402 Helping an unlucky student
In the letter, two-thirds of its content asked if Lilith was being mistreated in any way. Furthermore, her father wrote a couple of words with the initial letter in capital.
After reading each unnecessarily capital letter and easy to figure out that it was a code, it read, âWrite in code if being watched.â
Vincent and Kazumi assumed Leonis mentioned something Lilith was too embarrassed to say. Both decided not to ask any further.
Later, after writing a reply and requesting Sofy to come for them in early Sunday morning, Vincent and Lilith left the mailroom.
âWhy are you here, you fat waste of space?â A female student shouted.
Vincent frowned and turned his head. On their side were an overweight male student and four female students wearing much makeup on their faces.
[Itâs the guy Beatrix had harassed to stop his malicious intent.]
-I thought I had to slap someone for a second.-
âI... I am sorry... I am not following you... I want to receive my mail...â The male student said nervously.
.....
âDonât lie to us. You remained alone during the selection so that after the time ended, the teacher would force us to have you in our team.â One of the four said with a frown on her face.
âBut... no one joined because you had already made a team of four...â He replied.
âThat is inconsequential. However, to whom other than your mother are you here for fatty? I heard how your mother is your only family, and the two of you are so poor that you donât even have a servant.â Another of the four mocked.
[Vincent, why do I feel like they are bulling him too much and for no reason. It started from making him a stalker, then confronting him, and now bullying him.]

âThat surname. He is the Wittwoll person, the old man in the mailroom mentioned. â Vincent said.
âOhh, the one who shook a workerâs hand even if he isnât a noble?â Lilith remembered after knowing quite well how stupidly arrogant most of the young nobles were.
Before her marriage to Demel Blackheart, the young Lilith met a lot of arrogant young noble ladies whenever she was invited to a tea meeting between the young generation of noble ladies. As Lilith was one of the top beauties in the kingdom, many hated or mocked Lilith behind her back.
[Should we try to help, or should we leave him be? We donât know what actually happened between them for the situation to escalate this much.]
âYou are fat, so you donât need to eat much. How about giving us some of your food to show us how sincere your words are?â One of the four decided to start extorting the supplies the academy gives each week all of a sudden.
Lilith tugged Vincentâs hand. âCan we help him? I feel ashamed those four snakes are women like me... â Lilith was angry, yet she wasnât confident to help anyone in her situation. Asking Vincent to intervene already made her heart race rapidly to the point of nearly becoming harder to breathe.
âOkay.â Vincent let go of Lilithâs hand. âBut you stay here.â
Vincent didnât wait for Lilithâs response. He went over to the commotion and placed his arm around Eliasâs shoulder.
âHowâs it going, my friend? I see you found yourself some chicks.â Vincent said in an over-friendly way. He looked at the four female students and winked at them. âAre you cuties in my friendâs team?â
Lilith felt a pang in her heart when she saw Vincent flirting with other women. A small flame of irritation was lit in her anxious heart.
âAre you single... wait! Those unique eyes and the lion head emblem! Are you that commoner that married that Lionheart...â
âYes.â Vincent interrupted.
âIs there a problem with a man desiring the attention of many women? So, are you cuties interested in my friend over here, or do you feel like...â Vincent revealed a light menacing glare and continued, âDo you want to mistreat him because he isnât a person you desired?â
âYou!...â
âYes, I am me.â Vincent interrupted again.
The four female students became irritated, yet the commotion had escalated too much, and dozens of gazes were looking at them. *Humph!* The four female students nodded at each other and left to the mailroom.
âVincent, I hope they donât return. â Lilith said after she approached. On her face was a frown.
âYeah, I hope so too, or I might have to slap someone.â Vincent removed his arm from Eliasâs shoulder and approached Lilith. He smiled and continued, âAre you feeling a little envious that I called those four with unprofessional makeup on their faces cuties? Hehehe.â
âN... no...â Lilith blushed while shyly looking down. Later, she realized how Vincent praised her makeup skills while teasing her.
