Chapter 1

Preface

A Visitor From The Nile

This is a story based half in truths and half in legends, as is the case with much of Egypt. The Egyptian's obsession with the the afterlife and eternity is reflected in their architecture and burial rituals. It is carved deep into the stones of their temples. Their gods both watch over and walked among the people as rulers. To this day, many structures still stand, and the Pharaohs of the bygone civilization still capture the imagination of people across the world.

"Egypt is not a country we live in, but a country that lives within us."

- Pope Shenouda III

Sometime in the year 1303 BCE, a son is born to Pharaoh Seti I and Queen Tuya. He will become one of Egypt's greatest rulers, warriors, and builders. His reign will last nearly 67 years leaving behind a legacy that will last more than 3,000 years. Many will try to emulate his success, but none will surpass him.

All this unknown to the Queen as she holds her son. She rocks him in her arms and places a kiss on his forehead.

"Sleep my little one, for you will have little time to do so in the years to come."
