Chapter 1.14

"JunQing..I..I can explain myself if you would just put me down!!"

FeiNan wriggled and shouted at the other in exasperation. His arms flailed and his legs kicked, too bad the arm wrapped around his waist was sturdier than ever.

This ass just embaressed me infront of the Female Lead!! And now has the audacity to ignore me?!

Growling, FeiNan had enough of this game, twisting his waist so he could see the side profile of the other, his right hand flew toward JunQing's cheek.

Pah!

Five fingers and a palm radiated the colour red as time temporarily came to a stand still. JunQing's face was pushed to the side with the force, but he did nit move to look back at FeiNan.

The wind blew lightly, lightning struck between their bodies as JunQing now slowly twisted his head to glare at FeiNan.

The overwhelming aura that seeped through his every pore intimidated FeiNan. He licked his dry lips quickly but refused to admit defeat.

After awhile, JunQing clenched his teeth and loosened his arm, letting the irritated FeiNan slip out of his grasp and onto the grass patch.

As the handprint got more and more saturated, JunQing glared at the other, spitting out,

"I guess your important mission is done?"

FeiNan who was smoothening down his robes whilst picking himself up, tilted his head in pure confusion,

"What do you mean?"

"Tch, didn't you come here to have a little time with that girl? What was her name? TingXuan?"

Protaganist that is your future wife!!

FeiNan choked on his spit and sputtered out,

"JunQing are you crazy?! Since when have I become that sort of man in your eyes?"

The other held his silence, demanding an explanation for what transpired,

"Look JunQing, it was a coincidence..there's nothing going on. And are you stupid? If i wanted to mess around why would I bring you along?"

This makes me sound like such a flirt....

JunQing's eyes stilled, what the other said made sense, he looked FeiNan's face to see if there was any trace of nervousness. But all he could see was a mixture of confusion and indignance.

"I..see...than...why did you give her that hairpin as a gift?"

"It's merely a repayment for the herbs she gave me, I , Peh FeiNan, hate oweing debts."

JunQing hummed in response, his eyes travelled to the side, unwilling to meet the eyes of the other.

"If this is cleared up, I now wish to really finish what I came here to do."

FeiNan hurrumped softly and whispered to the system,

"System, why didn't you tell me about this sooner?"

"Host...this event never happened in the original novel, my guess is that Host messed up the key plot and thus the Rules of the world came up with a new way to get the Leads better aqquainted..."

FeiNan massaged between his brows and sighed, the world can truely go jump off a building and die...

On the other hand, JunQing still silently pondered, he did not want to be inferior to TingXuan...the blue hairpin, even if it is for girls, he still wants it...

He would not say this things out loud though, his ego would not allow him to.

"Aiya...whatever let's just find what we really came here for.."

FeiNan rolled his eyes and looked at the trees around them, trying his best to try to navigate his way around.

"System how far are we from the weapon?"

"Calibrating..Host the weapon is close by...System thinks that the Protaganist's Halo has driven the smaller monsters away...but be careful when approaching.."

FeiNan closed his eyes and sighed, this trip was really more than its worth, he really just wants to give up and leave.

But his shoulders perked up, the last words of his mother echoed in his mind,

"Take care of JunQing for me."

JunQing stared at the retreating figure of the other, if he looks closely he could see an aura of dread and disappointment.

Unsure of what to do, he sped up to follow the young man from behind,

Should I apologise? What do I say?

"FeiNan just now it wa-"

"Tsk be quiet!"

FeiNan lower his body into a conbat stance, his hand reaching out towards his blade while the other stopped JunQing from coming any closer.

They were now infront of a large gray cave, vegetation clearly did not grow close to it, in fact it looked like anything which has life tend to avoid the perimeter around it.

Something was in there, FeiNan was sure of it. It may be a monster, a demon or some other intangible force. He was not willing to take risks especially considering that JunQing has not activated his Protaganist skills.

(A/N:He means active skills like really good combat skills, not the passive skills like driving away mob monsters, just clarifying :D)

"JunQing stay here, I'll check what's inside."

JunQing's face darken,

Again drawing this line between us, am I not strong enough?

On the other hand, FeiNan did not see the his changing expression, just focused on the opening ahead and walked in himself .

Taking slow steps into the cave, a foreboding feeling creeped up his spine, giving numbing tingles. Biting his bottom lip he continued onwards, trying to calm his beating heart down.

"It's ok...I'm fine..."

He continuously whispered to himself as the cave got darker and darker,

"System how long more!"

"Host, please persevere!"

F*ck me.. This is scary!!

