Chapter 45
Gentle Beast
Gentle Beast Chapter 45
Winter had come back?
JÇ XiÇo Åu lifted a foot to take a step then brought it back. Her dark eyes looked at this strange male, âDid Ryan say anything else?â
Wilbur said: âChief didnât say anything else, just to have you follow me.â
JÇ XiÇo Åuâs fingers tightened on the door frame, clenching until they were white, and reluctantly said, âNo. . . Iâll wait for Ryan to come see me.â
If this was the past, JÇ XiÇo Åu wouldnât be so guarded in her heart.
But now she was in her âestrusâ period and Ryan had just said that Winter couldnât possibly come back from the east in such a short time.
As for how this beastman, how did he know about Pat? . . . The more JÇ XiÇo Åu thought, the worse she felt about it.
Had Ryan told him? Or did he learn about it from somewhere else?
Did they know she was human?
Wilbur saw that the girlâs eyes were alert, her pupils dilating, and knew that she had guessed something. He could no longer deal with her. So he stretched out his claws and grabbed her.
Fortunately, JÇ XiÇo Åu had been prepared and quickly closed the wooden door, using the latch inside to lock it.
Still, she couldnât feel relief yet because as soon as she turned, she saw Wilbur jumping over the wall.
JÇ XiÇo Åu staggered back and her brain quickly put things together, knowing this was a conspiracy. âWho let you come here? Whereâs Ryan?â
Wilbur did not speak, only came to JÇ XiÇo Åu and raised his claws to pierce the back of her neck.
JÇ XiÇo Åu felt the pain at the back of her throat and she passed out.
When she woke up again, she was in a shabby hut. JÇ XiÇo Åu sat on the bed with her neck in hand and looked around. She saw nothing in the room. There was only a bed and a table. The room was very poor and there was nowhere to even settle down.
Where was this?
Why was she here?
JÇ XiÇo Åu was full of doubt. She recalled that just before she was knocked out, wasnât she with a beastman called Wilbur?
Her neck was still in pain and the beastman could have done it. JÇ XiÇo Åu got out of bed and went to the door to look outside. She was still in the leopard tribe. The house was solemn and the land was flat. In the distance, the Camuda Valley continued to stretch and many leopards came and went.
But, it seemed the beastmen here. . . the majority of them were female.
JÇ XiÇo Åu and Ryan lived together in the front of the tribe, and most of the ones she met were male. She thought the females were scarce to the extent that they couldnât be seen when walking down the street. She didnât expect that the lived in an entirely separate place.
Most of the females were busy with their own affairs in the yard. No one noticed her sudden addition.
Why did Wilbur put her here? What was his intention?
JÇ XiÇo Åu was puzzled and stepped forward. There were three houses in the yard. The other two were closed. She walked to the front door of one of them. She had not yet reached it when she heard a deep groan.
JÇ XiÇo Åu footsteps suddenly stalled.
There was a heavy and delicate voice inside and they gave off an extremely ambiguous message.
A gust of wind blew over and the door suddenly burst open. The scene inside was burned into JÇ XiÇo Åuâs eyes.
A tall beastman was pressed above a female, and he slammed into her with a primitive passion.
The leopard femaleâs eyes were half-closed and her voice was hoarse. It couldnât be said whether she felt pain or pleasure.
JÇ XiÇo Åuâs head was wooden and her feet seemed to take root.
She didnât wake until the sound suddenly ended and she ran back to the room she had woken in.
She just got into the house when the male walked out of the room with a face full of satisfaction.
After a while, another male walked in and went into the femaleâs house.
Soon, the sounds of intimacy rang out from the room again.
JÇ XiÇo Åu squatted under the window and shrank in on herself. She spent half a day down there and had no idea how many males went in and out of there.
She bit her lips and shivered, trying not to let her fear overflow.
She had always heard them say 'sharing females,â but she hadnât had an accurate idea of it. Now she had seen it with her own eyes.
What was the difference between this woman and. . . a prostitute?
Wilbur put her here, making her, by default, a female of the leopard race. Was she now to be 'shared?â
No, she canât stay here. She had to get back to Ryan.
JÇ XiÇo Åu lifted her fingers and wiped her tears. She stood up from the floor and approached the door. A bang shoved the door open and there was a female standing there.
JÇ XiÇo Åu backed up half a step and fixed her eyes on her. It was Olympus.
Olympus smiled at her and saw her red eyes, and she looked resolute, asking, âAre you trying to leave here?â
JÇ XiÇo Åu understood this sentence and there was precaution in her heart. She immeidately put away the panic in her face. She licked her lip and searched for her words in the leopard tongue to say, âI am not a female of the leopard race, so I do not need to stay here.â
She said such and walked around Olympus to get outside.
