Gentle Beast Chapter 67
Behind them, the voices of the deer escaping continued, their hooves trampling across fallen leaves and accompanied by the loud roar of the tigers.
However, this wasnât enough to bring JÇ XiÇo Åu into shock.
JÇ XiÇo Åu stared at the familiar face in front of her, too horrified to speak.
Why was he here?
JÇ XiÇo Åu never exposed any trace of her existence, even whens he fed Wenrick milk, she never mentioned anything.
Aside from that one time she accidentally called out the wrong name, the leopard she called âTáo Táo.â
But how did the little leopard know who she was calling?
And, as far as she knew, the leopard hunts never came to this forest.
Although the beastmen were barbaric, they also had very clearly set territories.
The wolvesâ hunting grounds was in the Camuda Valley and the Morocco Valley belonged to the tiger clan.
Why, then, was he. . .
JÇ XiÇo Åu subconsciously turned to the small leopard hiding behind the tree. The little one had transformed into his human shape and his glossy eyes and red lips resembled Suzannaâs face.
â. . .â JÇ XiÇo Åu suddenly understood how it happened.
Wenrick looked at Ryanâs actions and thought that Ryan wanted to hurt her so he hurriedly said, âUncle Ryan, donât hurt her, sheâs mine!â
Ryanâs eyebrows shifted slightly and he looked down at him, his voice extremely low, âWhat did you just say?â
Wenrick looked at Ryanâs eyes and for a moment was scared, âShe, sheâs the prey that I saw first. . .â
Ryan didnât change his expression and said nothing. In the distance, several tribesmen were coming, and Winter ran at the forefront, âThe Chief has finally found you!â
Several leopards stopped under the tree and shifted to their humanoid shape.
When Winter lowered his head and saw his son, he lifted his hand and pulled him up, âYouâre really here, you little guy. . .â
Wenrick was stuck under his fatherâs elbow and he breathed hard, choking, âUncle Ryan is here, so why canât I be here!â
âYou. . .â
Winter wanted to say, âCould you possibly compare with the chief?â when he looked up and saw JÇ XiÇo Åu standing beside Ryan. The words immediately choked on his tongue and he couldnât say a word.
When JÇ XiÇo Åu had fled, though the others didnât know what was going on, he knew it clearly.
He blamed himself for accidentally leaking out what happened and let the female know about how he and the Chief were deceiving her. In a fit of rage, she had a big fight with the chief and ran off overnight.
Since then, Winter had felt guilt and remorse toward Ryan.
The Chief had let him live until now, and he himself felt it was incredible.
Now, Winter looked at JÇ XiÇo Åuâs face and was extremely surprised.
This female was back?
Where had she come from? Would she leave once she came back?
. . .
âHere you are,â Ryanâs voice interrupted Winterâs thoughts and was so calm that he couldnât hear any infliction.
Holding the rope in his hand, he took a step and went deep into the forest.
Winter saw him go in the opposite direction and was stunned, but he couldnât help but say, âChief, thereâs the hunt today. . .â
âYou go first,â Ryanâs footsteps didnât stop and he led JÇ XiÇo Åu into the woods, âIâll catch up with you in a few days.â
Winter knew what was going on and led the rest of the people down the hill to meet the others.
Before he left, he suddenly heard a slight noise in the tree and looked up at he topââ
Ericâs face was pale and white, and he stared at them, alarmed at their sight.
â. . .â
When Ryan originally showed up, he was already dead. With the tiger and leopard right there, he had no room to survive.
Who knew that later a group of leopards would show up and the one in the middle be their âChief.â
Chief???
This was the leader of the leopards that had been constantly fighting with the wolves and left them with no defense?
Eric was even more scared as he watched JÇ XiÇo Åu be taken by that âunreasonableâ leader. But he was even more helpless.
His heart felt guilty remorse but right now, in the line of sight of the leopards, he bravely gathered up his courage. He trembled and said, âYou, you canât hurt her, sheâs saved your people. . .â
*
The forest was silent, and there was no trace of sound.
Only a single, tall beastman led a petite and delicate female to walk into the woods.
But the forest path was rough and bumpy. The petite female had a very hard time walking. Coupled with her hands being tied by the beastman, she couldnât maintain good balance. The male had long legs and deliberately didnât wait for her, so she couldnât keep up with him.
âRyan, let go, I canât walk,â JÇ XiÇo Åu didnât know how many times she had said that sentence, but Ryan made as though he hadnât heard anything and ignored her.
Aside from those few words to the father and son, he didnât say anything at all.
JÇ XiÇo Åu stared at the wide back in front of her and pursed her lips, angrily calling out his name, âRyan!â
Ryan was unmoved.
JÇ XiÇo Åu asked, âWhere exactly are you taking me?â
Ryan took the other end of the rope and continued forward.
âEric and his people have done nothing, donât harm them.â
When JÇ XiÇo Åu saw he continued to ignore her, she felt a bit anxious and resorted to her killer line, âIf you donât agree, Iâll go home now.â
Ryan finally stopped. The veins in the back of his hand suddenly pulsed and he turned around to look at JÇ XiÇo Åu.
JÇ XiÇo Åu bit her lip and wanted to escape on principle at being stared at but she still had to bite the bullet and say, âI know this is your natural law, but Eric is a friend and when you were injured, he did help you. . .â
She hadnât finished when Ryan came to stand near her and his presence made JÇ XiÇo Åu subconsciously step back.
Ryan leaned slightly over her and finally said his first words to her, âWhat did you say?â
JÇ XiÇo Åu was suddenly self-conscious and she quietly answered, âEric is a friend. . .â
âThe previous sentence,â Ryan calmly reminded.
JÇ XiÇo Åu thought for a moment and gently licked her lips, slowly repeating, âIf you donât agree, then I will go home.â
