Chapter twenty five.
Damaged Lace. *The Animals MC book two.*
Photo is of Lacy
Three days later Wolf finally called everyone to the table, Zeke was still weakened but was healed enough that with help for Ty was able to make it to his chair. Demon and Lacy had barely left his room since the fight, coming out only for food and to go feed her cat and his dog. Nobody was sure if Lacy was hiding from everyone or if Demon was trying to keep her all to himself while he could.
After a brief consideration Wolf decided to let the families who wished to be present at the meeting into the room, the decision that was weighing on his shoulders was what to do about Lacy. As the men and their families filed into the room Morgan approached with Iris on her hip.
"I don't think I'm going in," Jenny said to Sky.
"You don't have to," He replied.
"Would you mind watching Iris? I think I want to go inside," Morgan said.
"Sure," Jenny smiled and lifted Iris from Morgan.
After Sky went inside and Jenny wandered off with Iris Morgan took a minute to stand in the doorway. She took a deep breath and debated not going inside but a part of her knew she had too, if only to make sure Lacy saw one friendly face.
Lacy and Demon were the last ones to head towards the conference room, they paused outside the doors together and she drew in a shaky breath. Demon looked at her then reached out to give her hand a gentle squeeze, he knew she was scared.
"I've never been this afraid before," She admitted.
He didn't say anything, there was nothing he could say now that would help her. She'd made her mistakes and now she had to learn the consequences.
She released his hand and they walked into the room together, he took his normal seat at the table but his eyes never left her.
"This meeting is now in order," Wolf called to the large crowd.
Lacy looked around not only was every Animal in their chapter seated at the table there were several standing behind the regular members, Raphael stood in a darkened corner and every wall was lined with people.
"I want to start this meeting by informing you all that we have found Ivan and Laurel. Ivan is in lock up and as of now we don't know how long, Laurel is in ICU but they think she will pull through. With that being said, I think Lacy deserves the floor....any objections?"
There was silence among the men and then Wolf looked directly at her.
"Go ahead," He said.
"My name is Lacy Grant....and I've been lying to all of you," She started, looking directly at Demon as she spoke.
"My father was.....Norman Grant."
"Wait, THE Norman Grant?" Ty asked.
"Yes," She said, swallowing back the lump in her throat and the tears.
She saw the shock register on everyone's face, including Demons as they realized just how long she'd been lying to all of them. She took a shaky breath.
"For those of you who don't know...Norman Grant was the head of the Aces Wild, before King."
Demon looked away, for the first time since they had entered the room he looked away from her and she knew he was done.
"Twelve years ago my father was in charge of the Aces Wild, he wanted to take out other MCs and so he needed a rat. He trained me to infiltrate other clubs and gain information he could use to take them down. I was involved with another club and my father was killed, after he died the Aces turned their backs on me. I was left alone, for two years I lived on the streets and I was homeless."
Demon tense and then he stood from his chair, he looked directly at her and shook his head. He turned and walked out of the room, Wolf watched him go but didn't try and stop him.
"Continue," Wolf said gently.
"I was scared and desperate. I saw you guys come into a diner and I stole a wallet from one of you, he chased me and then....he offered me a better life. For eight years I was truly happy, I had a family and a club that was never going to abandon me. Then King recognized me while I was out with Demon on a run, he knew who I was and he knew who my father was."
"That's when you started dating," Wolf said.
"No, we told everyone we were dating. We weren't dating, he was pressing me for information about you guys and the club. He blackmailed me, I was afraid if you knew who I really was.....I was afraid and he used it against me."
"Did you feed him information?" Zeke demanded.
"No, I kept him at bay by sharing information about other clubs that we knew. If we learned something about a gun shipment so did he. Eventually he stopped calling and I thought that was the end of it. Until six months ago, he started sending me pictures in the mail. Pictures of me and Demon, Morgan and Iris. The blackmail picked back up as well as threats, he knew who I was close to and he made it clear he could kill them anytime."
"You should have came to us about the threats," Ty said.
