Chapter 12

M.H.S P.O.V ... Upper Hand, Pressure, and He Likes Me, He likes Me Not

I Dare You! / I Got You! {Completed}

Okay, I know this is a long chapter, hehehe, I got on a writing kick.

So the title is, M.H.S P.O.V ... Upper Hand, Pressure, and He Likes Me, He likes Me Not.

M.H.S stands for = Maddy, Hope, Savvy.

Yeah, I put three different Point Of Views in here, that’s kind of why it’s so long.

Oh, read authors note, I have a surprise for y’all!

EDITED!

Maddy’s P.O.V

I sat in science class with Hope and Savvy.

“Times like these, I really hate my mom.” Hope said in a low voice. Savvy and I looked at her.  “She’s all pissed at me because I went to the sleepover at your house this weekend instead of going to her house. I told her every third Friday of every month we have a sleepover.” Hope sighed dramatically, and looked at her lab sheet.

“Your mom will get over it.” I said hoping to cheer her up. Hope’s mom loved pressuring Hope and making her mad all the time.

“Hey, if she pisses you off too much, I know a guy that’ll sell me a half dozen naked mole-rats for 20 dollars.” Hope and I looked at Savvy like she was on crack.

“Naked mole-rats? What the hell would we do with them?” I asked.

“Put them in Hope’s mom’s car! It will give her a scare! I did it to my cousin Alden… man, you should have seen his face …” Savvy said with a look in her eyes. I knew she was thinking about when she had done the deed. I swear people’s fear and pain made her so happy.

“Yeah, I might not like my mom, but I’m going pass on putting naked mole-rats in her car.” Stated Hope with a chuckle.

“Can’t say I didn’t offer …” Savvy said.

“ … So … why was Vinny and Allen fighting at lunch?” I asked, cutting straight to the point, which Hope and I had been clearly avoiding. But, it was eating me up inside not knowing.

“Savvy! Go sit at your table!” Mrs. Garrett, our teacher,  called out to Savvy. Savvy reluctantly got up, and went over to where she was supposed to sit. I knew it was because she didn’t want to answer me.

“I don’t think she’s going to tell us.” Hope told me when Savvy was back in her seat. I nodded, agreeing with Hope.

“I don’t think so, either.” I started working on the lab sheet, trying to remind myself to ask Savvy later.

I walked into the next class and went to sit next to Savvy. Who was in the corner of the classroom, looking out the window.  As I sat down next to her, she asked me If I could go sit somewhere else and just please let her be.

It’s not like Savvy to ask someone to do that, I thought.

I was going to object to her, but the teacher told me to sit down. I sighed and ended up sitting in the front of the class next to a girl named Briny who loved talking about her family.  But I wasn’t paying attention.

This day had been so busy, with me telling Flora I was Troy’s girlfriend, the fight between Allen and Vinny, and not to mention Flora’s little payback on me.

Oh, yeah, after science I found out that she had told the whole school about how I was once fat. It was a lie! I was never fat! But that was because when we were in middle school, I wore a size six and not zero like her, so she thought I was fat.

But back then I believed her, and tried to lose weight. I ended up losing thirty pounds by not eating and running all the time. My mom told me I had to stop trying to lose weight because I was very malnourished.

I wouldn’t listen to her. And then of course Savvy caught on to what I was doing. She forced me to eat, and she even tied me to a chair, so I wouldn’t go running. Thanks to her, with the help of Kay and Hope of course, I stopped trying to lose weight, however, I did stop eating so much junk food and started to eat healthy. I wasn’t going to gain back those thirty pounds.

“Oh, Troy, H-h-h-hi.” When I heard Briny say that, I lost my train of thought, and looked around. Sure enough, Troy was standing next to me.

“Hey, Briny … Mind if I talk to Maddy …?” Briny nodded, but still sat there, just staring up at Troy. “Alone?” He asked. Briny gasped.

“Oh, alone … hahaha, yeah, sorry!” Briny quickly stood up and walked away. When she walked away Troy took her seat.

“What the hell do you want?” I asked Troy. He looked at me.

“What? No, ‘hey, nice to see you, Troy’? I’m offended,” he said sarcastically.

“How about this, you’ve got three seconds to spill about what you want from me and then I’ll call Savvy over here and let her show you back to your seat.” I said. “One … Troy, you may not want me to get to two because I might not get to three,” I stated.

“You wouldn’t.” Troy challenged. I raised an eyebrow at him.

“Two …Actually, you’re right. I wouldn’t because I’m in one of those moods today that I wouldn’t call Savvy over here. I’d take you to your seat personally, by the ear.” I replied. He smirked.

“Like I said before, you wouldn’t.” I stood up and reached my hand towards his ear, but he grabbed my hand. “And here’s why you won’t. I have a picture of you, on my hood.” I smiled, thinking about how he really thought he had the upper hand here. I leaned down until I was face to face with him.

“I don’t think you’ll do that.” I said.