He cursed to himself and gulped down the saliva pooling in his mouth.

Trying his best to look far ahead, he spots a lone sword fixed into unusually smooth dome shaped rock, a very King Arthur-esque setting. There was a ray of light breaking through the top of the cave, basking the blade in all its glory. It shone bright gold as the body shifted colours in the sunlight.

"Host Host!! It's the sword!"

"Oh really? I didn't know."

"QAQ...Host.."

FeiNan inched closer to the sword, vegatation that had once avoided the area now condensed around the blade, really making it stand out in this dull place.

Surprisingly, nothing came out to attack him, he soon was within a hands length from the sword. He reached out and took hold of the hilt, but a sudden jolt of electricity and a burning sensation pierced his body.

He yelped, drawing his scalded hand back, a bright red imprint had seared itself into his palms.

Suddenly while he was inspecting the cause of this discrepency, the dome shape rock beneath him began to tremble. First it was light vibrations then large tremors, the rocks from the ceiling began to fall, pelting him mercilessly.

It began to unearth itself, sliding to a more vertical position. Unable to keep his footing, FeiNan immediately slipped off and tumbled onto the ground unceremoniously.

"What?!"

He shook his head and picked hinself up. He was going to interogate the System later.

Now the object finally unearthed itself comoletely, it revealed a shape of a Kappa, with an ugly bowl hairstyle and a shell on its back.

"FeiNan!"

Right when he was still observing the rudely awoken monster, JunQing practically flew to his side, inspecting his light scrapes.

"I told you to stay outside!"

If you die what am I to do?

FeiNan shoved him off and faced the angry kappa. A series of hand gestures were performed and HeiYe flew to his eye level, launching itself into the monster's kneecap.

Since JunQing was here he needed to ensure no harm befalls him, so the first move should be crippling this being.

HeiAn imbedded himself into the intended target, and it let out a howl of pain, using its long nails to quickly claw at the thin blade, ripping its knee apart in the process.

But it seemed to have realised something, it looked straight at FeiNan and angrily shot out a water jet. Did I say water jet? Well it was not. Whatever this liquid touches erroded into a sickly smelling liquid akin to sulfur.

JunQing saw this and picked FeiNan up by the back of his neck and jumped to the other side of the cave.

While the kappa was peeved and still howling over the pain at its leg, FeiNan broke away from the other and motioned for his blade to come back.

The cave interior began to cave in on itself, large chunks of the wall fell on the ground and broke into little pieces. If he does not finish this quickly, they will be buried will this monster.

His eyes swirlled and stopped at the kappa's shell, a lightbulb lighted up, he just needed the sword.

Raising his two fingers up to chest level, he stepped on his blade and shakily levitated from the ground.

Leaning forward slightly, the blade immediately shot forward, the sensitivity on this thing was through the roof,

"Stop! FeiNan!!"

JunQing watched in horror as his friend zipped past the moving claws of the beast, its eyes leaked liquid hatred as it tried to smack FeiNan out the air.

Because of its cumbersome body, the kappa tumbled around, swatting at FeiNan like he was akin to a pesky mosquito. The cave began to fall apart at a faster rate.

The kappa narrowed its grey eyes, now this pesky mosquito has moved towards its back, more importantly its precious shell.

FeiNan stared at the hilt of the sword, for a split second remembering the unimaginable pain that it had caused him not too long ago.

His heart steeled as the world moved in slow motion, if he does not take this chance to pull the sword out now, he cannot ensure he would have another chance like this.

Just as the kappa twisted its neck and spewed the acidic liquid from its mouth, FeiNan grabbed the handle of the sword.

If he were to describe this pain, it was like someone had just branded his hand with a scorching iron piece and then proceed to use a needle to stab countless holes into his flesh.

FeiNan bit down hard on his bottom lip, tearing it open and allowing blood to seep into his mouth, this jolted him back from his haze of pain. Using what little strength he had left, he yanked the sword from the kappa's shell, the pull back force threw him off HeiYe.

As he was falling, he gripped tightly onto the Protaganist's sword, this was his revenge ticket, this will change everything. A strange glint reflected just when his eyes slowly slipped shut.

Ignoring his trembling hands, he braced himself for a harsh impact on the ground. As his consciousness faded from his body, the pain of the fall never came, instead he fell into something warm and comfortable, just like the bed at his apartment.

He subconsciously burrowed himself into the warm embrace, trying to get as much contact as his can get. The warm supports helf him tighter, enveloping him in a sense of bliss.

Slowly he fell into a deep sleep.
