Chapter 108
I Am The Luna
30 A Dealâs Cost or I Am The Luna Chapter 108 By Moonlight Muse
SEBASTIAN.
Every day that passes is excruciating. From the moment I left her, turning my back on her, I have been
unable to sleep knowing that I betrayed her once again.
How does one recover from such pain? I know this time I wonât have another chance because no one
deserves more than a secondâ¦
Iâve not only broken her trust, but Iâve also shattered it beyond repair.
But despite it all, I know Iâve made the right decision and donât regret it.
Being on the outside makes me realise that there is more danger around Zaia, and I will find a way to
let Valerie know.
There is someone extremely close to us who is watching everything. I myself have seen the footage of
secret cameras within the pack seeing Zaia channel her pain into hatred and rage.
Itâs chilling to know that there were always cameras all over my pack grounds without my knowledgeâ¦
someone who has been able to put those cameras everywhere without being caught.
Which makes it obvious thereâs a traitor amongst them, one who is in a place of power.
What irks me is thereâs a camera inside my safe house. 1
A place that only a select few have entered⦠but something that means the enemy is close to us. 2
I hate that my mind flits between Jai, Justin and Atticus⦠I know itâs not Valerie, but I also hate that I
am not trusting even my own friend. 5
Without her by my side, itâs hard. Fucking living is hard and trying to focus on what I need to doâ¦
I want to warn them, but who can I truly trust?
Who was the one who put the cameras there?
They are the reason the Sable has always known our location from the very beginning. There are
several areas of the pack that are also equipped with voice recorders.
Like earlier, two guards were discussing the latest security regime put in place. Zaia and her team
made some smart choices but with the
Sable knowing everything, how is she to get a win if they already know so much? 1
My only relief is I shut myself out of every access to the pack before I left. When Gerard questioned it, I
told him Zaia must have pushed me out. They had wanted me to access the CCTV from within the
pack, but my biometrics and my passwords were useless.
The good thing is, sheâs the only one who can now access everything in regards to the security of the
pack.
It was a smart move and one that pissed Gerard off even more, but it also shows she no longer trusts
anyone and that fucking hurt knowing Iâm the reason that sheâs no longer able to trust anyone.
Sheâs incredibly strong and although I know that the impact of my actions upon her have hurt her, sheâs
surviving because sheâs a fighter and a true Alphaâ¦
But how much can one person take? The dark voice inside of me that eats at me surfaces once more.
If anything happens to her, Iâll-
âEat, then Gerard wants you to stay here whilst we head back⦠not sure why heâs trusting you.â Zade,
Zaiaâs twin, who I detest, says as he tosses me a sandwich box. 3
I look up at him, snapping out of my reverie and catch it. âAnd why would he want me to do that?â I ask,
cocking a brow.
âBecause thereâs that bastard here who we have held hostage. Hugh Toussaint, that bitchâs father.â
âAnd yours,â I say coldly, trying to control my anger at his insult towards Zaia that overrides the shock
that I feel inside.
Hugh. They have Hugh, why?
Heâs been a great help to Zaia, is that why?
âNo, he isnât. I donât see him as family,â he snarls.
Hugh is here⦠so thatâs why Gerard had sent us 30 miles south and I had no fucking clue as to why.
If I can free him I will, but there is no way for me to do so without risking Siaâs life.
âAnd why do we have someone who is worthless?â I ask nonchalantly.
âWell now, that ainât your business, is it? We heard that someone is coming for him. I guess he wants to
test your loyalty.â He smirks, almost challengingly.
I look back at him, unphased. âLdonât fucking have anything to prove. He knows I agreed for a reason,
and Iâll stick to my side of the deal as long as he sticks to his.â I reply coldly.
So thatâs his reasonâ¦
âWell⦠that isnât a nice thing to say, since weâre supposed to be on the same side,â
Gaultier says as he walks in.
Black hair, blue eyes, the spitting image of Gerard himself. And I hate to admit it but that would make
him my half-brother⦠2
He smirks coldly and I glare back at him, refusing to look away first. Iâm certain he was the shooter who
hurt Zaia⦠even though Gerard admitted to it, I highly doubt that. Same with the person who attacked
Valerie.
âOnly I fucking hate you both,â I say, ripping open the package.
âThe feeling is mutual,â Gaultier says, scoffing bitterly.
Zade is a dickhead, but there is something extremely unhinged about Gaultier⦠Although heâs
apparently born and raised in France, he changes his accent so efficiently itâs unnerving. Iâm sure heâs
the one who was pranking me before he even admitted to it.
Heâs now playing with the knife in his hand as if heâs extremely bored.
Of course, heâs bitter. After all, they both have to submit to the fact that I am their leader.
âWell, your turn to keep Toussaint company,â Zade says, turning away. âLetâs hope you donât feel sorry
for him.â
I donât respond.
I had planned to get the antidote and leave⦠I thought I had it all fucking figured out. Get in, get the
antidote, kill them and end this all, but Gerard was a step aheadâ¦
(FLASHBACK)
Heâs awakened.