“Oh and why not?”

“You need me to pretend to be your girlfriend.” I stated.

“Oh, I do, do I?” He said.

“Yeah, you don’t like Flora like you used too. I could see it in your eyes when you saw her this afternoon. Plus, not only is Flora after you, but Helena. Who better to pose as your girlfriend than your enemy … me?” I stated.  Troy eyed me and then released my hand.

“So, what if you’re right? I need you to pose as my girlfriend. Who’s to say that I can’t make you be my girlfriend by threatening to send the photo of you on my hood?” I smiled at him.

“Because, I know what you did for me. I realized it after over-hearing you and Dylan talk …” Troy’s expression dropped, his eyes looked straight at the floor.

“Y-you know what I did for you?” He asked in a shocked tone.

“Yeah, I know that you paid off the principle to change all my grades to A’s … I’ve always wondered how one moment I was failing all my classes, and then the next moment, I was passing. But, after hearing Dylan say who your dad was, and that you were pulling all the stops out for ‘her’. I guessed it might’ve been me. It was just a guess, until just now. Your expression showed me, I was right. But Troy, I have got a question. Why did you do it? Why did you change my grades?”

Hope’s P.O.V

I sat in digital art, thinking about how I didn’t want to go home today. Lately my dad had been fighting with his girlfriend—well, as of this morning—ex-girlfriend, Sami. I think she might be moving soon for which I was glad because I was tired of her acting like she was my mom.

The thought of my mom made me sigh. She’d been pressuring me a lot lately.

I made a B minus on a test and she flipped out. She even threatened to take me out of the school, saying ‘public schools were bad for me’.

I wanted to tell her that I live with my dad, not her. He was the one with custody of me, not her. But like always, I said nothing and just listened to her.

“Hope?” I looked up at Tom.

Gosh, I wish a guy like him would like me.

He was so nice, unlike the other boys— Troy, Allen and Dylan—who were just plain jerks. Trying to blackmail us … The thought of what Savvy was planning on doing to them popped in my head.

What, you thought she was going to let this slide?

Ha-ha! No.

“Hope?” Tom said,  I blinked as my thoughts subsided.

“Sorry, did you want something?”

“Oh, I was just wondering if you wanted to stay after school and … work on the project.” He rubbed the back of his neck in a nervous manner.

“Ummm.” I started to think.

“By the way, I’m using my blackmailing threat right now, stay after school.” He said. All of the thinking that Tom wasn’t like the other boys went out the window.

“Savvy is my ride home-“ I started to say, but he cut me off.

“I’ll take you home …”

“I haven’t told her.”

“I told Kay to tell her.” Tom said with a smirk. He knew as well as I did that I had no true excuse to not stay.

“I guess you leave me no choice.” I said, Tom grinned.

“So, what’s your favorite food?” Tom asked me, I giggled.

“Why do you want to know?”

“Call it curiosity.”

“Curiosity killed the cat.” I said.

“Satisfaction brought him back.” Tom said with a smirk. I laughed out loud, which earned a few stray looks from kids in the class.

“Wow, that’s a good one.” I said.

“Thanks … So tell me, what kind of food do you like?”

“I love dark chocolate.” I admitted.

“Dark chocolate …” he looked deep in thought. For some reason an image of Tom cover in dark chocolate popped in my head.

WOAH! Hope, calm down them hormones.

“Why are you smiling like that?” Tom asked me. I snapped out of my rant in my head.

“Oh, nothing … just thinking.”

“What about?”

“That’s private.” I stated. Tom studied me for a second before nodding.

“What are you doing this weekend?”

“I’m going to my mom’s.”

Unfortunately, I thought.

“Oh.”

“Why?” I questioned.

“Because there was an event I wanted to take you to … with me, but if you’re busy … it’s okay.” He said in a low voice.

“If it’s on Sunday, I can go. I’m coming home late Saturday night.” I stated.

“It’s Saturday night … But it’s fine …” Tom said. “Maybe another time.”

“Yeah, another time.”

“So what do you want to do with this project? I had a couple things in mind.” Added Tom, I knew he was hurt that I was busy, but I can’t miss going to my mom’s. She’d kill me.

Savvy’s P.O.V.

As soon as the last bell rang, I dashed out of class and to my car.

Times like these I wish I didn’t drive people home. I wanted to be by myself.

“Savvy!” I heard a male yell from behind me. I turned and saw Allen running towards me. I felt a tear start to come out of my eye. I quickly ran towards my car. “Savvy, please, stop running!” Allen shouted, I didn’t listen, just kept going until I reached my car. When I did, I tried unlocking it before Allen could catch up to me, but I failed. Allen grabbed me by my shoulders and made me face him. “Damn it Savvy, I’m trying to talk to you.”

“I don’t want to talk to you.” I stated, trying not to cry.

“Savvy—”

“Stop calling me by my name!” I yelled at him. Allen let out a chuckle.

