I Am The Luna

ZAIA.
âIs there anything else?â Jai asks as he grips my arm, desperate to know without losing his cool.
I look up at him, trying to sort my thoughts and emotions into words. It has been a few hours since
Sebastian was taken away; I am back at the safe house and the children are in bed.
I had barely managed to keep my head on straight, telling them I wasnât feeling well; but when they
questioned me about their father, and where he had gone, I almost thought I would break down. But I
didnât, remaining strong for them.
But now, when I am with Valerie and Jai in the living room, I am a wreck. I canât think straight and my
stomach is knotted with nerves. I feel sick and worried.
How is Sebastian doing? Due to him being my mate, I was not allowed to interfere in his confinement
or even inquire about the plans they have for his trial. What angers me is Aranâs involvement.
Thereâs just so many things I need to know. What exactly happened between Sebastian and Aran?
Surely Gerard wasnât that close to Aran for him to completely lose it and go against his own son. âI told
you everything that happened,â I say, running my hand through my hair once more. âLeave her be, Jai.
She needs a moment to think things through.â Valerie says from where she is sitting.
âI know, but we donât have time.â Jai murmurs. I know heâs trying to keep his cool, but heâs failing. The
room beeps and he groans. âSebastian is the only one who knows things about this place, and his
cryptic instructions to me arenât something I can figure out either. I think someone is approaching the
main gate.â Jai says after pressing a few buttons on the security screen before he slumps back down
onto the sofa.
I pace the room, closing my eyes, running my hand through my hair for the thousandth time. âGerard
isnât dead and the fact heâs in the hospital means we need to watch him. I know heâs behind a lot, but
for Sebastianâs sake, I hope he makes it.â I say quietly.
âAlright, so what do we have-â The doorbell rings and with the camera on the far wall I see Atticus
waiting, fifty metres or so from the house, at the outer gate.
Walking over to the screen, I key in a password and press the button on the screen. âLet him through.â
âDo you really trust him?â Jai asks. âYes, we need to work together,â I reply, returning to the seating
area. Weâll talk when heâs here.â
I bite nervously on my nails, itâs on me now⦠I need to make the right decision. I am the Alpha. âWe
have a lot to do, donât we?â Valerie says. âI wish I wasnât confined to this chair or feel so weak.â
I look at her sympathetically. She can take some steps but tires fast and I know it is upsetting her.
âPerhaps you could try shifting. I know it healed Sebastian.â I suggest. âMaybeâ¦â she says thoughtfully.
âWe can try tomorrow night?â âYou have the meeting with Annalise and Annette in the morning.â Jai
reminds me. âI know, and I have to meet Harrison in the evening.â âI donât think you should be leaving
the pack grounds until things are sorted.â He gives me a firm look.
âHeâs meeting me close to home. I just need you to hold down the fort when I am gone.â I say. Just as
the door opens and Atticus enters.
âI was told to wear a blindfold, and I came here blindly. Iâm not sure how to feel,â he remarks. âDonât
take offence by it. We do need to be careful.â I say quietly.
âI know. I was only trying to lighten the mood,â he says, as he comes over to me. âWhatâs wrong? You
sounded distraught?â
âYou need not worry.â Jai counters coldly. âPlease boys, we need to work together, not against one
another.â I remind them, turning back to Atticus, I found out the identity of the shooter.â
âOh?â Atticus asks, concerned. âYes⦠he is Aran Kingâs cousin. After the confession where he
admitted it, he kissed me and so I pushed him. He is now in critical condition in the hospital and
Sebastian took the fall for me.â I say bluntly.
Atticus cocks a brow. âYou went from revelation to scandalous and then it just went dark and somewhat
romantic?â I tilt my head, giving him a look, and Valerie chuckles.
âI never thought Iâd say this, but we need to remain positive and try to be positive. Look, Sebastian
sacrificed himself for you and to me, it makes sense that he did that. You are the vital point in the
Triquetra, and we need you out of, not in prison. Heâs a big boy. He can handle himself.â She says and
the boys nod before frowning at one another.
âSheâs right. Doctor Valerie is a wise woman. Listen to her.â Atticus says. âDoctor Scott, to you,â Jai
says pointedly. âMen.â Valerie shakes her head. âWhat were you saying, Jai, before Atticus showed
up?â
âWhat do we need to do next? I mean, now we know that Gerard was the shooter, and possibly the one
who attacked Valerie.â Jai crosses his arms.
âI donât think possibly is the right word. He looks so much like Sebastian, Jai, itâs uncanny. It was
definitely him.â I say. âBastard.â Jai growls.
