Chapter 5: Chapter 4~ Dinner is canceled

Orion’s POV~

Aaron is heading into town to order the supplies he needs to renovate the structures on the campground. The lodge isn’t quite big enough for a pack house.. but he’s going to add another 20 bedrooms on the east side of it and look into putting in a pool. The interior can be opened up into one great room with a dining hall and kitchen off one end.. a study and library and the first floor will be done…

Abraham and I are going to the campground to claim it as DarkShadows Pack.. and Renata has gone to the restaurant to bake all the breads and desserts she will need for the day. I’m amazed how well the restaurant does. She told me last night how much she brings in and she’s only open 5 hours a day! She has 3 chefs and 2 sous chefs. 2 bartenders and 12 servers..as well as one slutty hostess. (her words) and Brian said and a partridge in a pear tree…apparently that was the funniest thing she’d ever heard….

We get out of the truck here, at the campground and we walked to the center of our land and I knelt on one knee…”Mother Moon… I beseech thee…Bless this land and make it hallowed. Here to reside all hellhound and their kind! We are welcome! We are family! We are one!” I sliced a deep gash into my palm and squeezed my fist tight…six drops hit the ground and absorbed into the earth and a wave a power rolled over the land. I looked at Abraham…handed him the dagger…and said “Call them home”

We all got together at Renata’s restaurant to have lunch and she served us herself. I can’t stop staring at her. She’s so beautiful…inside and out! I have been blessed! The way she jumps to defend us…wants to have a party to help everyone find a mate. How angry she is at my birth family. I am blown away by her! I pulled her off to the side “I have to go to Lionel’s pack to finalize this alliance. We will be back by 9…will you be awake.?” She smiles and says “Oh yes! I will make dinner!” I tell her it’s going to be a business dinner…and she shakes her head… She laughs “Don’t eat anything there…why do you think Lionel knows my restaurant so well? And has his own dining room?” And she giggles again and I just want to listen to it all day. She says “Orion? Don’t let that Alicia touch what is mine…if she does…if she lays her hands on you…you remind her I have meat cleavers and I know how to use them “ And she kisses my cheek…smiles that smile that stops my heart and walks away! My woman!

We all climb in the truck to head to Lionel’s and Brian speaks up “I found a few things about our fairy… Did you know there is major differences between fairies and faeries “ Aaron spins in his seat “what the fuck is Wrong with you? What kind of fucking question is that? Fairies and fairies? The fuck?” Brian gets agitated…”No no…Fae-ries and fairies… Two entirely different species! One species is rotten to the core…practice all the dark arts..can cast curses…and the other is only capable of kindness , generosity, and love. No matter how much you hurt them..it is physically impossible for a fairy to hate. They experienced negative emotions and they lose their shit…but it only lasts about 5 minutes..then they’re over it. Guess which one our fairy is?” All 3 of us say the second one’ and we laugh…then Brian says “I told you that…to tell you this.. when Luna first got here…a few people…5 exactly…discovered she was a fairy by catching her healing a tree someone had carved into..when asked what she was doing …she responded couldn’t you hear her weeping? And, right there and then…those 5 people decided she was a fae-rie and had to die. They grabbed her and tied her to the tree she had healed and set her on fire. The report read…she cried for the tree! She apologized to the tree!!! While those people laughed at her. The sky lit up and lightning flashed down in the middle of the 5….killing two. The clouds gathered and it rained for three days. Some say she did it…some say divine intervention. Either way..it saved her life. The people who survived never paid for what they did…the Mayor in town wanted to charge her in the two deaths but couldn’t get any backers. For the most part…it was just swept under the rug. And Alpha…my line for the day?” I nodded…knowing what I am about to hear will make me wanna snap a neck… “ The three survivors are part of Lionel’s pack. One of them is his daughter.”

The truck swerved hard left and I battled a few moments to right it! Before I could snatch him back Heracles pushed through I waNT hiM And ThaT PacK DeSTROYed!!

Aaron looks at Abraham and says I fucking hate when he does that! Abraham nods.. Me too! I think I peed my pants! And just like that..the atmosphere inside the truck relaxed. I told Brian anymore tidbits could wait. He’d already used his one line today. He mumbled he could use Aaron’s..and we all laughed again..

Pulled up the driveway to the pack house I look at Abraham and ask him Is that PINK? Abraham shakes his head and says “I think they call it salmon “ and I say “well excuussee the fuck outta me! That shit is pink!” I sigh! I don’t want to be here in the first place! Now I want to rip that girl’s head off! May as well get this show on the road!

As we reached the bottom step of the porch ….the front doors open and Lionel steps out “Alpha Orion! Good of you to come! This is my Luna, Lisa…and you know my daughter,Alicia… Come in…come in!” We walk inside…and Lionel requests we follow him to his office… walking down the hall..that girl kept rubbing my wrist..my forearm twice.. I ignored it…Heracles did not… the fourth time she did it…he growled so loud two windows shattered..

Abraham snapped his head at me…I said “don’t look at me…he’s never sorry” … I sat down across from Lionel and asked why we were in his office when all I want to do is see if he has any budding hellhounds… he said “I thought we could have a glass of whiskey while you wait for the pack to gather? And to ascertain when I might expect your warriors?” I said “my people are 3 days out…my pack are on their way home so, 4 days, I suppose “

We walked outside and all pups from 4 to 16 had assembled and I hear Aaron say “I smell one… not with the pups..this way..” and we followed him as I caught the scent.. I follow it around the house..to the kitchen…still not seeing my hound…the scent leads me to a door behind the pantry…what the actual fuck? I yank on the door breaking it off its hinges and see four women huddled in a corner. I whisper “I’m not here to hurt you. I’m here to take you out of here!”I link Aaron 🐺 Blankets NOW..basement beside the pantry and he runs in less than two minutes later! 4 she-hounds under the age of 16! Locked in a basement! Injured…filthy… I had reached the front yard and had Lionel by the throat, pinned to the wall “What the fuck was that? Huh? You hate hounds like you hate fairies?? You signed an alliance with me….knowing you had MY hounds prisoner? Are you out of your fucking mind? Maybe I should burn this place to the ground! After all…your daughter likes fire! Right?” And I dropped him to the ground! I looked back at Lionel…I will honor the alliance for the 6 months my warriors are here. One more wrong move and I will bury you!

I turn to Abraham and ask “any more?” And he answers “4…1 is 7 and the others are 13 , 14 , and 16 respectively. The parents of the 7 year old don’t want to be without their son.” Bring them along… I say. Then “reserve rooms at the hotel. We have a dinner date with our Luna!”

“Well, Lionel” I say “It’s been real and it’s been fun…but it ain’t been real fun! Dinner is cancelled!!” Load up men! We’re going home!”

That was easier said than done. The four girls were terrified and had to be talked off a limb several times.. The other kids’ families wanted to leave with them, as well. We had to call for two more trucks! And we are finally pulling into Renata’s driveway and it’s 9:30!
