Chapter 21: Sleep well because...

I felt a hand move across my back and I shivered from the chills it sent down my spine. I moved closer to the pillow I was hugging and relished in the softness if it. I felt the pillow rise and fall periodically and I cracked my eyes open when I felt a hand come around and move my hair back from my face. The pillow that I was supposedly hugging was indeed a pillow but what was under it was not the bed.

"How did this happen?" I mumbled sliding off Jayden and taking the pillow that had been placed on his chest with me.

The events of last night rushed back to me as I saw Jayden's bare chest come into view with the new mark that decorated his left pectoral. I looked at myself and I felt that under these sheets I was completely naked. I looked around the room and I saw what remained of my shirt hanging from the back of a chair and our pants discarded at the base of the bed. Jayden leaned against the head board of the bed and wore a knowing smirk on his face. My eyes traveled down to his chest and I examined the black tribal mosaic that marked him as a mated male wolf. I looked past him and to my horror I found my bra hanging off the lamp beside him!

Jayden followed my eyes and burst into laughter. "Oh Angel! Don't look so mortified!"

I huffed and fell back on the bed clutching the sheets around me. My body was sore in places I never knew could be sore and groaned from the stiffness of my body. Jayden was still laughing and I felt him lay down behind me and spoon me against his chest. He ran his nose along my neck and kissed his mark on my shoulder. I moaned from the pleasure this simple act sent me and I felt my core tense. My jaw stiffened from the ach in my muscles and mumbled against the sheets.

"What did you say Angel?" Jayden asked finding his way around the sheets to my waist. His warm hands caressed my skin drawing soothing circles.

"I said I hurt. Don't move me." My cheeks burned from embarrassment and once again I heard Jayden chuckle in amusement.

"Don't laugh at me." I said and pulled out of his hold wrapping the sheets tighter around me.

"You are so adorable Angel. What you just said assures me that last night, I rocked your world." He had an arrogant smirk plastered on his face and I shoved him back but instead of moving away from me like I intended he grabbed my hand and pulled me to lay on top of him.

The sheet fell around us and our bare bodies pressed against each other. I moved my body closer to his feeling shy just prancing around naked. Jayden's hand settled on my waist and he brought the other to my cheek. I pulled away enough to look at him and I saw his small smile and affectionate gaze looking back at me.

"Don't feel shy with me Angel. I owe you my life, literally. And I cannot express how happy and in love I feel right now. You are my world and you are mine."

His words warmed my heart and my mind went back to when I first met him in the Black Moon pack house. His existence brought my soul happiness and I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with this amazing man in front of me.

"I love you." I said placing a soft kiss against his lips. I closed my eyes and his hand weaved itself into my hair. His lips moved against mine in a sensual motion that made my core burn with desire.

"I love you Angel" He said against my lips and I felt his hands drop down to my legs and pull them on either side of his body. I pushed myself up on my elbows and bit his lip demanding entrance. He smiled and in one fluid movement he had me pressed down in the mattress with him above me and breaking the kiss for only a second he said,

"Let's see how sore your really are."

He smashed his lips against mine and in only a few moments I found myself screaming his name in ecstasy.

To say the least my morning was booked and Jayden's stamina was commendable.

Finally deciding to get out of bed Jayden and I got showered (separately of course!) and made our way downstairs. We walked into the kitchen just in time for lunch and my stomach growled smelling the delicious food Kate had prepared for Alpha Cairstay, Iris, and Damon. Everyone sat around the table and I saw Andrew and Tony smiling at me barely holding in their laughter.

"What?" I said looking at the two.

They burst into laughter and I looked at Alpha Neal and Kate and saw them pulling out two twenties each. Damon and Iris also pulled out two twenties each and they all handed one to each of the twins and sat down. I looked between them and asked, fearing the answer.

"What did you guys bet?"

Andrew and Tony each had huge smiles on their faces as they high fived each other. I looked to Iris and Damon and they too wore smug smiles on their faces.

"We bet if you will be down in the morning for breakfast or for lunch." Tony said with a smile counting his money.