âAnd he said his boys were the ones to attack Sebastian, and that includes my brother.â I sigh. âAny
luck on knowing who the other one is?â
Atticus shakes his head. âNothing. Iâve ripped apart all of Dadâs things and have shared what I know,
and all Mom knows was what Dad told her, protect you, the main point in the Triquetra.â
âRightâ¦â
âAnd you said heâs poisoned Siaâ¦â Valerie says gently. I look down. âThatâs what he said,â I say. She
frowns. âI feel like I know this⦠I .â she clutches her head as if it hurts.â
I will do some tests soon. We are going to heal her. We donât need an antidote from him, we will create
the antidote our Sia needs. I will.â
I look at her and I canât help but remember how strong she used to be, how strong she still is. âThank
you, I say, smiling softly at her, one she returns with positivity and confidence.
âDonât thank me, we need to find the cause firstâ¦.â she trails off, frowning deeply before she looks at
Jai. âI want to see my old things or visit my apartment. If itâs still mine, that is.â
âThe apartment was put back up for rent but all your items were put in boxes at your dadâs old house,â
Jai says.
âHmm⦠my friendâ¦â She rubs her temples before shaking her head. âI need to do some research⦠I
think we can all share what needs doing and take it from there?â She suggests.
âThatâs a good idea, so⦠Siaâ¦â
âIâll find a solution.â I nod and Jai nods. âI will accompany Valerie, but I am also your Beta, and I will do
anything you need me to.â
âThanks⦠Atticus⦠I need you to do a proper thorough check on my Mom⦠keep an eye on her.
Check who she talks to, who she knows and-â
âDo you really think sheâs involved?â Jai asks me, surprised. I feel guilty but I canât deny the truth.â She
has lied far too many times for me to give her the benefit of the doubt. So, Atticus, can you?â
I havenât told them about Mom cheating on Dad, but the rest they knew. âYeah, I can do that. I will keep
an eye on her, besides I have business with your fatherâs company, so Iâm in and out of that pack,â he
says with a nod. I nod, smoothing my top and take a deep breath, squaring my shoulders.
âSo, there are a few things we all need to remember. For some reason, they want Sebastian and me
apart. Two; we need to find their location and three; itâs high time I find out who Annalise talked to at
your pack Atticus, and more so, where she was gone when she pretended to be kidnapped,â I muse,
raising my finger and ticking off each one as I say them.
âOh, and one more⦠who transferred the money from my account to a foreign account?â I add. âAran
King,â Jai mutters in irritation.â He seems like a trouble causer. I still canât deal with Seb being in
prison.â
âWithout proof, we cannot confirm that, but I will question him, too. See if I can get any answers out of
him,â I sigh. I know it wonât be easy. âI have a question or two. You might know the answer.â Jai says,
now looking at Atticus.
âSure, if I can answer you, I will,â Atticus says quietly. Jai stands up and walks over to him. â Do you
have any idea how to know someone is part of a Triquetra without seeing their mark?â
âThere are a few ways. One is with the help of special search dust. A special ancient dust that
apparently comes from the moon itself, that is said to lead the path to one who has high moon
essence; meaning a strong werewolf or one that simply holds more power. But this can lead us to any
Alpha, even if not used correctly or in the wrong vicinity.â Atticus explains.
âAnd the other?â I ask. âWith the help of a seeing stone, but I donât know how well magic works
anymore and I have never come across a seeing stone or the glass of time. I donât think magic exists in
this world any longer.â
Iâm not so sureâ¦
âDo you have any of this Moon Dust?â I ask. âNo, but I once did. It was something that belonged to
Dad, and it was what I used to locate you. But I know of a few locations where we may be able to find
some. It isnât for definite, but maybe.â
âWhat are you thinking, Zaia?â Jai asks. âIf we canât find the Sable members like this, then letâs use the
blessings of our goddess to do so. Letâs use Moon, Dust.â
âGood plan,â Atticus says. âItâs worth a shot.â âYes.â Valerie nods before Jai agrees with a slow nod.
âAnd my second question.â
âGo on,â Atticus answers, watching him intently. âYou said to Zaia that when the Sublime Triquetra is
completed the Sable Triquetra will also be completed. What does that even mean?â Jai asks.
Atticus looks down before he shakes his head. âThatâs all I know,â and I know he is telling the truth.
âUnlessâ¦â I say, now frowning deeply âThereâs a piece of the puzzle weâre missing⦠perhapsâ¦â
The atmosphere in the room darkens as they all watch me, waiting for me to speak. Iâm not sure if Iâm
onto something, butâ¦
âIt can only mean that thereâs another point- another person who will complete the Sable Triquetra,
correct?â I say, my words sounding ominous to even me.
âYou mean to sayâ¦â Jai begins, and I know theyâre all following. âYes, that perhaps there arenât just two
points we need to worry about, but three.â
âAnd with their training and goals⦠They are far stronger than us, arenât they?â Valerie whispers. No
one replies, the unspoken answer hanging in the air ominouslyâ¦
Yes, yes they are.