He now sits, all dressed in a suit, as if he hadnât just pretended to be in a coma for the last few weeks.
Gaultier, his son, had snuck into the pack and given him something to keep him in a coma- like state. It
irks me how they were getting into the pack so easily⦠I still donât know who the mole is.
âWell, Sebastian, meet Gaultier, your younger. brother.â He smirks as me and the bastard exchange
looks.
Thereâs no humanity in his eyes and heâs staring at me with hatred that he doesnât try to mask.
âHe is not my brother, and you are not my father. Iâm here as you wanted, and in return, you give me
the antidote for my little girl.â I say, glaring coldly at Gerard.
This is the man who poisoned her. The urge to rip him apart consumes me, but there is nothing I can
do right now until I find that antidote.
âOf course, and you will get it, however, you have to understand that I need to watch my back too. So, if
you think you can simply take the antidote and disappear into the night, it wonât happen. I have people,
Sebastian, inside that pack, around⦠everywhere and the moment you plan to double cross me⦠they
will release a special toxin into the air.â
I donât react, waiting for him to continue. Once again, heâs trying to blackmail meâ¦
âHereâs an example.â He pulls a cloth off a large box that sits on the table beside him, and I find myself
staring at a hamster in a glass box. âThis hamster has been given the same poison that is plaguing
your poor little princessâs body⦠now if we put the toxin into the air around himâ¦â
I watch as Gaultier releases something into the glass case and instantly the hamster begins writhing
before it suddenly drops dead, making my stomach twist.
âA trigger. It will send her into cardiac arrest, and she will die.â Gerard finishes.
I stare at the Hamster whose life was ripped from him so fast, realising that he would not make this
easy for me.
âDo you understand what weâre saying?â
âOne hundred per cent,â I reply, trying to control the rage that is threatening to explode within me.
(END OF FLASHBACK)
And until then, I have to do as they wantâ¦
Theyâll be watching even if Iâll be the one with Hugh, but something tells me thereâs more to this âtestâ
than theyâre letting on and it makes.
me uneasyâ¦
I get up and follow them out of there. If someone is coming for him, then I somehow. need to make sure
they succeed in taking him.
Zaia canât lose him.
A few hours have passed, and itâs confirmed that the one approaching is none other than
Zaia and Atticus.
Her wolf is stunning, dark red, big and powerful.
She looks as deadly as she does beautifulâ¦
I have been watching Hugh through the cameras. Heâs been hurt, but heâs coping well enough. He is a
strong Alpha, but knowing that
Zade was mainly responsible for his injuries was sickening. He is his son.
âIâll go give him food.â I stand up, glancing at the guard.
He lowers his head to me but doesnât seem bothered.
âWhy? Heâll be dead soon enough. I mean, we have intruders approaching this place.â
Gaultierâs voice comes.
âI am certain they wonât be able to get in, besides why else have fucking food here for him?
I reply coldly.
âSuch a little confidence when it comes to your womanâ¦â he chuckles, antagonising me.
Iâm sure she can, but I donât want them to be prepared. I grab the food tray that contains half a
sandwich, an onion and something else that I canât even make out and motion for the guard to open the
door.
He keys in a code, and I hear the click of the lock opening and pull open the door.
Hugh is bound to a chair in chains and his head is hanging to the right, although I can tell heâs
exhausted, heâs refusing to let his head bow.
Our eyes meet and for a moment thereâs a spark of life in his eyes, but it is gone instantly when he
sees the food tray in my hand. Confusion changes to realisation, then understanding, then anger and I
finally find myself looking into the eyes of the Hugh Toussaint that I know.
âYou⦠traitor.â He snarls, âYou hurt her, havenât you!â
âIâd keep it down if I were you,â I reply quietly.â
Here eat.â
I walk over and place the plastic tray on the table and remove the cover.
âWhy did you do this? She trusted you!â He snarls.
I donât respond knowing we are being watched, but at the same time, Iâwish I can tell him that itâs
fucking killing me to do so. What fool wouldnât want her in their arms? I was meant to protect her,
cherish her and keep her safe, but I fucking didnât. I couldnât.
I unlock one of his hands, and he grabs onto my sleeve.
âAnswer me, King!â
But I pull free. âEat. You donât have much time. before I cuff you again.â I say about to pocket. the key
but instead toss it on the far end of the table. A place he canât reach, but if someone bursts into hereâ¦
they canâ¦
I hope you have backup Zaiaâ¦
Zade had seen her in action at the Rogue Pack and they were far more prepared this time.
âI was beginning to accept you! I thought your had changed!â He snarls.
âThatâs a shame,â I say quietly.
A deafening bang and the ground trembling makes me turn.
âZaia Toussaint has just entered⦠I hope you are ready to prove exactly what side you are on.â
Gaultierâs voice comes into my mind.
My eyes blaze as I turn, hearing the sound of someone approaching fast, my own heart is racing
knowing that sheâs so closeâ¦.
I hear a menacing growl that rings through this place.
Zaia⦠Sheâs here.
