Chapter 444 Caleb led Bernard into the room across the way and scoped out the surroundings.
Realizing that the room occupant was conveniently absent, Caleb breathed a sigh of relief.
He turned around, faced Bernard, waved the card in his hand, and smiled confidently.
âMr. Laurence, my skills arenât too shabby, huh?â
Bernard patted his shoulder in approval, but then his expression suddenly turned cold.
âCaleb, are you having someone tail me?â
As his hand rested on Calebâs shoulder, Caleb felt tremendous pressure, making him extremely uncomfortable.
He stiffened up and was incredibly nervous, not daring to meet Bernardâs gaze. He had no choice but to hang his head and admit his wrongdoing.
âMs. Penrod was worried about your identity being exposed, so I had no choice but to have someone follow you around...â
Bernard coldly replied, âDonât forget who youâre working for This chilly reminder was undoubtedly a blow to Calebâs spirit, making him feel even more sorry for Mr. Laurence.
Caleb looked up and solemnly said, âIâm well aware that you saved my life, and I should naturally listen to you. I was just worried that if your identity is exposed, youâll be hunted down. So, I listened to Ms. Penrod. Sir, you have to believe that Iâll be loyal to you for my entire life, with no other intentions.â
Knowing what kind of person Caleb is, Bernard didnât say anything more and just withdrew his hand that was resting on Calebâs shoulder.
He pondered why Eleanor would suddenly bring so many cops to catch him. Just then, his private phone started to vibrate.
Bernard took out his phone, swiped to unlock it, and saw a message from Eleanor. The storm clouds in his eyes gathered once more.
After hesitating for a few seconds, he replied to her: [I canât go there tonight. Letâs meet at 8 tomorrow morning]
He coldly ordered Caleb, âFind out how Pearce learned that Mr. Law forced himself on Eleanor.â
The only people who knew about his interaction with Eleanor as Mr. Law were him and Eleanor. There was no way a third party could know.
Even Caleb and Aidyn, who were often by his side, didnât know he had met Eleanor alone as Mr. Law.
Moreover, these encounters took place three years ago. Eleanor had known Pearce for less than half a year, so she couldnât have told him voluntarily.
If Eleanor really wanted to catch him, she would have done so when he returned to the country.
But not only did she not come for him; but she also added him to a blacklist after returning home.
This move clearly showed that she didnât want to have anything to do with Mr. Law anymore.
But now, after so long, she suddenly removed him from the blacklist and set a trap to catch him. It was just too strange.
Caleb respectfully answered âYesâ, and quickly left the room.
Eleanor stood outside the door, and her expression slightly changed when she saw Mr. Lawâs reply.
Mr. Law had agreed to meet but suddenly said it was inconvenient and changed the location to his hideout.
Could it be that Mr. Law had already arrived, saw her with the police ready to catch him, and changed his mind and location on the spot?

She looked up and surveyed the floor. Besides the emergency exit, there were only two elevators and two luxury suites.
Suite 2203 had two police officers on guard, while 2204 across the hall was Bernardâs room. The emergency exit was also sealed off by them. There was nowhere for Mr. Law to hide, and he couldnât possibly know the future and predict all these events, right?
