Chapter 401
I Am The Luna
Chapter 0401
Doctor Malcolm stands beside the bed, trying to calm her. The nurse holds some tissue out to her, but
sheâs simply shaking her head, wiping her tears away with her hands.
âHello, Jenna,â I say with a quick glance at her name board above her bed. âIâm. Doctor Scott. Do you
mind if I take a look at you?â
âFinally!â Jenna rolls her eyes, clutching her stomach..
âIâll take over Doctor Malcolm, thank you,â I add with a smile. He nods before leaving, and I look at the
nurse. âHave her vitals been done?â I ask.
The nurse shakes her head in despair, clearly the patient wasnât complying. âPlease lie down. Iâll have a
feel of your stomach.â I say, going over to the sink and washing my hands before I put on some latex
gloves. I can feel her watching me and look at her through the mirror. A sudden unease fills me, sheâs
observing me extremely intently and oddly calm, not like someone in painâ¦
I turn back to her, and sheâs looking away now. I walk back to the bed and ask her to lie down. She
complies and lies down, lifting her top. âIf it hurts at any point, let me know,â I instruct as I start to probe
around her stomach, trying to feel if thereâs any tenderness anywhere.
I hide my frown, not once feeling any tenderness or hardness to her stomach. Her eyes are now trained
on my badge. A mark that I am a werewolfâ¦
âYour stomach doesnât feel sore or anything, but weâll send you for a scan just in case,â I say, stepping
back and removing my gloves.
âOh, sure. Thanks,â she answers.
âNurse, can you please check her vitals and give her some painkillers for now?â I ask as I pick up her
file and skim through it, making a note of her name, date of birth, and trying to memorise her medical
number.
Thereâs something off about her and although usually Iâd brush it off since we come across all kinds of
patients, I canât be careless, not with everything going
1. on.
She obeys this time, letting the nurse do her checks, and I excuse myself and go over to the desk.
âCan you send me all medical records on patient room 7? I just need to check her history.â I ask the
woman at the desk.
She nods and I take my tablet out, pulling up the files on my screen. Nothing out

that, there have been a few things over the past few years. Sheâs had appendicitis, her appendix
removed, food poisoningâ¦
I sigh inwardly. Iâm really becoming too paranoidâ¦
The rest of the day passes in a blur, and Iâm looking forward to getting a break and going home.
âTonight, little mate, tonight Iâm yours.â
My heart skips a beat at his words, and I place a hand on my stomach to calm the butterflies that are
swimming around in there.
Tonightâ¦
I glance at the time. Not long nowâ¦
I take my phone out, about to message him that Iâll be done in half an hour only to see his message
that heâll be here in about an hour, which was sent to me. about forty minutes ago. I smile and text
back.
Valerie: Perfect timing. Iâll be done in half an hour.
His response comes pretty soon.
Zade: Iâll be waiting.
I slip my phone back into my pocket when Cassian walks over.
âValerie, I spoke to the board. Youâre good to work with me.â
âWow, really? They agreed?â Iâm surprised, considering Iâm new here, and that was a very fast
answer⦠Not that Iâm disappointed, I might find an answer.
He smiles slightly and nods. âYes, but be prepared to work late. The lab consumes a lot of time and we
do need to do our shifts on the wards, too.â Seeing my surprised look, he continues, âI didnât pull any
strings in case youâre thinking. that. They think you might even have an idea. There are assumptions it
might be something that maybe shifters might know of.â