I looked at Alpha Neal and Kate and said, "You bet breakfast?"

They nodded and Alpha Neal said, "You owe me a twenty."

I heard Jayden chuckle beside me and he pulled my chair close to his resting his arm on the back of mine. I blushed and looked to Iris and Damon. "You guy bet breakfast too?"

They shared a look and Damon said, "We said dinner. I guess my brother here didn't make it passed lunch."

I face palmed and I heard Iris burst into laughter. Alpha Cairstay added later, "if it makes you feel better I didn't bet." Iris' laughter got cut and the twins froze counting their money. A moment of silence passed around us but Jayden ended it by saying,

"Smart move Father."

Alpha Neal sat behind his desk and looked straight into my eyes. Iris and Damon stood beside Alpha Cairstay and Jayden sat beside me holding my hand. The weight of their stare hung on my shoulders and the stress of the unknown felt like a knife held to my throat.

"We have to test it. I see no other way." I said looking at Alpha Neal. Now that Jayden and I were mated to each other and the mate bond had formed between us Romero's link to me should have been broken. However I felt nothing different when he had formed the bond and I felt no different now.

"We should head down to the hold cells. We had him in a comatose state since he cut himself with a knife so we will have to call the pack doctor and safely test it, without causing you harm." Alpha Neal said picking the receiver off the phone base on his desk. We watched as he made the call and I looked at Iris hoping she was right. She gave me an encouraging nod and I gave her a small smile in return.

"He will be here soon. I'll mind link you when Romero in conscious." Alpha Neal said standing up and dismissing us with one final nod.

Iris, Damon, Jayden, and I walked into the family room and Andrew and Tony were sprawled on the ground in front of the TV playing video games.

"Hey guys." I said and Jayden sat down on the couch bringing me down on his lap. Damon and Iris did the same and she rested her head on his shoulder and closing her eyes.

"Hey." Andrew and Tony said in unison without batting an eye away from the screen.

Andrew must have killed Tony because he threw his controller at him and accused him of cheating.

"Stop being a sore loser! I'm just better than you!" Andrew said bowing to an imaginary crowd.

"Whatever! That's one game." Tony huffed and finally looked our way. "Woah, why the glum faces you guys?"

"Romero. We have to test if the bond it broken or not." I said in soft voice.

Andrew and Tony sat facing us four and crossed their legs. I saw their faces turn down and Tony said, "I can't wait to see that asshole dead! No one messes with you anymore. That's our promise to you Layla."

Their eyes flickered with a determination I had never seen before and I gave them a warm smile.

Thank you. Both of you mean a lot to me and I won't have it any other way.

They gave me identical smiles and if you didn't know them like I did you would miss how different they are despite how similar they look.

Come down. He is awake. Alpha Neal's voice filled our heads. I stood up from Jayden's lap and we all walked downstairs. Andrew and Tony also came downstairs but lingered in the background.

Romero sat on a chair in the middle of the cell. His eyelids were low and he was slumped back on the back of his chair with his ankles tied to the legs of the chair. He and I made eye contact and I saw a smile begin to form on his lips.

"I instructed them to keep him sedated enough that he won't be able to escape. We are going to make a small incision on his forearm and we will see if you feel it or not." Alpha Neal guided me to a chair where one of our medical assistants from the hospital stood. I sat down and Alpha Neal nodded to the woman standing beside Romero. She picked up a scalpel and bringing it close to Romero's arm she made a cut drawing out blood. As the blood ran down his arm I watched my forearm. The skin remained intact and unlike Romero's there was not a cut made.

We all released our breath and woman covered Romero's arm stopping the blood. Alpha Neal gave a smile and Jayden walked up to me pulling me against his chest and placing a kiss on my hair. Alpha Neal had a vindictive and cynical smile on his face and without giving it a second thought he punched Romero square in his jaw and grabbed the front of his shirt.

"Sleep well because this time tomorrow you'll be dead."

A/N OMG! Iris was right! The mate bond was stronger! LOL Love really does conquer all! :D