âWait a minute,â Olympus suddenly called out to her and she hesitated, âYou may not know. . . But this is actually what Ryan said. It was him who asked Wilbur to send you here.â
JÇ XiÇo Åu suddenly stopped.
âWhat did you say?â Astonished, she subconsciously used the human langauge.
Olympus explained herself, âThe leopards have always had these rules. The males cannot selfishly monopolize a female. You have been living in Ryanâs house and the tribe has been dissatisfied. So we decided that you will only be able to live with us here.â
JÇ XiÇo Åu felt that the biggest hurdle since coming here was learning the leopard language.
Olympus put together such a long string of words but she could unexpectedly put together what she meant.
Ryan let Wilbur sent her here?
He would let her live here all the time?
However, why hadnât he told her himself? If she had caused trouble for him, she would definitely have left on her own initiative. Since she didnât really want to say with the leopards anyway, why would be let herself be left here?
JÇ XiÇo Åu closed her eyes and said nothing.
Olympus thought she had believed her words and comforted, bringing her back into the house, âYou can stay here with us now. Thereâs only two of us here. Whatâs your name? I donât know it yet.â
JÇ XiÇo Åu stopped in the door and wouldnât step inside again. Suddenly, she said, âI cannot stay here.â
Olympus: âWhat?â Because JÇ XiÇo Åu had used the human language to say this, Olympus could not understand her.
JÇ XiÇo Åu did not care about her. She threw off Olympusâs hand.
She didnât believe Olympusâs words. Even if it was true, she would verify it with Ryan herself.
If this was what Ryan meant, then she would leave the leopard race instead of letting herself be ruined by the males. . .
Olympusâs face immediately changed and she wanted to go up and stop her, but a male suddenly entered the courtyard. He was particularly tall and dressed in animal skins. He had a black circle under his eyes and he was here to find a female.
Olympus animatedly shouted at JÇ XiÇo Åu, âWhere are you going? Ryan already said that he will not take you back. Living here isnât good enough for you? I will cook and the other girl can sew well. . .â
The male was attracted by Olympusâs voice and looked down, seeing JÇ XiÇo Åu. His eyes suddenly became bright.
âOh, itâs this the Chief Ryanâs baby girl? Has the chief tired of you so fast?â
When Ryan brought JÇ XiÇo Åu back, she was hidden so deep the race had been curious but didnât dare do anything because of Ryanâs power.
Now, JÇ XiÇo Åu appeared to be here alone. The male had even heard from Olympusâs mouth that Ryan had âabandonedâ her here. He stepped towards her and licked his lips with interest, the beast not disguised in his eyes.
JÇ XiÇo Åuâs heart throbbed and she backed away.
The male extended his claws and held JÇ XiÇo Åuâs shoulder. His hand was wide and it slapped down, forcing her body halfway down.
JÇ XiÇo Åu grit her teeth and took out her knife from her space. Regardless of her dislike, she raised her hand and slammed it into the back of the beastmanâs hand.
He cried out and immediately released JÇ XiÇo Åu.
She took the opportunity to escape from under him but she didnât get far. The beastman was obviously irritated with her and he chased after her.
JÇ XiÇo Åu ran fast but she couldnât match the speed of a leopard. Seeing she was going to be chased either way, she quickly remembered that there were many unopened firecrackers in her space.
Although she didnât know if it would be of much use against a leopard, there was no other way and she could only give it a try.
JÇ XiÇo Åu stopped immediately and took out a firecracker. She lit it and threw it at the male beastman.
The male faced her and was caught off guard.
JÇ XiÇo Åu didnât have time to appreciate the other being injured by it, she turned around and quickly left.
*
This time, at Elder Scarletâs house.
Ryanâs brow was low, revealing a trace of impatience.
Everything that Scarlet had said to him today was trivial. He had a tendency to talk for a long time and there was a continuous trend of: âAnd, the last time I told you that. . .â
âScarlet, I am the leader, not the steward.â Ryan lost his patience and sat up in his seat, interrupting Scarletâs words with a cold voice, âIf you cannot handle these things and need to report to me every little thing, then resign from the elderâs seat.â
He said this and stretched his long legs to leave.
âWait, Chief. I have one last thing,â Scarlet quickly called out to Ryan.
Ryan paused, âIf itâs this irrelevant stuff, you better shut up now.â
âI had Wilbur send your female to the back street,â Scarlet suddenly said.
The back street was were all the females of the race lived together, and it was also where the males come and went.
Ryan paused suddenly and he turned around. His deep blue eyes stared at Scarlet tightly, and he asked with restraint, âWhat did you just say?â
âThat is where sheâs supposed to live,â Scarlet looked at Ryanâs eyes and thought that even if the wrath of Ryan was terrible, he had to do this for the sake of racial harmony. âIf you want her to stay in the race, then learn to share her with the tribe.â
