Chapter Ten.
Damaged Lace. *The Animals MC book two.*
Ty, Wolf and Demon stood in the main room together, each holding a beer as the other two filled Demon in on what happened with Zeke.
"Two more days and I doubt he'd have made it," Ty said.
"Thank God for Becky," Wolf added.
"She hasn't left his side for even a minute since they came back, the doctors said he'll be as good as new in a few week."
Demon finished his drink and tossed it into a nearby garbage can, he hadn't seen Zeke yet but he could imagine how badly he must be hurt. It only made him more angry at Lacy.
"I'm going to just check in on him before I go," Demon said.
"He's in his room," Ty said with a nod in the direction of the room.
Demon walked down the hallway, Zeke's room was next to Ty and just a few rooms down from his. He knocked twice but didn't get an answer and carefully opened the door.
Zeke lay in his bed, asleep. His face and body covered in cuts and bruises, Ty had stripped him of his clothes and tucked him under the blankets. Becky lay beside him, her clothes were on and she was hanging on the edge of the bed to allow ample space between them. She had no blankets and was curled into a tight ball for warmth.
He was preparing to leave when Zeke opened his eyes and spoke, his voice was strained.
"Hey."
"Hey," demon said.
"What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be out looking for Lacy?"
"I wanted to check in on you, but I see you're in very capable hands?"
Zeke looked confused until Demon pointed to where Becky lay. Zeke looked at her then shook his head.
"Shit, how long has she been there?"
"From what I heard all night."
Zeke reached to grab a blanket from the bottom of the bed and covered her small frame with it. She sighed contentedly but didn't wake up and he turned back to Demon.
"How are things with Lacy?"
"Not good."
"I know Wolf put you in a hard place, I don't blame you for what happened to me."
"I appreciate that," Demon said honestly.
"But if that bitch or any of Kings men come after Becky or Ty I'll kill her myself."
Demon knew Zeke well enough to know he wasn't making idle threats and that he meant every word. He also respected him enough to accept it. If Lacy went after the people he loved, Zeke would be a force to be reckoned with.
"I'm going to go see if I can track her down, I just wanted to see how you're doing first."
"I feel like shit, but I'm fine."
"She worked her ass off to get you out, maybe you should thank her." Wolf said.
"That stunt she pulled was suicide, all those sex starved convicts and she waltzes in like she owns the place."
"You need to give her more credit. She's not some stupid teenager."
"She was once, and that image sticks with me."
"Well it shouldnt, she more than proved herself and her loyalty to you."
"She's just a stupid kid, deep down."
Demon shook his head, Zeke always been a cold and sometimes cruel man, especially where Becky was concerned. Sometimes Demon wondered where that hatred came from, Ty worshipped Becky but Zeke barely tolerated her.
"Well, I guess I will be seeing you then."
Demon turned to leave and Zeke called out to him.
"Demon, I know you two were close once but don't count on that stopping Lacy. She's not the same girl you used to know. I don't think she will hesitate to kill you."
Demon didn't respond, not vocally. He just gave a grim nod and exited the room.
Zeke relaxed back against the pillows, though he was annoyed at her audacity he had to admit it was easier to relax knowing that Becky was at his side. As long as she was there she was safe.
She stirred and he glanced over at her, she sat up a little.
"Do you need somethjng?" She asked gently.
"I need to you get the hell out of my bed."
"I didn't mean too, I was sitting with you and I just was so tired," She blushed a deep crimson color.
"What the hell must people think? How do you think this makes Ty feel?"
"What does this have to do with Ty? I'm in here to help take care of you."
"I don't need you're help, and I don't want it. The sooner you get that through your thick skull the better. I didn't want you help then and I dammed sure don't now."
"You're a bastard," She said softly fighting back tears.
"Get out, Becky."
She threw off the blanket and rolled from the bed practically running from room. He sighed heavily, she was over reacting in his opinion.
Demon sat outside the dumpy apartment building that Lacy was currently calling home, her car was parked just a few blocks away so he knew she was there. It was late at night and he would almost bet his life that she was asleep.