Elias bowed and thanked Vincent for helping him.
âNo one wanted to stand up for me, but I want to live a peaceful life... so I have to keep what happens a secret, or they will treat me worse...â Elias explained how he didnât report his mistreatment nor tried to seek help.
*Sigh* âAnd then what will you do? Do you know about the infamous Nick? He stood up for what he believed was right, and now he is hated by everyone. There is no right path Elias. Only you will have to make the path you chose right for you.â Vincent went beside Lilith after he finished the speech.
He pulled Lilith by her waist and continued, âI chose to marry this cute wife. Now I am called a commoner that married into nobility. But so what? I am living a happy life.â
[Are you still the same old Vincent? I feel like you became one of those life gurus. And look, Lilith is blushing like a bulb again, haha.]
âVincent Lionheart, is it? Thank you. â Elias bowed again. He looked at the blushing Lilith and continued, âI should go to send a letter. I will not take any more of your affectionate time.â
Elias swiftly left while not even questioning how Vincent knew his name.
A tiny flame of change lit in his resolve after Elias saw Vincent face any consequences head-on without a hint of a doubt if he was going to succeed or fail.
Vincent would one day find out how this fateful encounter changed Eliasâs life for the better.
Later, Vincent and Lilith went to the garden with many couples sitting next to each other and beautiful scenery of flowers and artistically trimmed bushes.
Vincent asked if Lilith wanted to find a place to sit, but her previous irritation waned, and the courage to face people disappeared when many students glanced at them sometimes. She requested to go back.
Vincent didnât want to force Lilith to adapt to society, so the two of them left. Soon, they arrived on the island, but Lupa nor Vivid were in sight. The ground was patched up as well.
Vincent and Lilith went to the side of the mansion to check if Ester and Iris were still meditating, but the cushions and light gemstones were gone. After deciding to check the garden, Iris and Lupa planting something entered their sight.
âHehe, my mate is here. â Lupa said. She got up and rushed inside to prepare a bath for her. She slyly winked at Vincent with a wide grin on her unusually dirty face. Her appearance resembled that of a person who was recently buried underground.
âIris, did you plant anything new today?â Vincent curiously asked.
âYes! Sister Lupa gave me her tomato, so I turned it into a seed, hehe.â Iris looked at Vincent and revealed a beaming smile.
However, her smile didnât last long. Iris looked at the ground, and her smile disappeared while continuing, âSister Lupa said it was a present, but sister Ester made me uncomfortable with her frown.â
âHaha.â Vincent laughed and approached Iris. He gave her a head pat and continued, âEster was a little angry because Lupa only wants to eat meat.â
âI will not take it next time.â Iris stood up, and determination was painted on her face. âVegetables are delicious too!â
[Looks like Lupa isnât going to like her next meal, hehe.]
Later, Vincent, Iris, and Lilith went back to their bedroom, where they found Ester lecturing Lupa and Plow. The culprits were being lectured after they made footsteps with dirt on the floor.
*Sigh* Vincent facepalmed and understood how this was partially his fault. He decided to wash first and clean the mansionâs floor leading to their bedroom later. Afterward, they ate in the kitchen.
Vincent went to train next to Zero, gave it some of his blood, and later went to sleep.
*Day 88 â 05 September â Friday*
The last day with lessons arrived. Vincent did his morning routine and went to the morning lesson.
The lesson was like yesterday. Nineteen students trained their intent while Vincent practiced the same CQC foundation moves with Biro, ordering when to use and stop channeling Energy Flow.
Vincent was getting tired of the monotone repetitive training, but Biro added another instruction to the mix at the last hour of the lesson. He asked to do a quick sidestep.
Now Vincent had to keep doing a jab combo while using Energy Flow or doing a side step at any moment. It kept him on his toes.
After the lesson ended, Vincent dropped to the ground. He was exhausted. Shortly, Ton approached, extended his hand, and a thin thread fell on Vincent.
