Oberoi Mansion: Dining Hall Scene

A large dining table was set with a variety of dishes in the grand hall of the Oberoi Mansion. There was a man of about 55 years of age, bearing a striking resemblance to Rudra and it was evident from his expressions that he was very angry. This man was none other than Rudra's father Sanjay Oberoi. Some time ago, there was an argument between Rudra and Sanjay due to which there is tension in the Oberoi family right now.

A woman of about forty years of age was sitting on the chair next to Sanjay and quietly shedding tears. This crying woman is Sanjay's second wife Sushma. Rajiv was sitting on the other side of Sanjay but at some distance. Rajiv is Rudra's elder brother. Rudra is about six years younger than Rajiv. The two brothers do not get along well because of Rudra's conserve behavior. Rajiv is also handsome and good looking like Rudra. Rajiv actually wanted to become an actor but due to some reasons he had to join the family business.

There was another man sitting next to Rajiv who looked to be around fifty years old. This man was Vijay Oberoi, Sanjay Oberoi's younger brother and Rudra and Rajiv's uncle. Vijay isn't  married because he liked a girl during his college days but that girl loved someone else and later got married to that person, so decided to live a solitary life. Vijay treats Rudra and Rajiv like his own children. Today,  the family had gathered for Rudra’s late mother’s death anniversary, but Rudra and his father had an argument regarding the CEO of the The Elegant brand of RS enterprise, creating a tensed atmosphere in the family later Rudra in anger, had stormed out of the gathering.

Seeing Sushma crying, Vijay makes a weird face and says "Bhaisahab, you know Rudra has worked day and night to bring the company to where it is today. We should respect his decision and let him decide what is good for his company."

Sanjay did not like seeing his dear wife crying like this. "It’s not like Sushma is asking him to hand over the company to her. She just wanted a chance to be closer to him. Was it necessary for Rudra to make such a big fuss about it?"

Vijay frowned at Sanjay's explanation and chided, "If she wants to be close to him, she’s free to do so, who's stopping her? But is it necessary to be the CEO of the biggest brand of the company for this?"

Before Sanjay could reply to Vijay's statement, Sushma spoke through her tears, "Vijay Bhaisahab, what are you trying to say? For your information, I don't have any greed. Everyone knows that Rudra has never accepted me as his mother and neither is my relationship with him so good that he will let me go to the company again and again and if we work together in the company then maybe our relationship get improved."

Rajeev, who had remained silent until now, interrupted "Why do you have to take my mother's place? You should make your own place in Rudra's heart, Build your own relationship with Rudra instead of snatching someone else's place.”

Sushma was startled by Rajeev’s words and quickly replied "No...no son, you are misunderstanding me. I don't want to replace your mother. I just..."

Anger was now visible on Rajiv's face and he got up from his chair and showed his hand to sushama to stop her. "Whatever your intentions were, I don’t care.. Just listen to me carefully, even though dad has married you but no one can take my mother's place, not even you." Rajiv turned to Sanjay and continues his statement "Dad, you already knew that today's day isn't easy for Rudra. Yet you chose to upset him further by bringing up the company and CEO thing.Will you ever understand him?"

Outside the club, Shantanu says bye to everyone and moves towards his car. While he is leaving, someone puts his hand on his shoulder and when he turns back to see the owner, he finds Rudra, blinking his eyes like an innocent child. Rudra was wearing a black three piece suit and had an expensive watch on his hand. Rudra's face was expressionless as always and it did not look like he was drunk.

Shantanu quickly bows and says hello to him but Rudra didn’t respond and kept staring at him,. Shantanu became a little uncomfortable with constant staring and steps back a bit asking, “Boss, were you at the club?”

"Hmm" Rudra gave a short reply and then moved forward and stood close to Shantanu, this time Shan noticed the strong smell of alcohol and cigarettes from Rudra. "Boss, are you drunk?" Shantanu asked Rudra with hesitation and moved a bit away from him as he doesn't like the cigarette smell.

While saying "No", Rudra's eyes squinted and his facial expressions became odd.

Shantanu said scolding himself "What’s wrong with me? I am asking a drunk person whether he is drunk or not"

Both of them were standing a little away from the club's gate, where there were not many people and neither was there much noise, only the sound of the running vehicles on the road and the sound of their horns was present.

Shantanu again gazed at Rudra and asked, "Boss, did you come with someone? Where is your driver?"

