The warm, familiar scent of freshly baked bread greeted Fourth as he stepped through the front door of his home.
The muffled sounds of chaos reached his ears almost immediatelyâraised voices, the clatter of furniture, and the unmistakable sound of two people bickering like children.
That's mine, Phi Satang ! Phuwin's voice rang out, sharp and indignant.
You snooze, you lose, Phuwin ! Satang shot back, his voice laced with smugness.
Fourth sighed, already guessing the cause of the commotion. As he rounded the corner into the living room, the scene unfolded just as he expected.
Phuwin and Satang were locked in a tug-of-war over a single piece of cream bread, each gripping an end like it was the most precious treasure in the world.
Meanwhile, their eldest brother, Mark, sat at the dining table with his laptop open, clearly in the middle of an online meeting.
His face was a mask of forced composure as he struggled to maintain professionalism while his brothers battled in the background.
Could you two please act your age for once ? Mark muttered, his voice tight as he muted his microphone for a second to shoot them a glare. I'm in a meeting for god sake !
Phuwin ignored him, his grip tightening on the bread. Let go, Phi Satang ! You already had one!
So what ? I'm still hungry ! Satang retorted, yanking harder.
Fourth leaned against the doorframe, watching the chaos unfold with mild amusement.
Their parents, were off traveling abroad, leaving the brothers to fend for themselves.
It wasn't unusual for things to descend into playful mayhem without their calming presence.
Sometimes. Fourth muttered under his breath with a dramatic sigh . Being the youngest in this household feels like a full-time job.
With a deep breath, he mentally prepared himself, then strode right into the middle of the fight.
In one swift, decisive move, he snatched the contested piece of cream bread from both Phuwin and Satang's grasp, popped it into his mouth, and began chewing with exaggerated satisfaction.
The room fell into stunned silence.
Phuwin and Satang froze mid-tug, still holding onto the empty air where the bread had been. Their eyes slowly turned to Fourth, blank with disbelief.
You... Phuwin finally sputtered, blinking.
Did you justâ? Satang's voice was incredulous, as if he couldn't believe what he'd witnessed.
Fourth finished the last bite with a grin, brushing his hands together theatrically. Delicious. Thanks for the snack, guys.
Phuwin's mouth opened and closed, searching for words. Iâheâ
Satang crossed his arms, giving Fourth a blank stare before finally muttering. You're dead to me.
Mark, who had clearly been trying not to laugh, finally broke, covering his mouth to stifle a chuckle.
Serves you right. He muttered, turning back to his meeting.
Fourth shrugged, looking between his two frozen brothers. What ? I saved you both from further embarrassment. You're welcome.
Phuwin groaned, running a hand through his hair. You're the worst.
Correction. Fourth said with a wink. I'm the best.
The room dissolved into laughter, even Satang begrudgingly letting out a chuckle. As chaotic as it was, this was home, and Fourth wouldn't have it any other way.
The sun was high, casting a golden glow over the campus as Fourth and Gia lounged at a table in the canteen, enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of their free lecture.
Sky and Nani sat across from them, sharing animated stories, while Phuwin, recently introduced to the duo, watched the lively exchange with amused curiosity.
So, Phuwin. Sky began, grinning as he leaned forward. Do you share Fourth's talent for trouble, or are you the responsible one ?
Phuwin smirked, glancing at Fourth. Responsible, obviously. Someone has to keep him in check.
Fourth scoffed. Oh, please. If anything, I keep you from being too serious.
Before the banter could continue, a sudden commotion rippled through the canteen. Voices rose in excited exclamations, squeals, and surprised gasps.
A group of students nearby craned their necks, and others stood up, their attention riveted on something outside.
Gia tilted her head, curiosity sparkling in her eyes. What's going on ?
Sky shrugged, but even Nani was already halfway out of his seat, peering toward the source of the excitement. Sounds like someone famous just showed up.
Unable to contain her curiosity, Gia stood and gestured for the others to follow. Let's go check it out.
Fourth, always up for a bit of intrigue, grinned and jumped to his feet. Lead the way.
Together, the group made their way across the canteen and into the open courtyard, where a small crowd had gathered in the middle of the campus compound.
The murmurs of excitement grew louder as they pushed through the throng, finally getting a clear view of the cause of the stir.
There, standing tall and broad-shouldered, with a commanding presence and unmistakable confidence, was a man approximately 6'2".
His back was to them, but the well-built frame and the way he held himself exuded an effortless charisma. No doubt , he would be a pure-blood alpha.
The whispers intensified, and Fourth could hear snippets of admirationâ"Who is he ?" "He's so tall!" "Is he a celebrity ?"
When the man finally turned around, revealing a strikingly handsome face with sharp features and an easy smile, Fourth and Phuwin both gasped in unison, their eyes wide with recognition.
Mingyu ? Fourth blurted out, his voice a mix of surprise and joy.
Without a moment's hesitation, Fourth darted forward and launched himself at the man, wrapping his arms tightly around him. Phi Mingyu ! What are you doing here ?
Mingyu chuckled warmly, the deep, familiar sound filling the air as he caught Fourth with ease, hugging him back with equal enthusiasm.
Hey, little troublemaker. He teased. Didn't expect to see me, did you ?
Phuwin, though more composed, couldn't hide his smile as he approached, shaking his head in disbelief. Phi , you didn't tell us you were coming.
Mingyu grinned, releasing Fourth but keeping a hand on his shoulder. Wanted to surprise you.
Meanwhile, Gia, Sky, and Nani exchanged bewildered glances.
Sky raised an eyebrow, looking between the three with confusion. Uh, care to explain ?
Fourth turned, still beaming, and gestured to Mingyu. Meet Phi Mingyu, our elder cousin from Korea. He's basically a walking legend.
Nani blinked, wide-eyed. Wait, this is the Mingyu you always talk about ?
Gia tilted her head, a smile playing on her lips. You didn't mention he was a giant.
Mingyu laughed, his eyes twinkling. I get that a lot.
Sky crossed his arms, pretending to pout. Why don't I have cool cousins like this ?
Fourth shot him a smug grin. Because fate loves me more.
As the crowd around them continued to buzz with curiosity, Mingyu leaned in slightly, lowering his voice for their small group. So, who's up for a proper reunion adventure ?
Fourth, still grinning, threw an arm around Mingyu. Oh, you have no idea how much we've missed you.
