10~The Result

His Longing❤️

I

t was my second day as the newly elected girls' team captain, and I had a lot of work to do. I spent the entire night preparing the necessary documents and lists. My goal was to prove to everyone, especially Zain, that I was capable of handling this responsibility.

The next morning, I woke up late, feeling groggy from the lack of sleep. After a quick shower and getting dressed, I rushed downstairs to meet Kriti. We skipped breakfast, as I had to submit the file to Zain before 9 AM.

As we drove to college, I sped through the roads, breaking several rules along the way. We arrived at the college, and I rushed towards the student council room, glancing at my watch, which read 8:58 AM.

In my haste, I collided with someone, and we both fell to the ground. I landed on top of him, and our lips accidentally touched. I was shocked to see that the person under me was none other than Zain Malik.

We quickly got up, dusting ourselves off, and avoiding eye contact. Just then, we heard a clicking sound. Aditya was standing nearby, holding his phone, a sly grin spreading across his face.

Before I could react, Zain swiftly walked away, and I followed suit, feeling embarrassed and awkward. I couldn't believe what had just happened. How could I have accidentally kissed my arch-nemesis?

As I walked away, I couldn't shake off the feeling of embarrassment. How would I face Zain now? What would people think? I felt like I was going to collapse from the embarrassment.

Why did these awkward moments always seem to happen to me, and with Zain, of all people?

I got into my car and left the college, handing the file to Aditya to give to Zain. I couldn't face him just yet; I needed time to process my emotions and calm the storm brewing inside me.

I drove to the outskirts of London, where a serene lake provided a peaceful escape. I sat down on a rock near the water's edge, feeling the cold wind blow and listening to the soothing sound of the water. This was my personal sanctuary, where I came to clear my mind and reflect on my thoughts.

As I sat there, memories of my past flooded my mind, reminding me of my purpose for coming to London and my goal of seeking revenge. I couldn't afford to be weak; I had to be strong for her sake.

After spending some time by the lake, I felt more composed and drove back home. On the way, I checked my phone and saw that Kriti had called me 15 times. I called her back, and she picked up quickly.

"Where are you, Saarah?" she exclaimed.

"I'm on my way back," I replied calmly. "What's up?"

"Zain told me to remind you that we're leaving tomorrow at 9 AM," she said.

"Yeah, I know," I replied, and we chatted for a bit before hanging up.

As soon as I got home, Kriti and I went shopping for some last-minute trip essentials. Afterward, we packed our bags according to the instructions and prepared for the next day's departure.

After dinner, we both retired to our rooms to get some rest. I took a warm shower to relax my muscles and then got ready for bed. However, sleep eluded me, and I found myself reliving the awkward encounter with Zain.

I sat up in bed, feeling restless, and decided to call my mom. Whenever I felt disturbed, talking to her always made me feel better.

I dialed her number, and she picked up quickly. "Assalamu alaikum, Ammi," I said, using the traditional Arabic greeting.

"Walekum assalam, beta," she replied, addressing me affectionately as "child." "How are you? Is everything okay?"

My brother interrupted our conversation, teasingly calling me "Dayan" (witch) and "Chudel" (a playful term for a witch-like figure).

My dad asked, "Meri princess kaisi hai? Sab thik hai na waha beta?" (How is my princess? Everything is alright there, child?)

I replied, "Bhutni" (a playful term), and my brother chimed in, "Chudel."

I jokingly responded, "Ooye kutte, kamine, bhoot, suar ki shakal ke" (a lighthearted insult), which made everyone laugh.

My dad then asked, "By the way, is everything alright? You called us at this hour, and I know it must be night there."

I reassured him, "Yeah, Abbu, everything is alright. I just missed you all, and I wanted to inform you that I'm going on a trip tomorrow with my college."

My mom exclaimed, "That's great!" and my dad added, "Yeah, good, but take care of yourself and be careful too. As per your wish, I haven't hired any guards for you, as you didn't want to reveal your identity there."

I promised, "Yeah, Dad, I'll take care of myself."

My mom reminded me, "Also, take care of Kriti too. Although I should have said this to her, not you, as she's more mature than you."

I playfully complained, "Ouch, it hurts, Mom."

My brother chimed in, "Mujhe jalan ho rahi hai" (I'm feeling jealous), and I teased him, "Kyu bhai?" (Why, bro?).

He complained, "First, you're not here, and now you're going on a trip, where I don't even have my own phone."

I promised, "Don't worry, brother, after your boards exam, I'll buy you a phone with my own money."

He excitedly asked, "Promiseeeee?" and I chuckled, "Yes, promise."

After chatting with my family for a while, I went downstairs, feeling thirsty. I entered the kitchen to grab a glass of water and noticed someone's shadow outside the window. I assumed it was just a stray cat or the watchman and didn't think much of it.

However, when I saw the shadow again outside my living room window, I began to feel uneasy. I went back to my room, locked the door, and tried to shake off the feeling.

But when I saw the shadow again outside my balcony, I felt a chill run down my spine. I cautiously approached the balcony door, unlocked it, and slipped outside. However, when I looked around, there was no one there.

I went back inside, wondering if I had just imagined the whole thing. But then I heard a faint noise, like someone had thrown a stone at my balcony door. I rushed back outside and found a small box on my swing.

I grabbed the box, went back inside, and opened it. What I found inside left me shocked, my hands shaking, and my body frozen in fear. My eyes widened as I stared at the contents of the box, my mind racing with questions and fears.