Rudra kept on staring at Shantanu as if he hadn’t heard a word. Shantanu moved forward, grabbed Rudra's shoulder then spoke with concern "What happened, tell me, who did you come with?"

Rudra blinked his eyes once and then instead of replying he grabbed Shantanu's wrist and started pulling him in a certain direction. Shantanu was surprised by this sudden action of Rudra and tried to resist him "Boss what are you doing? Where are you taking me?"

Rudra lead Shantanu to the parking lot. Shantanu tried to control his uneven breathing and asked while panting, “Boss, why have you brought me here? " Rudra with a serious face pointed his index finger towards a car  "with this "

"What?" Shantanu asked in confusion, he was still struggling for breath. Shantanu took his eyes off the car and fixed at Rudra, their eyes met for a short period.

"My car" Rudra says gesturing towards the car again .Now Shantanu understood what he meant and asked to confirm his doubt"You mean to say you came alone in this car?"

"Hmm" Rudra nodded slightly in confirmation.

On the other hand, Prem was worried because of Rudra's sudden disappearance. "Where did Rudra go now?" Prem mutters to himself. Prem even called Rudra several times but Rudra did not answer his single call. Recently Prem had come outside the club to see Rudra but when he didn't find him anywhere then he decided to go inside the room again.

Shantanu was tired of asking Rudra for his address but Rudra kept telling him the company's address again and again. "Boss, what are you doing? Don't you want to go home?" The irritation and frustration was clearly evident in Shantanu's voice.

“No…” saying this Rudra turned his face away from Shantanu like an angry child. Shantanu held his head “Where have I got myself into? Boss is not telling me his home address and Pari told me that he lives alone and doesn't have any friends. What should I do? I can't leave him here like this. What if tomorrow he remembers that I didn't help him and he fires me from the job?"

Rudra glanced at Shantanu from the corner of his eyes, Shantanu was not able to understand what to do and what not to do. Shantanu checked his watch, it was already 11. Shantanu once again looked at Rudra and thought "Already no one talks to me on the fifth floor and now if I anger the owner of the company too, then how will I be able to survive there..,"

Due to stress, Shantanu's head started spinning and he sat down on the ground. "Should I hand him over to the police? But he has not done anything wrong so this matter will go further unnecessarily. Should I leave him in an orphanage, but he isn't a kid anymore, how about an old age home?" Shantanu was thinking where he should leave Rudra.

Rudra also joined shantanu on the ground and keenly started observing passing expressions on shantanu's face.

There were cars all around and there was not much light. Even the darkness of the night was not able to hide Shantanu's tension. A little light from the streetlight was falling on Shantanu's face due to which the lines of worry on his forehead were clearly visible.

The tension in the Oberoi mansion was also not subsiding. After listening to Rajiv, Sanjay's face fills with guilt for a moment but then he puts a stern expression on his face and spoke sternly "Have I ever denied him for anything? Have I ever stopped him from achieving anything he wanted? I made sure he lacked nothing! I have given him best life anyone can give a child."

Vijay was afraid that Rajiv and Sanjay's arguments might turn into a fight, so he intervened. "Bhai sahib you know, if Bhabhi's death has affected anyone the most, then it is Rudra. Rudra has suffered more than you and Rajiv. He was just six years old when he lost his mother and then you sent Rajeev away from him, to study abroad.You were also busy in building Oberoi cooperation. Do you have any idea how lonely he felt at that time? "

Sanjay eyed his younger brother "Vijay, do you think I don't love my son? I know I was not able to give time to Rudra That's why I remarried so that he has someone to be with him but Rudra never treated Sushma fairly." Sanjay said dejectedly.

"Dad, At that time, what Rudra needed is your love and attention, not a stepmother.  And when you got  remarried then Rudra was already tuned fourteen. Dad, eight years is too much for a child to stay alone, a lot of things can change during such period. And if you were so concerned about Rudra then he would never have left Oberoi mansion" Rajiv said angrily.

Sushma starts crying and cursing herself, "It’s all my fault. Rudra left the Oberoi mansion because of me."

Seeing Sushma crying like this, Rajiv and Vijay exchanged glances and then Vijay spoke in a serious tone, "Bhai sahib, you should leave Rudra's business to him." Vijay continued speaking while looking at Sushma. "And when you know that Rudra doesn't like you then you should maintain a distance from him otherwise instead of building your relationship it will get worse. Relationships can't be built forcefully."

Sushma wipes her tears and then says softly, "I will take care."
