Maddy's P.O.V ... Yelling Makes All The Pain Go Away

I Dare You! / I Got You! {Completed}

Maddy’s P.O.V

“Just come clean, you lost, to a girl.” I stated as I got in Troy’s car. He didn’t mutter a word, just got in the car and looked at me with a frown.

“You totally cheated.” I smiled with victory at the fact that he was actually pouting.

“I didn’t cheat. You, my non-friend just lost. I think I'll collect my winnings.” I said, he raised an eyebrow at me.

“And what exactly is it that you want, Mrs. Cheater?” He asked with a sly smile.

“Drive and I’ll give you directions.” I stated, Troy turned on the car. With a loud sigh he began driving. Soon we pulled up to a dirt road. “You should stop the car here. We'll walk from here.” I stated, knowing that the road would turn into a trail that wasn't big enough for a car to drive on. Troy and I started walking the endless trail.

“Does this trail ever end?” Troy asked about 10 minutes later.

“Yes it does Mr. Sore Loser.” I added with a smile. He gave me a quick glare before glancing behind me and gawking in awe. I turned and saw we had made it to the top.

“Where did you find this place? … It’s …"

“Beautiful.” I finished his sentence. My eyes scoped out the sight that was before us. We were currently on a cliff called Falling Cliff. It over looked the whole city. “My brothers showed it to me after …” I didn’t want to finish that sentence.

“After what?” Troy asked. I sighed loudly and shook my head.

“Nothing … Okay, this is what I want you to do since I won.” I quickly changed the subject. “Go to the edge of the cliff and yell, I lost to Maddy Delaine Huggins.” I stated. He gave me a questioning look.

“That’s it? That’s all you want me to do?” He asked. I smiled and nodded.

“Yep, now do it, Mister.” I demanded. He chuckled and walked to the edge.

“I lost to Maddy Delaine Huggins!” His voice boomed through the air. I grinned and then walked next to him. I inhaled deeply.

“Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!” I yelled until my face was red with the lack of oxygen. I felt so much better after I yelled. Yelling seems to always take away  a tiny bit of stress, anger, or pain. Of those three, I was full of pain. Pain from the fact that I had a deep feeling that our group wouldn't be the same again.

“What was that for?” Troy asked, as his eyes shifted to mine. I sighed.

“That was me releasing some anger …” I honestly said.

“So that's what you come up here for? Releasing anger?” He questioned. I sat down and dangled my legs off the cliff.

“Yeah, that and because it’s the most beautiful place to go at night. You should see the stars here when it's nighttime. I remember my brother Jamie bringing me here.  Man, we'd spend hours out here.” I chuckled. Troy sat down next to me. “One time … I was heartbroken. I saw the guy I liked with another girl. He didn’t know I liked him though … I was so upset. Jamie brought me here, and we didn’t talk just focused solely on the twinkling stars above.”

“Who was the guy that you liked?” Troy asked. I shook my head.

“You don’t know him,” I lied. He bought it and nodded.

“Well, we might have to come back at night to see those stars.” He stated. I looked at him with a smile, hoping he would live up to that promise ... if it was considered a promise ...

“ ... Maybe.” With that I stood up. “I need to go home. My brother is in town and I want to visit with him before he leaves.” I said.

“Christopher?”

“Y-yeah, how did you know?”

“He answered the door when I came this morning." I giggled at the fact that I completely forgot about that. He chuckled too. "I don’t think you'll miss him leaving.” Troy smirked.

“What do you mean?” I became curious as to what Troy knew about my brother, that I didn't.

“What? You don’t know?” His expression was fully of shock.

“Know what?” I asked with curiosity.

“Troy is marrying my sister, Holly. They announced it, like, a month ago. Well at least she did to my family.. I think Holly has even sent out invitations.”

“I think you're highly confused. My brother would never settle down.” I exclaimed. Troy shook his head.

“Well, he is. I guess you can say he's changed."

“No, you don’t understand, he will never change. He’s like you, I can never see him in the future tying the knot.” I confessed.

“Are you telling me that you can’t see me getting married one day?” Him saying that made me laugh.

“You? Settling down? Ha-ha, when cows jump over the moon!” Troy walked till his chest was touching mine.

“What makes it so hard for you to conceive the idea of me settling down?”

“Because you like to get rid of girls as fast as you get rid of condoms.” I boldly stated.

“You make me sound like a cold-hearted player.”

“Well, you, my non-friend, are a cold hearted boy.” His eyes had a flicker of amusement. “Anywhoo, I want you to take me home, now. My dad has probably already sent a search and rescue team out to find me.” I said sarcastically. He chuckled.

“Okay.” Was all he said as we made our way to his car. I couldn't help but remember what I told him:

I saw the guy I like with another girl. He doesn’t know I liked him though...

Little did Troy know that the guy was him. He was the reason my brother dragged me out of the house in the midst of my sadness and brought me here.

I liked Troy...still did, and seeing him with girls, broke my heart every time.

But he would never, and I mean never find out I liked him. I just couldn't have myself falling for him anymore, and then getting my heart broken again and again.

“Maddy?! Where did you go?” My brother Jamie asked once I walked in the house.

“I went to Falling Cliff.” I admitted, he sighed in relief.

“Dad freaked out when you didn’t come home after 3. He called all the girls, but they didn’t answer their phones. I think he was seconds from calling the cops.” Jamie said as we walked into the living room. I laughed, but knew he was dead serious. Upon entering the overstuffed living room, Christopher jumped off the sofa and headed over to me.

“Maddy, can I speak to you in private?” He asked with eagerness in his voice. I nodded and he led me to my room. “Maddy,” Christopher said closing my door. “I’m getting married.” He told me.

“I know, I found out by Troy. Why didn’t you tell me?” I asked.

“Because I was hoping I wouldn’t have to tell you.” He stated with a hint of ... sadness?

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“I don’t want to marry Holly. She’s basically forcing me to marry her. Maddy, I am screwed when it comes to this girl. She's like my stalker. She told me that if I didn’t marry her she was going to ruin me.”

“Ha-ha, a girl controlling you, wow.” I stated in awe.

“Maddy, you don’t understand, I don’t love her … I love someone else.” I analyzed him, wondering if he was lying. In his baby blue eyes, I saw he was not lying. Christopher was serious. He was in love with someone else.

“Who do you really love?”  I questioned, with a smile.