He crossed the street and entered the building, there were people asleep on the stairs but none of them cared where he was going. He reached her door and carefully picked the lock, if anybody saw they didn't comment on it as he slowly slipped inside.
She was sleeping just like he thought she would be, the blankets pulled tightly up around her body and her gun on the nightstand beside her. Slowly he approached and emptied the gun before placing it back on the nightstand, he wanted to see if she'd really shoot him.
Watching her sleep he waited just a minute then cleared his throat.
She sat up like a rocket and grabbed her gun pointing it at him, he stepped into the light and she relaxed slightly.
"What are you going to do shoot me?" He asked.
"I hate you."
"I hate you too, now tell me where King is."
"No."
He stood and she tensed, he watched her, waiting for her to fire the gun. She didn't shoot at him but she didn't lower the gun either.
"Zeke is home,"
"Already?"
"Becky got him out, do you know what they did to him?" He asked.
"No."
"Do you want too?"
"No." She shook her head, lowering the gun.
"Well too damn bad! They beat him Lacy! They starved and beat him for almost a week!"
"I'm not responsible for that!" She yelled.
He lunged at her, knocking her back onto the bed her gun dropping to the floor. He caught her by her neck and tore her from the bed, slamming her against a wall.
"Let go!"
"Tell me where King is!"
"No!"
"Tell me why you're with him!" He was yelling.
"I love him!"
"You're lying!"
"No I'm not, we met years ago."
"Stop it!"
"I fell in love then and I did again!"
"Stop lying to me, Lacy!"
She choked back a sob, letting her head fall forward to his shoulder. He released his hold on her neck to let her come closer, even if he knew it was a bad idea to let his guard down.
"I know I let you down and I'm sorry," She said softly.
He lifted a hand to cup the back of her head, letting his cheek rest on top of her hair. She had let him down at that was the worst part.
"Lace....."He was about to push her away, try to reason with her when he felt the sharp pain in his right leg
He shoved her away from him, glancing down to see a pen sticking into his leg, through his jeans. He'd barely healed from the fork he assaulted her with last time and now had a pen in his leg, any restraint he'd been using this far was gone.
She turned, preparing to run out the door, he caught her in two easy strides. He grabbed a handful of her hair and used it to spin her around, forcing her to her bed and face down onto the mattress. He used his weight to pin down her flailing arms and legs, she may be strong but he was heavy.
He pulled the pen roughly from his leg and she continued to fight against him. He knelt above her allowing her to roll over onto her back before giving her a sharp backhand that effectively knocked her unconscious.
He stood from the bed looking down to wear blood was soaking his pant leg, he hadn't wanted to hurt her, he didn't want it to come to that but she wasn't making it easy. He walked over to where her bags lay piled near the bathroom door and began digging for a first aid kit.
Lacy woke up with a pounding headache, the left side of her face throbbing and hot. She slowly cracked open her eyes, at first not sure what had happened then she remembered. She sat up and it was then she realized that her hands were bound together. She was instantly aware of the prickling sensation on the back of her neck, she was being watched.
She turned her head and saw Demon leaning against the door frame, his jeans were stained with blood from where she'd stabbed him but he didn't appear to be in any pain. At his feet lay his black duffel bag, she knew exactly what was in that bag.
Drills, lighters, pliers, and anything else you could imagine that you would use to torture information out of someone.
She swallowed passed the lump in her throat and tried to fight down the sickening fear, Demon pushed away from the door frame and walked towards the bed.
"I tried Lacy, I tried to help you. You didn't want my help, I have to get that information somehow."
He paused and dug in his bag coming out with the disposable lighter, he lit it and stared at the flame before approaching the bed. He knelt on the edge, slowly crawling towards her, she fell onto her back and tried to scramble away.
He caught her ankles, pulling her towards him. He knelt between her kicking legs but was able to control her with his weight.
"You can stop this anytime, just tell me where King is."
She stopped thrashing around long enough to sit up and spit in his face. He didn't say anything at first and she stared at him, her breathing becoming erratic.
"Alright then," he said with a sigh, flicking to light the lighter.
