
The emphasis on 'Arabella' name made poor girl shudder.
Arabella opened mouth but couldn't speak anything.
"She has selective mutism, Angel... You scared her, now she won't be able to talk to you."
Damian entered the kitchen and saw juice spilled on Rose, he silently cursed and shook his head but tried to ease the situation.
"Woah! Nice job, Arabella... I really had no mood to drink this juice today... You saved me."
He looked at Rose.
"Rose, let's get you cleaned."
Rose frowned at Arabella who was shaking in front of her nervously.
"Make it again..."
She ordered Cami.
"And it will be tasted by me before he takes it."
Arabella looked at her as she walked away with her husband.
"Shit, I messed up... Now she hates me!"
She covered her face and cursed herself.
Cami looked at her sadly.
"Don't worry, take another glass to her and apologise. Everything will be fine... She is not that bad."
Arabella nodded and took another glass to their room. She gulped and knocked on the door. To her bad luck, Rose was in the room with Damian.
When she entered, Rose didn't even look at her and grabbed the glass. She tasted it first and then gave it to Damian.
Arabella was unconsciously standing there and was analysing her. Also, she was struggling to say sorry.
She opened and closed her mouth until Rose finally looked at her.
"What are you waiting for?"
Arabella furiously shook her head and hurriedly walked out of the room.
Rose sighed and shook her head.
"Who hired this child? She is terrified."
She started tying his tie.
"And terrified of whom?"
Damian chuckled.
"Go easy on her... She is just a innocent kid."
Rose looked at him confused.
"But I didn't do anything... I was silent. Was I really scary?"
Damian laughed and kissed her head.
"Ohh! my dear wife, you have no idea that your silence is more scary than my bullets..."
She huffed.
"I can't be more expressive than this... I am trying my best. And don't let that girl roam around me, she is clumsy."
Arabella was running downstairs when Oliver caught her.
"What happened?"
She shook her head, embarrassed to tell him about whatever happened.
"Nothing!... Your lips?"
He touched his busted lips.
"Treat it then!"
He handed her medical kit which was in his hand.
She looked around nervously when he pulled her towards the couch. Oliver sat down and made her sit on the coffee table.
She opened the medical kit but paused when Arthur also came and sat beside Oliver.
"I need this too."
He demanded.
Oliver glared at him and he gave him the same look.
"What's wrong with you two? Why do you always fight?"
She felt angry when she looked at their injured faces.
"I didn't like this at all... You two fight like Chow and Maou."
"Who are they?"
Oliver asked confused.
"Street dogs in front of the orphanage."
She mocked and they both chuckled.
"You guys are so shameless. Laughing while I am scolding you... You know what, you deserve these busted faces. I am not treating you."
She got up madly but they both grabbed her hand.
"What's happening here?"
All three of them froze when they heard Damian.