“What am I supposed to call you then?” I glared at him. “Don’t look at me like that, I feel like I’ve done something wrong.”

“You got in fight with my best friend. I count that as doing something wrong.” Allen’s eyes went dark.

“He put his freaking arm around you! I told him not to!” Allen said in a flat, very angry tone.

“What gives you the right to tell a guy if he can, or can’t put his arm around me?!” I yelled. I saw a few people staring at Allen and I fight. “You should go to the eye doctor, because, you have a problem with staring at one place too long!” I screamed at the people that were gawking at us. They immediately turned and went the other way. I snapped my head back to Allen, who was staring down at me. “Allen-“ I was cut off by Allen.

He … He … Kissed me?!

What the holy water?!

I found myself, shoving him away from me.

Yes, admittedly I have dreamt of the day I’d kiss Allen, maybe even do more than kissing. But, I had a few words to say to him.

“What the hell, Savvy?!” Allen said once I pushed him away.

“You! You’re a freaking bastard!” He looked with shock.

“What? Why?”

“Because, I said so!” Just then Kay walked over to us, with a smile on her face. I knew she saw what Allen just did. “Get in the car.” I hissed at her, as I got in, ignoring Allen, who was telling me not to leave and talk to him. I just got in the car, and turned the radio up ignoring him.

“We can leave. Maddy and Hope are getting other rides home.” Kay said loudly over the sound of the speakers. I nodded and drove off. Soon, Kay turned down the radio. “Why are you crying Savvy?” She asked. I wiped my tears away from my eyes.

“He’s a jerk.” I stated. “All this time, I’ve wanted him! I thought he wanted me too! I mean hell, we went to the movies a couple of weeks ago. He put his arm around me. We freaking cuddled in the movies! Then, at the roller skate rink he wouldn’t let go of my hand, so I won’t fall! The boy acts like he likes me, then …” I pulled into Kay’s driveway.  “Then, I ask him if he likes last week … he told me I was like a sister to him! A freaking sister!” I yelled. Kay looked at me. “Yet, just in the parking lot he kissed me! Maybe he was sacred to tell you that he liked you …” I sighed. “But, what do I know? I’m a girl in love with a guy that is completely and utterly in love with someone else.” I looked at Kay.

“Dylan kissed you, though.” I mentioned.

“Yeah, he kissed me, but I think it was a joke to him.” Kay mumbled.

“You’ll find someone one day, that’ll be 100 times better than Dylan.” I said, wiping my tear away and focusing on Kay.

“The thing is, I don’t want anybody else but Dylan.” She said in a low voice.

“I know how you feel.”

“Well, at least you have two guys that want you.”

“Two?! What? No.” Kay laughed.

“Savvy, you are so naïve.” Kay said, and just then I saw Kay’s mom walk out of the house. “I better go.” I nodded and Kay got out.

Soon, I found myself in my driveway, thinking.

What did Kay mean by two guys like me?

I don’t even know one that likes me.

When I got out of my car, I walked in trying not to get caught.

“Savvy? Is that you?” My grandmother called from her leather chair as I passed the doorway that lead to the living room.  I closed my eyes and sighed.

“Yeah, it’s me.”

“Get your fat ass in here.” She called out in a bitter tone. I walked in the living room. My grandmother was sitting in her chair, cigarette in between two fingers, glasses at the brink of her long nose. “You left this morning without feeding that damn dog. I swear you need to learn some damn manners. I let you live here, took you under my wing, and you can’t remember one freaking thing, like feed the dog! You’re a damn bitch! That’s what you are, just like your good for nothing mother. You know I’ve been thinking why your mom took up drugs. I bet it was to numb the pain she felt when she thought of why she had such an ugly ass daughter like you.” Tears welled up in my eyes.

Her words were like venom.

My mom left me at my grandmother’s house because she said she needed to clean up and get sober. My mom was a druggie and my grandmother disowned her the moment she found out about it. My grandmother couldn’t have her rich friends thinking she was supporting her drug-addict daughter but when my mom said she was going to get clean, my grandmother took me in.

That was 10 years ago. I haven’t seen my mom since.

I ran up the stair to my room.

“Yeah! You run bitch! Just like your mom!” My grandmother called out.

I got in my room and fell on my bed crying.

Hours later, I looked at my alarm clock and saw it was one in the morning. I slowly got up and snuck out of my room.

My grandmother was passed out in her chair. She probably drank too much wine.

I got out of the house and walked next door.

I climbed up the side of my neighbor’s house, and opened the window I knew was going to be open. Once inside, I looked at the bed in the middle of the room.

Allen.

He laid there sleeping. I sighed and slipped off my shoes.

I got in his bed, Allen turned in his sleep, and his arm wrapped around me.

“We’ll talk about the kiss in the morning …” Allen said before pulling me closer to him.

Wow, that was long!

Okay here is your surprise! I have picked songs that match this story! Not telling who they go too, but hopefully it will shed some light on what I’m planning.
