II. Chapter 4

Breaking out

"We need to talk," the long robes dramatically gliding around Aki when he swept in.

"Ah..yes? Take a seat?"

...

"I just had a lovely trip outside with my darling husband," Aki said, putting a leg over the other.

His elbows rested on the hand rests and the fingers laced together infront of him.

"Ah, did you now?" Aki was observing the minute changes on Zeke's face.

He only seemed confused and mildly annoyed, probably since of the interruption with seemingly important documents laid infront that he kept shooting glances at.

"And he did something very...bizarre.. "

"What, did he kiss you or something?" Zeke asked, nonchalant, moving to stack the papers together.

Aki prevented speaking, letting the silence stew. Zeke glanced up and saw a single eyebrow rise, slowly.

"OH my gods! He did, didn't he?" Zeke's eyes widened, documents completely forgotten.

"I'm going to kill him!" He cursed under his breath.

Aki raised his chin, expressionlessly staring.

"He he he" Zeke gave an awkward laugh.

'Please don't kill me?'

"I got my answer, thank you for your time," Aki rose to his feet.

He whirled around without another word, leaving behind a dumbfounded general.

"OH, I almost forgot," he said, looking over his shoulder,

"You might want to check on your...whatever he is, I'm afraid our joyous morning might have, escalated a bit."

The doors banged shut and Zeke sat there, frozen.

Was it just him? Or did the room suddenly got cold?

"Shit!" He cursed, jumping to his feet.

"Please don't be dead Yeran," he muttered under his breath, racing out.

...

"Zeke!" Yeran waved from where he was seated on an infirmary bed.

The room was empty, physicians probably chased away by Yeran.

He sounded w...ay too joyous for someone who looked almost as pale as a ghost.

"OH good, you are still alive," Zeke sighed.

"He held my hand Zeke,"

"Your wrist, is broken," Zeke corrected, checking him over.

"Small details," Yeran shooed him off.

"And he pinned me down and straddled me, our faces were this close,"

He raised his hands as if to demonstrate, only to let it fall with a pained gasp.

"Ow!"

"He pinned you down alright, with a...what I'm assuming is a dagger!"  Zeke added, staring at the shirt drenched in blood.

'What is this idiot doing, he's going to literally turn into a ghost at the rate he's losing blood.'

"Details, details," Yeran grinned. Too fucking pleased for someone in clothes soaked with blood.

"Where are the physicians you psycho?"

"Zeke, I think I'm in love," The lovesick smile Yeran gave was creeping him out.

"You have been saying that for the past three years Yeran, spare me, please,"

A loud clash echoes around the room, pulling both their attention.

"What?...Did I.. did I miss something?" Ruth stood there, gawking like a fish out of water.

"OH, ah, yh, I forgot I didn't tell you," Yeran used his good hand to scratch his chin. A nervous gesture he had been trying hard to discard of.

"If you are looking for a threesome, don't try," Ruth crouched down to retrieve the medical chest he had dropped.

Zeke chocked on air.

"What?! No! Heaven's no!"

"Don't worry, this is not the first time someone asked that from my brother, believe it or not, it's honestly disturbing how many there were," Ruth shuddered visibly.

"So, no, I'm not going to like, kill you or something." He said, digging through a cabinet nearby.

"Not unless he asks me to, at least," he added, almost as an afterthought.

"But then again, he doesn't actually need me to do his killing."

Zeke and Yeran shared a look.

'Holy shit!'

"Now, let's deal with your shoulder first, the wrist can wait, we don't want you to die of blood loss of all things, do we," Ruth stood, holding a tray full of bandages.

He pulled a dagger out of his sleeve.

Zeke narrowed his eyes at the said sleeve, 'how did he...?'

"We don't really, have a relationship? Like, at all, we're just best friends." Yeran explained hurriedly, staring at the dagger.

'Once bitten, twice shy.'

But Ruth only used the dagger to slice open Yeran's shirt.

"So you were having a fake relationship..., just because? Ruth asked, dabbing at the wound with a wet towel.

"Ow! Ow! Ow! didn’t you said you weren't mad?" Yeran exclaimed, trying to shy away from Ruth's grip.

"Because

A. he's as straight as a rainbow and his parents wanted him to marry a girl. And

B. he had been in love with your brother for the past three years."

Zeke listed out, completely ignoring him.

"Huh!" Ruth poured an antiseptic over Yeran's shoulder.

"HOLY MOTHER!, is this revange for kissing your brother? Are you trying to send me to death early?! Is that hell fire?" Yeran cried out.

"You kissed him?" Ruth gaped at him.

"Well, that at least explains why you are a bit worse to wear." He speculated.

"Ah, no, it was because he thought I was cheating." Yeran said with a sheepish smile.

"You kissed him without telling him that you were in fact, not in a relationship? Have you gone tired of living?"

"In my defense, I was wasted,"

Zeke sighed.

"Of course you were."

"There, you will live," Ruth finished off with the bandages.

"Thankfully Aki's knives are sharp, you didn't need stitches."

"I don't think the word Thankfully should come together with the words 'knives are sharp'?" Zeke asked, doubtfully.

"It could have ended up ripping though flesh, but since it was sharp, they were only sliced, almost surgical. You will heal faster," Ruth explained, washing blood off his hands.

"He he" Yeran laughed, awkwardly.

"Let's see your arm now,"

...

"Why did you kicked out the physicians?" Zeke asked, on the way back.

"I couldn't exactly say I was attacked by my own husband, could I?"

"You could have just said it was bandits?"

Yeran turned to stare at him.

"If I said I didn't remembered that at that time, what would you do?"

Zeke sighed for the nth time that day.

"I was dying Zeke, dying! And I didn't even got a kiss from him yet, I was panicking!" Yeran gestured around with his right hand, the left in a sling.

"Didn't a kiss got you into this situation in the first place?" Zeke gave him an unimpressed glare.

"That doesn't count, I was drunk and he didn't kiss me back," Yeran pouted.

"With the scale you are going, the chance of getting a kiss from him is around a negative ten," Zeke rolled his eyes.

"NooOoooOoooo...." Yeran wailed.

"Did you hear that? That's my heart, on the floor!"

'Gods give me patience' Zeke prayed.

...