"He had proof about me being my fathers daughter, about all our deals. He said if I told anyone about the threats that he would expose me for who I really was, a rat."
"So you fed him information?" Wolf asked.
"Yes. I love you all, every one of you and he knew that. He kept pressuring me for more and more information, finally he struck one last deal. If I told him when you would be in the yard so he could arrange the drive by he would forget everything else. I said no, dozens of times I said no but he sent me pictures or me and Demon in my house eating dinner, pictures of Iris asleep in her bed. He made it clear I might be ordering your death but....if I didn't, he would kill everyone I loved and in the end it would look like I had helped."
Morgan had yet to take her eyes off of Lacy but she winced at her friends story. She had traded her leaders life for the man she loved and the two women who were like family. It didn't make it right but it was hard to find the fault.
"Kings men got sloppy and they shot Iris, after that I told him I was done. I couldn't stand the lies anymore but by then I was in too deep. He offered me a final deal, to take up as his right hand in my rightful spot in exchange for the end of blackmail and the threats on all of your lives. He said if I let the club, he'd leave you all in peace."
"That's why you moved out?" Morgan asked from behind Wolf.
"Yes, I thought it was over and that would be the end of it but then the war broke out. I tried to stay out of it but King....wouldn't let me be uninvolved. He made me a promise that Demon would remain unharmed, looking back I see now he never really meant it. When you all came to the warehouse I knew I had to do something, I couldn't stand by and watch my family be murdered not my real family and....not Demon."
"Do you have anything else to say?" Wolf asked.
"No sir, whatever the club decides I accept. If it's the death penalty so be it, I'm just tired of the lies."
The clubhouse fell quiet and all eyes turned to Wolf, he glanced at Zeke who was staring at Lacy. She swallowed passed the lump in her throat, her heart pounding so loud she could hear it echo in her ears. She must have looked as sick as she felt because Ty offered her a sympathetic smile.
"The punishment for betrayal of the club is death," Wolf said bluntly.
Her breath hitched and she bit back an involuntary sob.
Morgan gasped and nearly rushed to her friend but Becky caught her arm preventing her from doing so.
Wolf glanced briefly at Morgan and then around the table at the other men, none of them contradicted his decision.
Lacy blinked back tears and looking down noticed now how hard her hands were shaking, folding them behind her back she straightened her spine. If that was her fate she'd accept it.
"However, what you did in that war saved Demon's life. I think that is cause for some consideration on our part," Wolf said.
Hope bubbled up inside her and her entire body began to tremble, her knees feeling weak.
"I agree," Zeke said gently.
"Me too," Ty said.
"I recommend a stripping of title and eviction from the club...permanently," Wolf said.
"I second," Ty said.
"Third," Sky said.
One by one they went around the table and each man agreed, the punishment was not to be death and while she was relieved with each vote her heart broke. She would be alone again.
"Lacy Grant, it is the opinion of this club that you are no longer fit to be a member. You will turn in any items bearing the mark of the MC, you will no longer have protection from other clubs, you will no longer receive payment from the club." Wolf said.
"Yes sir."
"You are dismissed and unless invited by a member are never to set foot on this property again, do you understand?" Wolf asked.
"Yes."
"Violation of these rules will result in quick and indefinite punishment."
She managed a weak nod but nothing else, she glanced around the room and the hardened bikers all stared back. Their expressions somber.
"You may go," Wolf said.
She let out a heavy sigh and hurried from the room, stepping into the main room she felt her shaking finally subside.
Demon sat at the bar a few yards away, he looked up at her from his drink but she saw the disgust and disappointment in his eyes.
"I did it for you," She said softly.
He looked away from her back to his drink and she dropped her head, pushing back the tears. What did she expect? He wasn't the kind to fall in love let alone with a traitor.
The club exited the meeting room and approached where she stood, she glanced one more time at Demon who was now ignoring the entire thing.
"You need to vacate the property," Wolf said.
She gave a small nod of agreement and then walked out the doors of the place she called home, for the last time.
